A beautiful soul destined for destruction

"I will not give up Andreas. Even if no one agrees to help me, I will do it alone. I will restore light to Gorgor and I will be reunited with you, I promise"...

*Gorgor*

"My prince"

A young Gorgorian maid walked into Andrea's room after getting through the guards in front. She bowed before him and waited for him to asked her to rise.

"Rise " he spoke bluntly. He had been in low spirits since his release from the den of shadows. He has not left his chambers and had not shown himself to the counsel of lords nor has he given any interest in the ruling of Gorgor since he returned not minding the promise he made when he returned.

"What do you want?" his voice sent chills into the spine of the young maid but she found the courage to speak nonetheless.

"Your highness. His most eminent, king Radia of Gorgor asks for your presence in his throne room to meet with the lords".

"I will be there soon. Take your leave at once". He dismissed the maid and she bowed her head and left.

"Are you really going to see them now?"

Andreas was startled. It was his childhood acquaintance Karen, lord Velskud's only daughter. She always seemed to come out of nowhere and since she mastered her teleportation and camouflage. And all she ever used it to do since they were young and recently now he had returned to Gorgor was to stalk him.

" How long have you been here?" he did not bother to look at her. He only made a disappointing sigh and stood from the chair he sat.

"Let's say since you rose from your beautiful sleep prince charming" she walked closer to him to get more of his attention but her efforts were proving abortive as he only ignored her and made his way to his closet. She overlooked his obvious actions and continued to speak. "Aren't the servants supposed to help you with that?" she asked him with her voice filled with concern.

"I don't need help to get myself dressed Karen" Andreas answered flatly. "Besides, I am have not missed their services since I left. I am doing very fine on my own".

"Oh I see" she nodded to herself and watched him enter the closet. She breathed and flung her flowing red hair behind her before speaking again. "I did not expect that you will still be able to keep track of time here".

"And what is that supposed to mean?" he asked with a sting of anger in his voice.

"I mean..." she decided to choose her words carefully not to upset him. "You have been in Triven for quite some time now, where there is sun to tell when it is daybreak. Birds to wake you up with their morning song and blooming flowers that brings sweet scent to every morning breeze. Unlike here where all that is abscent but somehow, you still managed to keep track of our new day marks here even with the everlasting darkness" the tone in her voice turned sad immediately as she looked out the window in his room to meet the heart breaking sight of their fallen world.

"If you so much like and miss all these things you just mentioned Karen, I think you should give visiting Triven a thought" Andrea's voice came from his closet. He was still getting dressed in his royal attire as he had to meet with his father and the counsel of lords.

"Never!" Karen turned at him with her gray eyes filled with disgust and her face looking very appalled with what he said. "I will never forsake my people here to go be with those Trivenians who are deserving of death. Have you no shame of your actions that you want me to do same?"

"Shame?" Andreas chuckled a bit. He came out of the closet fully dressed with a strange smile stapled on his face.

"And why are you smiling?" Karen asked with anger obvious in the sound of her voice. "We are speaking of the act of betrayal you portrayed against your people and all you can think of doing now is smile? Have you no honor left in you as the crown prince of this world? Or have you forgotten your tittle?!"

"Watch your tongue Karen!" he hollered, making her calm down a bit. "You speak to me of shame like it is anything to be compared with the pain I feel every day in this fallen world conquered by darkness. I will choose to feel that shame over and over again if it comes to leaving this place for light even if it's for a day. A single day Karen! I will do it".

"I can not believe that you are saying this Andreas" Karen's voice came with a lot of disappointment. "This is still your world and you can not forsake it. It is supposed to be your duty to find a way for us out of this misery but all you result to do is find solace for yourself. I am very disappointed and I am sorry to say this but you are no longer the prince Andreas I used to believe in. Why do I feel like I don't know you anymore?"

