The sensei's powers

"l cannot believe l am sharing a class with him" Lilith looked at Nex with disgust written all over her face. Out of the two hundred and sixteen level one aspirants that took the test of courage, seven of them passed with distinction and fifty six others passed with credits making it a total of sixty three level one aspirants. Lilith and her team members got the half bar reward they were promised and it indeed made top aspirants now. Hence, they were put under the care of one sensei, sensei Helia including Nex who passed with distinction as well while the others were shared fourteen aspirants under each sensei.

Throughout their first class, Lilith, Rain and Florate felt so uneasy having Nexine there with them. They were not comfortable at all with his presence and their reasons were totally understandable, judging from what happened at the test, who knows he might do what is worst now.

"Me neither" Rain concurred. "l feel this shadow of thread tying my whole being whenever l look at his cold face. I just can't stand him".

"You should stop looking at him" Florate wisphered to her ears. "You may not know what he would tried to do to you next. The look in his eyes proves he is not over with you yet, l would not want anything happening to you again" he sounded worried and his eyes spoke so too.

"Thanks for your care Florate. I will be careful with him but first l would like to find out why he adopted me during the test. He must have a reason for what he did" she looked his way again only for him to wink at her and Florate saw it.

"Forget it Rain. Maybe he is just obsessed with you, don't you see how he acts around you? It's obvious he seeks your attention" he frowned. "Just leave him be, he is of no use to you anyways so why worry?".

"I couldn't agree more" Lilith added. "I just hate him so much" she said with resentment.

"l know Lilith but it is necessary l know why he did. I can't just let it slide that way" she insisted.

"I totally disagree. How about you Lilith?" Florate called for Lilith's support and he got it. "Me too" she shook her head vehemently. "let's just not fall into any of his traps for now". She said sensibly hoping Rain would find the sense in what she said but she just sighed.

"Our main course for today is learning how to master your emotions" the sensei's voice ended their silent discussion and they focused to listen to what he had to say. He seemed a bit different now to Lilith, Rain and Lyra. He was usually very friendly and never thus serious with them. They would not say they were satisfied with his former self but at least they were used to him being that way but now, he was all serious and strict. Maybe it's because they were now in level two and needed a stronger hand?' who knows?

"Emotions are a strong, very strong and can pull the will of even the most powerful to bend to its course. You must learn to control them, to make them your subjects, not let them rule you for once they are in control, they is utterly no going back and you are doomed to fail". He ended with a scary tone which got all the attention. He meant to motivate them, to know if they could possess the will to control their emotions at this young age as they are supposed to. "Rain step forward" he called suddenly, making Rain swallow hard. She hated it whenever she was the first to be tried but right now she had no choice.

"Yes sensei" she stepped forward and stood directly before him.

"You all may not have this important question in mind but l am going to answer it today"

"What question, sensei" Lilith raised a hand.

"The very question you should have had in mind the moment you called me your sensei Lilith. The question, 'What are my mutant powers?'. I knew none of you ever bother to know but l will make you know today. My mutant powers are..."

"Telepathy, telekinesis!" Lyra rushed to answer.

"No" he frowned. "This!" he blasted at Rain and she fell to the floor, lifeless!

"Rain!" Florate and Lilith gasped while the others just widened their eyes.

Suddenly, her soul left her body immediately and entered a portal before her mindlessly, like she was being controlled.

"What happened, why was her soul separated from her body and why did she enter that portal?!" Florate rushed to ask even before the sensei opted to explain.

"Remain calm child" he simply said. "She is very much alive and well. I only tested my powers on her" he smiled mischievously.

"And what is this strange power?" Nexine asked this time. "l have never seen anything like it". He seemed astonished.

"Yes it indeed very rare but it is real. I have the power to separate body from soul and make it do, see, and hear whatever l want it to, for as long as l want to".

"For as long as you want it to?" Steve found it hard to believe his ears.

"Yes child. I can manipulate the soul for as long as l want to but with Rain, it's going to be just for a few minutes" he said, making Florate and Lilith exhale deeply.

"But why did she enter that portal" Lilith pointed at the not so good looking portal besides Rain's lifeless body where her soul had entered.

"I led her there because that is where l can be able to manipulate her" he explained.

"Cool" Nex smiled.

"Wait to you hear the fun part. I can control her with either my thought or my words. Come close and look into the portal, so you can get the chance to see how well she does. But however, l am only going to ask of her most dominant emotion, nothing else. Every other thing in her head is private and l won't tamper with it. Understood?"

They all nodded their heads and rushed to stand before the portal, obviously curious of what Rain's dominant emotion was.

"Look closely children" he breathed before he began. He held the head of Rain's lifeless body because he could only manipulate her from there. "Rain what is the most dominant emotion in your mind" he asked calmly

Suddenly, Rain walked out of the portal, or was it something that looked like her. It was very haggard and scary, looking like someone who has been very hurt and in deep pain. "Urgh!" it growled loudly making most of them cower back in fear.

"What is that?!" Lyra asked obviously terrified.

"lt is her fear" the sensei answered calmly. "Fear is her most dominant emotion".

"OK l am definitely not going next".

"Me neither"...
