Basem

The city of Miami ,January first /2100

"Welcome sir Basem," said a robotic voice after Basem used the face identification to enter his office with dark circles under his eyes showing his exhaustion, a second later a metallic door opened revealing the basic office which was full of drawings and full of scraps of metal and hundreds if not thousands of his creations.

If you didn't already know basem is a mechatronics engineer who works for a prestigious company that excels in manufacturing turning machines that use AI to produce small and large parts, tools, and prototypes that employ the highest degree of accuracy and precision.

The name of the company is TECHLEX it houses over 30000 employees who work on different parts of the manufacturing process. Not many know but Techlex used to be another big company that worked in designing weapons but went bankrupt for unknown reasons and was taken by a rich afro.

Basem was the son and the sole inheritor of the CEO of Techlex before it went bankrupt but nobody knew him because the CEO (Basem's father ) was very wary of his competitors and kept his private life hidden from the public so nobody knew Basem. Basem's mother died after he was born as her body was fragile after being pregnant for 9 months she got ill and died shortly leaving Basem alone with his father.

After Basem got into his office he left his bag on the side of his working table and dropped down on his comfy work chair and started looking around his tech drawings some showed mechanical hands and some showed different types of engines and motors, finding the drawing he was searching for he got up and went to the nearby workbench with mechanical equipment ready to be used. he sat on a less comfy chair and wore his work goggles and grabbed his equipment and started working on his project.

If somebody came in and saw Basem's office they would be surprised because Basem in college was called the 'inventor' as he was at the top of his class and liked to invent things and was never shy to ask so seeing the inventor working in a messy workplace would raise eyebrows.

Hours passed and Basem heard the sound of the metallic door opening, As as fast he could he hid the project he was working on, took out another finished project, and acted as if he was working on it, "hello Basem how are you today" Basem heard his colleague Ben "great and you Ben" Basem and Ben had great relationships as they were the only human who worked at techlex as the ceo of techlex was an afro and he preferred afros working for him over humans even though human and afros lived in harmony there will always be exceptions.

Some may ask then how did Basem and Ben start working in techlex, Basem was the genius of the century as he graduated from Oxford at the top of his class so the CEO had to make an exception but nobody knows how Ben entered, the talk of the company is that bens father was a friend of the CEO and some said he entered using money and connections.

"Lets go Bassem it's break time"

"Already"

"What are you working on so hard that you forgot the time "

"Nothing much it's just the new engine lathe "

"U invention freak breathe some fresh air life isn't all about metal parts "

Basem chuckled at Ben's way of concern for him

"Don't worry I know my body well let's go I am starving "

They went to the company cafeteria together they passed a lot of afro employees which made Basem's face turn into disgust. Ben seeing basem's face, said, " u should try to hide your expression " " I am trying but it appears to be hard " Ben knew of Basem's hatred for Afros 

Because it caused a lot of problems in the company they had to give Basem a whole new office to work in.

Basem hated Afro deeply as he always held suspicions that they were doing something hideous in the shadows, but he had no evidence, he wanted to rush to the world leaders and ask them why they accepted this shady deal to happen in the first place but he didn't have a chance.

They went and bought their food and 2 coffees and as they were making their return to Basem's office to eat there an afro employee bumped into Basem and made him spill his coffee on his white shirt, "oh i am sorry didnt see u there sir " said the afro. even if a kid where to hear him he would have sensed the sarcasm. Even though the afro called Basem sir as Basem was in a higher position, everybody knew that the humans had no power in techlex as per the contract they signed before joining techlex.

Basem was seething was anger as that wasn't the first time this happened but he knew of the consequences of hurting an afro as the afro police that was made recently is cruel with their punishment so he had to respond with that same kind of sarcasm. "It's okay new employees make mistakes often so experienced employees with higher salaries have to be lenient with new employees, "said basem with a smirk and left. he knew that salary was a problem for new employees.

"Bastardd," said the afro under his breath and he promised that he would punch that orphan cocky face one day.

Basem returned with Ben to the office and Ben was the first to open his mouth "Surprisingly you dealt with this accordingly"

"I hate them but I am not stupid i know the consequences" Basem went silent for a few seconds then continued "But I will take my revenge one day i swear on my love for metal pieces "

Ben could only sigh"Good luck with that".

After eating Ben returned to his workplace and Basem returned to work on the project he hid. 5 hours in, Basem looked at the time and knew that it was time to go home but he was almost finished with the project so he decided to complete it before leaving. 

While trying to complete the project basem found himself closing his eyes tiredly as he was exhausted from the previous days of work and training mixed martial arts at the dojo near his house, basem tried to resist dozing off but he failed miserably.

At 3 am Basem woke up suddenly with cold sweat wetting the back of his shirt to something hitting his office metallic door from outside.