" That is because you don't Karen. You don't. I am a whole new person now and nothing you say will change me or make me return to my old self". He stayed no more to listened to her talks of disappointment and shame. He simply walked out on her and she didn't bother calling him back as she saw he was in no mood to listen to her now but she was not going to give up, she was surely going to make him believe on his people again and the restoration of their world. She would bring back his patriotism and rid him of any likeness pertaining to Triven and Trivenians most especially, the one her father had told her about. A young Trivenian that seemed to have won his heart. She was going to cut all ties between them because his heart belong to no one but her and his world.

(The throne room)

"Your greatness. Lords. Crown prince Andreas of Gorgor"

His presence was announced and he walked into the throne room with elegance and grace and came to a halt immediately he stood before his father. He bowed before him and waited for his response.

"Farther".

"Rise son".

He stood erect and waited to hear from his father while the lords kept silent still.

"I am elated to have you in your right senses, back with us and ready to work towards achieving our most important goal"

"Thank you father" he bowed slightly. "The feeling is mutual. I also am very happy to stand by my people" he kept a straight face.

"Good. We have waited for ages now and I believe our patience have gotten to its apex. So we have decided to act" king Radia continued to speak.

"How do you mean father?" Andreas asked.

"Since the Trivenians have refused to produce the illuminator once again, we have chosen the rare option of making one ourselves" an evil smug stapled on his face.

"How father?" his curiosity arose and was very eager to understand what his father was trying to say but the king spoke no more. He only signalled lord Velskuld and within few seconds, two guards dragged an unknown man into the throne room.

The man was in the state of a prisoner with his hands and legs cuffed with chains but that didn't get Andrea's attention like the fact that he was a not from their world. He could tell immediately he sighted the ears by the sides of his face. He turned to his father immediately with one question dropping from his lips.

"Who is this man?"

But the king still did not answer. He beckoned of lord Velskuld to. "Velskuld?"

"Of course your most eminent" the lord bowed to him before speaking. "He is from Omania your highness. A Trivenian to be precise".

"A Trivenian?" Andreas seemed shocked.

"Yes my prince. He is the head scientist, in charge of the changing of their young aspirants into mutants".

"And why have you brought him here?" he asked again and his father decided to answer him this time.

"He is here because we have charged him to bring the illuminator back to existence"

"What?"

"Yes son" he continued, not minding his sons exclamation. "He is going to give us the light mutant and we are going to use him to restore our world".

"But..." Andreas starmmed. "But how can that be?"

"How can it be?" king Radia chuckled. "It already is my son".

"It already is?" His eyes widened.

"Yes. He has already destined one of the young aspirants for that and he is just returning from Triven now with lord Velskuld after they checked and confirmed that everything is in place. They say that tomorrow is the day for their turning and I await the illuminator only and that's where you come in, I have a special assignment for you".

All these while his father spoke, Andreas did nothing but wish one thing in his mind 'may it not be Lilith' he knew very well that his father would care nothing of the life of the Trivenian in question. All that mattered to him now was how to restore his world.

"What assignment father?"

"You my son shall be the one to bring the light mutant here after the turning tomorrow".

"And who is this supposed light mutant if I may ask?" he directed the question to the scientist and lord Velskuld jolted him to speak.

"It is Rain Flake" he said weakly.

"Rain Flake?" Andreas could not believe his ears. He was glad it was not Lilith but Rain's life should not be risked this way. "Why her?"

"I knew that the turning of the light mutant was something of great power and it might end up consuming it bearer so I thought of no one else to destine with such fate other than the nobody my cherished son has decided to love, Rain Flake" the scientist answered with his voice still weak.

"You are very wicked. How could you destine her beautiful soul to such destruction, how could you?"

"I hate her around my son and hence, I did what is best for both him and the whole of Triven. You want a light illuminator, you will get one by tomorrow and don't worry, she is bond to get destroyed within twenty four hours because I am sure her DNA is too weak for the power the turning comes with".

"You..." he made to strike the scientist immediately but his father stopped him.

"Enough Andreas!" king Radia intervened. "What do you care of this Trivenian. Are you going to betray us again?"

"No father".

"Good. Now go. Prepare for the task you have been given. You may take you leave".

He bowed before him and made his way out of the throne room with rage and bitterness in his heart. What should he do now? He must not let this happen, he has to stop it somehow"...
