Chapter 9

Half an hour later.

After finishing with the memories of the three marauders, Snape returned to the Whomping Willow through the same hole.

"Here he is…" - he pointed his wand towards a large branch, a blue flash escaped from the tip, and in a moment a rather large rat fell from the tree. The magician did not chat with him, but simply used Obliviate, erasing the last seven hours from his memory, and then, taking a piece of wood with him, after turning it into a coin, he headed towards the castle.

---

Finally reaching his room, Snape threw a coin on the floor, which took the form of a large piece of wood after a few seconds.

"Well, now I can get to work," pointing his wand at him, the magician, using the element of wind, divided a large wooden piece into several dozen cubes, and then, taking one in his hand, nodded thoughtfully. "It will do,"

Snape put his wand in his sleeve, pointed a finger at it, on which the flame lit up, and began to carefully draw an unknown pattern ... After a few minutes, he turned it over and began to apply a second ... And so, half an hour later, a cube hovered in front of the magician, each the side of which was inscribed with dark symbols.

Απορρόφηση  - a rune that absorbs ambient energy,

Αιώρηση  - levitation,

Εμπόδιο  - a barrier,

Θεραπεία  - healing,

 Αντανάκλαση  - reflection and Απόκρυψη — concealment…

A simple toy, but in this world, it may well serve the locals well, and the costs in terms of magic and production are minimal. The wizard was not afraid that someone might find out about the runes, because the "concealment" rune completely hid their presence and completely random symbols appeared there to replace them, and when trying to "hack" the artifact simply self-destructed.

Snape himself only accidentally learned about the method of making this toy from one of his acquaintances, who ruined an ancient tomb, and after getting rich on those things, this thing became one of the drawings.

At first, the robber thought it was some kind of powerful artifact, but after creating and studying it, he realized that it was a simple toy to improve control, as well as a simple way to determine the talents of a young wizard for auxiliary magic.

Of course, for magicians, it was only a toy, but for ordinary people, and especially villagers, it became a protective artifact that could reflect the spells of the "Master" and save them from simple magical monsters.

For example, at the moment, Snape's strength was equal to the level of a weak "Master", and yet Snape himself was quite a talented young man. And from the knowledge that he got from the old owner of the body, he knew that quite a few magicians left the educational institution after passing the OWL, and these are mostly just "apprentices".

So such an artifact may well have a place to be, because, in addition to protection, it could also heal simple wounds. Of course, the cube will not return the torn off hand, but here's a finger, if you press it, then completely.

Also, do not forget that it does not require magic, and you can bind it simply by dropping a drop of blood.

It was the perfect protective artifact for this world, promising to bring Snape considerable profit. But, of course, the young man was not going to stop there, because he wanted to live a happy life, and so that he didn't even have to think about money and, of course, he had a lot of ideas, but this required money, and he was going to start capital earn from cubes, and then invest in his research.

"I'll do four more, and then I can wait and see how the local wizards react to my toy…"

During the evening, the magician made two more cubes and immediately went to bed, and in the morning - the last two, and then, turning them into black needles, put them in the inner pocket of his jacket.

Snape threw the remaining cubes into the closet and under the bed, and after leaving the room, sat down again in the library, continuing his search. With the pamphlet he took from the four marauders, he decided to do nothing for the time being.

The magician only checked it for tracking charms, and then safely turned it into a white needle and put it away with others.

He decided to deal with it during the holidays, when he left Hogwarts.

After sitting in the library almost until lunchtime and finding nothing of interest, he was about to get up and head to the dining room for something to eat, but a familiar voice stopped him.

"Mr. Snape," the smiling dean approached the young man." How are you feeling?"

"Professor, it's okay. Madam Pomfrey got me back on my feet pretty quickly."

"I'm glad to hear that, I see you're going to dinner, how about keeping me company?"

"I'll be glad, I just have a few questions about Potions." With the help of magic, he quickly returned the books to the shelf and followed the dean.

"Oh, questions are always welcome, I listen to you carefully."

"At the moment, I am working on one potion that can double magical abilities for a while."

"It is commendable."

"But to complete it, I need one type of mushroom that I saw in the book, and its properties were the closest to what I needed, but its name was not there." Taking out a sheet of paper, under Slughorn's slightly interested look, he quickly drew a mushroom with a thin cap.

