The Town

Wayne got teleported to what looked like a small town. He saw a sign near him saying 'Malton village.'

'Fuciking hell, the graphics are too real,' He thought, waving his hand around and moving his legs. The players around him were all looking happy, some seemed new like him, and some looked like veterans with various gear and equipment as if they had played for a while.

'Woah, what's with the low stats, never happened before.' Wayne would always choose to change his body from the normal one. So he always started with good stats, but the game this time just made him enter with his usual frail body.

He started walking, looking at every shop and NPC; each shop had a different thing; some had flesh hanging on their walls, and some had weapons.

'Hm...I chose marksman, should see my weapon now.' he thought about every game's inventory, and a blue screen appeared, with many slots in it amounting to 10.

There was a slingshot made of wood in one slot while 20 small circular rocks were in another. His starting gear was in the third slot where the shirt and the pant were connected, making them stay together in one space.

He clicked on the gear and frowned, finding the shirt and pants in his hand rather than already equipped. It was strange, as in other games; the clothes and gear would usually get equipped after one click.

"Tsk....annoying," he said while wearing the clothes and not being ashamed of doing it in public because of many others doing the same thing, especially the girls wearing underwear and bra.

Wayne made a mental note that everything had a sign, and the place he had to go also had one. So he walked a little until reaching it. The starting forest's name was 'Precious Wilds'; it was the perfect place for Wayne as he was not there like many youths for enjoyment but to earn money.

'The only feasible direction of gaining money would be by leveling up,' He thought.

Walking inside the forest, he saw many people fighting wolves and boars, more in groups rather than alone. But Wayne was in for it alone.

'Hah...I will earn more levels by killing them alone while these suckers share the already little EXP' Wayne snickered while looking at the various groups.

"Gotcha," he said, looking at a lone boar in front of him, with about 10 meters of a gap. Its attention was not on Wayne but on eating the grass on the ground.

Wayne looked around and found a branch just high enough for him to be safe and able to climb. In a few seconds, he got on the branch and materialized his slingshot with four rocks out of the inventory.

The slingshot was handy; Wayne checked it by stretching its rubber and grip. After everything got set, he took one rock in between the rubber and stretched. He did not choose the marksman class randomly; after playing many VR games, he found his talent in ranged weapons. The archery class was acceptable, but Wayne personally liked the marksman class.

After quickly setting his aim on the not-so-moving boar, he finally loosened his grip on the rubber, making the rock go in a straight trajectory.

PEW!

The rock hit the boar's gut, making it wince in pain.

SQUEAK!

[-6 HP]

Wayne saw the message over the boar's head; its HP had gone down to 14.

His plan was going great. The boar soon noticed him and grunted; It ran wildly towards him at high speed, not minding if hitting the tree. Wayne grinned and loaded another rock. He aimed at the boar's head which was coming close to him with every second.

The rock shot, moving at high speed, finally hitting its head.

"Hahahaha...that was easy!" he laughed loudly, getting attention from other players.

"Look! he killed the boar on his own!"

"Holy shit! I didn't know the shooting class was that good!"

"man, now I want it too! I have been stuck with you people all this time."

"Hah? the fuck you said?!"

Wayne looked at the bickering of the group on his left; they were all boys that looked just a little bigger than him. He went near where he killed the boar to get his drops but frowned.

"What the...."

There were no drops on the ground. Instead, the whole boar's corpse was on the ground with blood coming out of it. Wayne couldn't believe what he saw.

'I mean, I know the game's name is Reality online, but.....damn, that looks like real blood."

He quickly tried to put the corpse in his inventory and became delighted; the corpse vanished from the ground, leaving some blood on it. He looked at the 3rd slot finding the boar's corpse in it.

He picked the two rocks he used from the ground and went for the next prey under the surprised gazes of many. After he left, many came out of their thoughts and regretted not asking him to join their party.

Wayne ran to another boar, he saw many wolves on his way, but the problem was that they were not alone, always in a group of 3 or 4. Wayne first shot a rock on the boar's hind leg, making it limp. Then at the head, when it was visible, getting ten more EXP.

'Strange, the game doesn't have auto accuracy.....damn creators were trying to make this all look real.'

He stuffed the boar in his inventory, which, to his demise, got stored in the 4th slot and in the same as the previous boar.

'Might as well level up, Hm.....only 30 EXP left."

Meanwhile, a group of 3 girls and two boys were engrossed in looking at Wayne's fights rather than their level up.

"Sophie....why can't you shoot like him?" A boy said while looking at Wayne, who just hit another boar while weirdly giggling.

"Buck! I keep telling you! The game is just too damn real; I don't have auto-aim or even a dot telling me I am aiming right. It's like I am shooting in real life."

Buck kept looking at Wayne while listening to the same thing said by Sophie the third time.

"Let's just recruit him to our party," A girl with a beautiful face and two big mounds said. Her demeanor looked like that of a brat from an influential family.

"Yeah, Claire's right. Let me talk to him," A boy said while looking at Claire with a smug look. It was evident to them that he was trying to impress her. Claire just kept looking at Wayne with indifference.

Waye went to the boar's body, thinking how just how much money will he gain selling these.

"Hey, Brat!"

Wayne didn't react; there were always shouts coming from around him, so he couldn't tell if they were talking to him.

The boy looked back, finding some of his group's members holding their laughs. Even Claire had an amused expression on her face. Veins popped in his head, and h gritted his teeth in anger. He looked at Wayne again, who was looking at the corpse with a thoughtful expression.

"Hey, don't you see I am talking to you?!" Again, he said this time while holding Wayne's shoulder.

"Hm..?" Wayne looked back, finding a blonde-haired boy with brown pupils looking at him with a frown. He got up after taking the 3rd corpse of the boar; the height difference between both of them was next to nothing. Wayne could tell that the boy in front of him was just like him, a high-school student.

"What do you want?" He asked bluntly, not being too social. Wayne was always like that; he was an introvert who was always gaming in his free time rather than socializing. He didn't mean to be rude here; it was just that he didn't know how to react better than this.

The boy's eyes twitched, looking at Wayne's attitude towards him.

"My group and I saw you fighting with the boar, it was average, but we are offering you a helping hand. Join our party." He said, showing the pinnacle of attitude, trying to be intimidating but alas, it backfired.

"No, thank you, I can hold my own," Wayne said and looked at him as if asking if he had something else to say.

"How ungrateful! We were trying to be nice to you, brat. And you back us with a rejection." he said, getting pissed even looking at Wayne's face but still trying to poach him just for impressing someone.

Wayne had an amused expression on his face; he had the correct counter for his words.
