Chapter 6

He was busy for the next two hours. Evan ensured he had everything prepared for the Avene World by driving to the Springfields that sell field sports merchandise to the nearest B&Q for simple day-to-day tools.

He even bought a Holdall-Belt to carry condiments with him, in case it was necessary.

Evan Young returned to the farmhouse two hundred Pound poorer than before. But in exchange, he made sure he was well prepared for his next visit.

'Please... Make the miracle happen again.' Evan Young prayed as he reached for the doorknob and made his way across the door. A curtain of darkness then blinded his eyes and brought him back to where he was before this.

It seems that he stepped out of Elric's room this time. But there doesn't seem to be anyone in the house right now.

Looking at the plate of gruel on the table with some bread and fruits, Evan Young felt a little bad for not turning up from the room as he was brought back to his own world when he tried to access the door earlier.

'Looks like there's something else in my to-do list other than finding out the reason why the book appears and vanish without explanation.' Evan Young spoke to himself while being alone inside the house.

And without further ado, he left the house with the backpack still on him and tried to make his way to the farm on his own. It wouldn't be a problem to him anyway since he could easily ask for directions from other fellow villagers if needed.

Still, the randomly walking around took him close to an hour to finally find Eins and his family. It seems that the wife and daughter were here as well.

"Big brother Evan, where did you go just now? Do you want me to go back and reheat the gruel and bread for you?" said Elise. The little lass doesn't seem to mind that Evan was gone from the room without a word earlier.

"I'm alright. Big brother remembered I had something left in the forest, so I had to quickly go back and search for it. Luckily, it wasn't stolen by bad people." Evan Young said and patted Elise's head. As the only son in the family, he rarely had the chance to show some affection to those younger than him.

"Wow! What is in that amazing-looking bag of yours, big brother Evan?" Elric quickly forgot what he was doing and ran to Evan's side.

"Are you sure you can come here and get lazy? Don't you worry your father is going to spank your buttock?" Evan Young made a mess with Elric's hair when the boy came to his reach.

Happily, the two pulled him closer to Ein and his wife.

"Madam, I'm sorry for leaving without a word just now. It's just... I'm worried that the content in the bag might be expensive, so I had to leave quickly to get them back." Evan Young said. He knew he lied, but it's not like he can tell them the truth anyway.

Even if he were telling them the truth, they would just take him not seriously as a token of politeness towards their guest.

"It's not a problem. Do you have anything to do between now until dinnertime? If there's not, maybe Elise can bring you around the village?" Eins' wife said casually.

"That would be great. But what does Elise think?" Evan Young return a smile to Eins and Elise. Even a fool could feel that the couple was showing him a sign of goodwill for his help yesterday.

"I'd like to bring big brother around. Let's go!" Elise grabbed Evan's hand as she pulled him along with her.

"Then... We'll come back after a walk around the village." Evan Young waved at the couple and Elric as he left with Elise.

Understanding and sweet, the little lass was a pretty cheerful one as she showed Evan Young around the place. From where they're threshing the wheat to where the farmers tie the straws together, he was eventually brought to the farmers taking care of the young Fang-Boars.

"This is the proudest thing of our village, the Fang-Boar. Do you know that when Elise was just ten years old, we only had two boars?" Elise innocently said.

"I won't know that if Elise not telling me. Do you know what the farmers are doing over there?" Evan Young asked.

"Yes! That's Uncle and Aunt Swindon. They're harvesting the Golden Soil Fruit. Do you want to take a look at the Golden Soil Fruit?" Elise asked. But her action was different from her words as she pulled Evan Young over to the Swindon couple without waiting for his answer.

Evan Young's expression changed when he arrived before the couple and took a glance at the Golden Soil Fruit.

'Was this not potato from where I came from? Do they really call this the Golden Soil Fruit?' Evan Young's revealed a perplexing expression before the couple. It seems that potatoes were treated like the fruit from the gods in a rural village like here.

"Uncle and Aunt Swindon! This is my father and brother's benefactor. His name is Evan!" Elise introduced him to the Swindon couple.

"Hello, Mister Swindon and Madam. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of fruit is this Golden Soil Fruit you're harvesting?" Evan Young asked. He had a feeling that there were treating these plants a little too preciously.

"Well, since we're calling them Golden Soil Fruit, of course, it's because they're a precious plant that the god bestowed to us. This Golden Soil Fruit is quite hard to plant because it can only grow up to three fruits from each fruit we planted."

"This time, our yield was not too great either. Why? Are you interested in planting them as well?" the Swindon couple asked.

"Telling you honestly, these Golden Soil Fruits taste amazing when they're cooked together with the oil we scooped out from the milk of the mother boar. After you tried them once, I'm sure you'll be addicted too." said the couple.

They sounded eager, but Evan Young thought, what if he taught them how to plant the potatoes properly? Won't it make them happier?

"Anyway, how's the farm in your father's plot? Did he manage to get the Golden Soil Fruit in their farm to grow?" the Swindon couple asked. Their question seems to be making Elise a little unsure of how to answer.
