Guardian of the Pacific: The Incredible Adventures of the Giant Turtle

The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.

This whole situation with Yeger created some tension between us. Marshal was really not happy. I can't blame him for that, because I didn't think about his problems when I decided to let Jaeger fight. My intention was to show the difference between a Kaiju and a Jaeger, but I think the analysts at headquarters would have noticed without my help.

When Marshall didn't answer my joke, I exhaled heavily. I really wanted to help him and respond to every attack, but I couldn't. After such thoughts I felt sick. These are the same motives as with this Jaeger. I wanted to let people keep fighting so that people could get stronger. There was something wrong with these thoughts, and I could feel it.

"Fine. You know I can't sense Kaiju at very long distances? If I don't see the Kaiju attack and you don't have two Jaegers to fight him, then you can call me for help."

"You are not fast enough to react in time in such situations. When you come, the cities will already be destroyed," Marshal answered me.

"That's all I can promise you. You know that I am not the solution to all your problems. My full cooperation with you will only work as a medical band-aid. It will hit you in the future."

"How about we make you a jet pack?" Raleigh broke into our conversation with his absurd idea. "Then you'll be quick enough to react and help us when we can't fight on our own!"

We looked at Raleigh and were silent, thinking about his idea. "What is wrong? Don't you understand what the word "Jetpack" means? It's the kind of thing that you wear on your back and let you fly," Raleigh continued.

"I really need a jet pack so I can exit the portal when the time comes." I responded to his idea. As far as I could remember, the portal on that side wasn't at the bottom of the ocean or somewhere on the floor. The aliens opened it from above in the sky, and there was some kind of gravitational anomaly that allowed the Kaiju to be sucked into the portal. If the aliens disable this gravity anomaly, I won't be able to get back into the portal anymore and I'll be trapped.

"What? Can you enter the portal?" Raleigh was very shocked by this news. No one knows how to enter the portal, but right now Torterra is talking about a potential mission on that side as if the problem of going through the portal does not exist at all.

"Everything you hear here will stay here! You won't tell anyone about it, not even your brother," said Marshal. It was clear to me that the Marshal had not just let this boy come. He was ready to share his secrets with him, apparently he really had a hard time and needed trusted people. "We'll talk about it later at the base."

After these words of Marshall, there was silence. "We still have a few years until the Kaiju start coming to us en masse. But the guy is right. The necessary equipment must be developed now. We need what he said and a portable prison cell that can support the alien atmosphere inside," I replied to the Marshal after a moment of silence.

"I don't have enough Jaegers to defend this region right now, so don't forget what you promised me!" Marshall said ending the call and heading to his plane.

"You know where to find me!"

Raleigh was shocked and silent. It turns out that his brother was right, something was really going on here. Marshal and Torterra had more information than anyone in the world, and now he was a part of it. He had no choice but to continue fighting alongside them, and he had hope of winning this war.

A few days later, I finished eating the Kaiju and swam back to the Marshall Islands. All the way I thought about various questions of morality and necessity. Do i need to intercept every attack? But no matter how much I thought, I came to the same logical conclusion: "Maybe I don't need to fight every Kaiju, but I need to be close to every attack!"

A jetpack and some weapons wouldn't hurt. The ability to fly is admirable, but not everything is so simple. I am very heavy, and making such a device is difficult, but not impossible. And when he is ready, the Marshal will be able to protect those cities where he has the fewest Jaegers. My cooperation with him will also allow the world council to take Marshall's opinion into account and listen to him more. They will no longer be able to kick him out if they don't like something.

When I was almost near the Marshall Islands, I felt the presence of a strong monster from the Chinese side. This was surprising because there should not be another attack for several months. The sense of presence was also different. When I feel the Kaiju, it's like the feeling of a wild beast that wants to destroy. But now I feel like this is a beast that doesn't want to destroy, but wants to rule. This beast challenges my authority over this region with its presence.

These feelings were strange, because i never thought about any power over the region. But here it is! I feel like my territory is being stolen. Is it some kind of instinct?

I did not care about these feelings, but I could not ignore the matter. I swam in the direction of China. The Marshall Islands were in the western part of the Pacific Ocean, so I can reach China in 1-2 days. I could only hope that the Jaegers would deal with the threat before I arrived.

I was already not far from the continent when I was struck by an incredible picture. Hundreds and thousands of ships sailed in the direction from the shore. It was an evacuation of an incredible scale. The ships were of various types, from fishing boats to military landing craft, and they were all filled with people carrying their belongings.

The whole sea was covered with ships. As I swam beneath them, their shadows kept running over me. I could guess why such an evacuation was taking place. The beast I sensed was slowly moving towards the NPP. This surprised me a lot, because Kaiju do not attack NPPs purposefully. They do not feel the radiation and cannot find the nuclear power plant. It was also not known whether radiation pollution is part of the aliens' plans to terraform our planet.

I slowly raised my head above the water and looked at what was happening on land. What I saw really shocked me. Constant explosions resounded in the air. The sounds of cannon shots did not stop for a second. Both airplanes and cruise missiles flew in the sky. And hypersonic ballistic missiles fell to the ground from above. The city in front of me was completely on fire. Not only random places or cars on the roads burned. The whole city literally burned. Skyscrapers and small houses were completely engulfed in flames. Even the windows and walls were on fire, sending plumes of fire and smoke skyward.

On the shore of the sea I saw a crushed Jaeger, who had no arms or legs. Many buildings were destroyed, and other Jaegers were lying on top of them, in no better condition.

I felt the creature continue to move in the direction of the exit from the city, so I swam along the shore in the same direction. I felt NPP further. He needed to go through one more city and he would get to the nuclear power plant.

The explosions did not stop. Many rockets hit burning buildings and exploded, destroying entire floors. Their debris fell into the smoke and ash that covered the streets.

SSSCCCRREEEEEEEE!

A cry of pain or anger could be heard from the city. The place from where this scream was heard was completely covered in smoke and fire. And all this pile of fire and smoke gradually came out of the city. I got out of the water. On one side was a burning city with a monster inside, and on the other side was a residential town with low buildings, and a narrow brown river running in the middle. The streets of the town were crowded with cars. There were very few people, and those I saw were trying to walk out of the city and headed for the ocean, hoping to get on a boat.

I cautiously walked across the river and faced the beast. I still haven't seen him because of the smoke. Sometimes some armored parts of the body showed through the smoke. I didn't want to miss it any further. I had to fight him in this burnt city.

I did not rush forward mindlessly. Experience told me not to go into battle with an unknown opponent without intelligence. So I stood at the edge of the city and waited until the smoke cleared and I could see the enemy.

At some point, all the shots and rockets stopped. Maybe people stopped their attacks to avoid hitting me, or maybe they're just reloading. The planes were still circling above us.

The smoke gradually dissipated, and an armored beast emerged from it. He was slightly shorter than me, but he had a massive and thick shell on his back. All of his limbs and muzzle were also covered in strong armor. He had short legs and a pointed snout like a bird. A short tail protruded from the back of the beast, and its mouth was filled with small teeth that protruded forward.

"What is happening here? Is it a turtle?" This beast looked a lot like me before the nuclear blast tore my carapace off my back. But there were many differences. His whole body looked somehow ugly and asymmetrical. And the skin under the gray armor was pale.

I was shocked and froze in place as I watched this monster come out of the burning city, making craters with every step and causing earthquakes. He stopped in front of me and growled at me.