"The hat is red with black dots, the leg is completely gray, and the mycelium… Hmm… This mushroom is called the "obsession mushroom", if the magician eats it, it will triple his magical power, but after the wizard, inevitable death awaits, I'm generally surprised that you found his description in the book…" the man muttered in surprise.

"I understand that you are going to use it as a base, weakening the effect, thereby getting rid of the poisonous part ... a good idea, but you will not succeed."

"Why?"

"Once I had a similar idea, but in the end I abandoned it. There is a chance to get rid of the poison, but then the potion will become too weak," the professor explained dejectedly, looking at the puzzled face of the young man with a smile. "But I won't talk you out of it, maybe you can succeed and do what I couldn't.

"I'll do my best!" with a proud smile, slightly sticking out his chest, the young wizard answered, which caused a cheerful laugh from the professor.

"Well, if you have any questions, you can always find me in the office."

"Sure, can I ask a few more questions then?"

"I am listening to you carefully."

"It's about the white mandrake when I—"

---

And so for the next hour, Snape continued to question the Potions master, but, of course, he tried to limit himself to the school curriculum and those books that were in the library, and also to act as "childish" as possible, because that was exactly what Snape was when it came to Potions .

After lunch, they parted again, the dean, after making sure that everything was in order with Severus, returned to his room, continuing to work, and Snape to the library, tomorrow there will be a banquet on the occasion of the end of the school year, as well as summing up, so he spent as much time as possible in the library in order to find as much information as possible about Salazar and his descendants.

Toward evening, when Madame Pince was almost kicking Snape out with kicks in the ass, a woman with a black pointed hat looked into the library.

"Mr. Snape, follow me, the headmaster is calling you," Minerva McGonagall, who is also the dean of Gryffindor, looked at him with slight indifference.

"Is it urgent?" looking up from the book at her, the wizard asked with displeasure, because he finally found something interesting about Salazar, and these were the words left by him after leaving Hogwarts, which is a rather complex anagram using several types of letters and languages.

In two hours, Snape was able to make out only one word, and then accidentally finding a mention in the historical chronicle of life, with many quotes from great wizards, and this word was "hidden", the next one began with "in ..."

"Yes." Sighing in disappointment Snape closed the book and put it on the shelf, and then all the others on the table.

"Can I call Professor Slughorn? I'm much more comfortable with him." Hearing his words and seeing the disbelief in Snape's eyes, the woman pursed her lip, feeling not very pleasant under his gaze, and after remembering the incident the day before yesterday, her mood worsened even more.

No, she was not angry at Severus, but rather at herself, for treating him so prejudiced, and somewhere in the depths of her soul the dean saw her reflection in him, because she once loved to spend whole days in the library, the hat even wanted to distribute her to Ravenclaw for her sharp mind and love for new knowledge.

"Alright, and… I also wanted to apologize to you for the occasion when I acted inappropriately."

"I understand everything, no need to apologize, let's go after Professor Slughorn, maybe The director has already been waiting for us."

"It's true…"

---

And ten minutes later, the three of them were already standing in front of the stone gargoyle statue on the second floor of the castle. "Lemon slice," Minerva said in a confident voice with a slight blush on her face, and Snape could hardly suppress a smile.

"Merry, of course, the old man…" The eyes of the gargoyle lit up, and she stepped aside, opening a spiral wooden staircase, and as soon as the magicians stepped on it, it slowly began to rise like an elevator. And after a few seconds they reached the director's office.

Snape's attention was immediately drawn to the old man sitting at the table. "Magister… although very weak, I'm surprised that such a magician can exist in this world, apparently I underestimated the local inhabitants too much, assuming that the maximum I see here is peak Masters… well, if he was in my world, he would definitely have reached the rank of the Great Archmage," although the founders of Hogwarts, according to Snape, were also Magisters, but Severus himself had a lot of information about the fact that the magicians of this time became much weaker than in the past, so the young man assumed earlier that the maximum he could see, these are peak "Masters", which is why he was surprised at the sight of an old man whose power level was equal to "Magister".

After that, the wizard shifted his gaze to another person in the office, which was Lily, who looked at the gloomy Snape with apprehension…
