Death.

A pearly drop of sweat gently dripped down Laurent's forehead. His eyes became dim and unfocused. Placing himself in a surreal predicament within such a short amount of time rattled his brain. The tap of a shoe grinding against the ground snapped Laurent out of his temporary daze. His wary lavender eyes looked up at the threat that stood before him. "How the hell did they get through!?!" Laurent thought, "God damn Nephilim bastards! They'll all die by my hand!" Laurent vowed to kill them within his mind, but in reality, there wasn't much that he could do. He was nothing more than a human with no weapon, while they had weapons built into their DNA. The Nephilim that stood before him looked on with a gluttonous glare. Drool seeped from his mouth as, in that moment, he saw Laurent as nothing more than a meal. The veins traveling along the right side of his neck began to glow with a strange red hue. The hue journeyed through his veins until it finally corroded the veins of his cheek. "Let's dig in." The Nephilim said this in a raspy voice; his calm yet terrifying words shook Laurent's mind.

Run or fight? A natural reaction of the human mind when faced with such a circumstance. If Laurent fled, then he would surely be chased down and killed, and if he fought, the same would happen. "Either way, I'm going to die." Laurent uttered as he could help but arrogantly slime. "Well, I might as well die fighting." Ya'know?" The red-haired boy spoke to himself as he looked on at a certain doom. "Bring i-" Before Laurent could even speak a word, the Nephilim had already moved to a distance of three feet. He was too fast and too fat for Laurent to even perceive him moving at all. It was clear before the battle had even started that this enemy was out of his league.

In one swift movement, the Nephilim launched a devastating blow directly into the stomach of Laurent. Blood spewed from the boy's mouth as it cloaked Nephilim's face in a thick crimson liquid. A joyous smile was painted on Nephilim's face as he licked the blood from his mouth. "Such an exquisite taste. But there's something off. Normally, there isn't a hint of foulness in Type B blood. But you.." The Nephilim continued to babble as Laurent simply stood there. His once beautiful lavender eyes became a dim purple hue. But someone like him just couldn't give up; he had to live. "Shut the hell up and fight me!" Laurent shouted, and his eyes flared as his desire to live on erupted from his body. He gritted his teeth as he launched his fist toward the Nephilim. Everything that he had left in his body was put forth in order to fight.

"Shh." The Nephilim's smile diluted into an emotionless expression; he simply put his finger against his lips, telling the boy to silence. Laurent screamed out as his fist crashed against his face. A scream of sheer pain rang throughout the hallway, with the familiar sound of snapping and crackling following it. Laurent's hand had broken upon contact with Nephilim's body. "Fuck.." As Laurent cursed the monster, blood spilled from his mouth. His legs trembled as he barely had the energy to stand on his own two feet. Though he wouldn't have to worry about standing any longer as the Nephilim flung the red-headed boy into a nearby wall, Laurent's body was covered in blood, as he barely had the energy to even move his body. "My hunger seems to grow the more you resist. The smell of your blood only makes me more excited to devour your flesh and blood." The monster screamed, trying to gain back his insanity.

"S-shut..the hell…" Laurent began to lose the strength to speak, his vision began to fade, and his body began to numb. This couldn't be how he went out, not against some nobody, Nephilim. "If this were some kind of superhero comic, then this would be the time I'd awaken some kind of power. Too bad. I really liked this life." Laurent's mind became an endless abyss, only containing the thoughts within his mind and nothing more. "The aroma of my meal. It just makes my mouth water. If you were a Nephilim, you'd understand. Our noses are hardwired to sniff out the specific type of blood that we were bound to at birth. But I guess you can't hear me, huh? Oh well." The monster continued with his chatter, which Laurent's fading body couldn't even understand.

As the red veins on the Nephilim's neck began to pulsate, blood began to leak from the monster's hand, though there had been no cut. The mass of blood that had been summoned from the beast's last victim transformed into that of a sword of blood. He began to slowly walk toward his prey, knowing very well that the meal couldn't escape. He wound the blade above his head, swinging it down with radical strength and speed. Laurent closed his eyes, not wanting to see the moment that his life ended. But it never came. As Laurent opened his eyes once again, he saw a tall boy who didn't look much older than him. His vibrant violet hair flowed in the wind as his blade clashed with that of the Nephilim's. "Gram..?"

"I thought you were dead. Since you were taking a nap against the wall and all." Gram spoke in a condescending tone. He gripped the hilt of the black katana that he wielded. The touch of the black katana alone caused the blood sword to writhe in agony, as the blood it was made from quickly dried and turned to ash. Gram quickly switched his stance to that of an offensive posture. He swung his blade diagonally, creating a deep cut in the monster's chest. The Nephilim's eyes widened as his destiny shifted; there was now someone who stood in the way of his survival. "I'll…DEVOUR YOU!!!" He screamed out in rage, leaping backward in order to gain distance from Gram.

Laurent was left in a state of shock. He was so weak that he had to be saved by the person he hated the most. He couldn't even damage the monster, and Gram was already causing him to go on the defensive. It made him angry; he coiled his dying body back in envy and hatred. Why couldn't he be so perfect? Gram. "YOU BASTARD!" Laurent yelled as blood continued to pour from his mouth. "Just leave this to me. Laurent."
