42 - Doll

Later that day, Jack regained all of his energy and Sarah started making dinner while Angelica was in her room playing and David watched TV.

Jack was with David watching TV.

Unfortunately, David had commandeered the remote from Jack and started watching some sports.

As Jack watched the sports with David he thought about even though he wasn't that into sports he does recognize some teams but doesn't recognize some others, of course, he could just not have known about them since he wasn't into sports when he was still alive.

Speaking of he did find some TV shows he recognized as well but he's having a hard time accepting this world as his old world.

It could just be a parallel Earth with similar shows.

He did not want this world to be his, because then he would know that his family is out there potentially grieving for him and he is just lingering in this place purposely not looking for them because he is afraid of what's out there.

He felt cowardly as he thought about it.

He glanced at his system notifications again.

'Maybe... I should...' Jack thought as he debated on clicking "Continue" on the notification.

'Maybe I should just do it and move on.' He thought as he tried to gather his courage and click "Continue".

But as he was gathering his courage he heard Sarah yell that dinner was ready and David shut the TV off before going to get his daughter for dinner.

Jack was broken from his thoughts by the yell and chickened out.

'Later...' Jack thought to himself and got up to go to the kitchen.

As Jack entered he saw Sarah setting the table and decided that he should help her, for some giggles.

He focused on his hands and grabbed a clean plate before he placed it on the table.

Sarah watched bug-eyed and wide-mouthed as the plate floated over to the table and gently landed on it.

A couple of seconds after that some cutlery did the same and landed separately next to the plate.

When the knife and fork landed on the right and left side respectively, Sarah acted like she saw nothing and continued setting the table up.

Lucky for her only one set was done for her by Jack and after she finished setting the table she hesitated before saying,

"Thank you, Jack, for helping set the table."

Then she started putting food in the middle of the table before she sat down in her chair to wait for the rest of the family.

She didn't have to wait long before David entered the kitchen with Angelica in his arms.

"Looks and smells delicious, right sweetie?" David said and then asked Angelica as he walked to the table and smelt the food.

"Yeah!!" Angelica nodded her tiny head like she was a chicken pecking rice while staring at the food on the table.

David set her down on her seat before he sat in his chair.

"Jack helped set the table." Sarah said after he sat down.

"Uhhh... Did he now?" David was stun locked by her statement and didn't know how to respond.

But after receiving a glare from her he quickly said,

"Well, Thank you so much for helping Jack." David smiled forcibly.

The couple sat in silence for a minute.

"I'm hungry!" Angelina broke the silence as she whined and exaggeratedly held her stomach.

The couple woke up before Sarah started putting food on Angelica's plate for her while David got his own.

After she gave her daughter some food, she got her own and the family started chowing down as Jack watched.

'I wonder if there is any ghost food I can eat...' Jack enviously thought as he missed being able to eat good food and drink soda.

As Jack reminisced about all the good things like pizza and chicken alfredo he started getting depressed so he stopped.

He couldn't sit there and watch them anymore because he felt himself getting cravings for food.

So he exited the kitchen and entered the living room to watch TV.

The family was eating when they heard the TV in the other room turn on and started changing channels.

David and Sarah glanced at his other and decided to ignore it.

After a few minutes, Jack Checked his status to see if he gained any experience.

Jack once again realized it was getting harder and harder to level.

After dinner was eaten the father and daughter duo joined Jack in the living room while Sarah cleaned up.

David has commandeered the TV again so Jack decided to play with Angelica.

Jack picked up the doll and hovered it in front of her.

"hehehe." Angelica giggled cutely and grabbed the floating doll from Jack.

Jack didn't know what to do next.

He doesn't know what little girls like to play.

'!!!' Suddenly Jack had an idea, he's seen shows and documentaries about spirits possessing dolls so he decided to give it a try

Jack willed himself to possess the doll in Angelica's arms and felt himself become tiny as he did.

'Woah, this is weird.' He thought as he got used to the sensations.

His sensations were off, and his limbs felt weird.

As he tried to move his arm it was easy since it was a plush doll.

He imagined himself possessing a barbie doll and trying to move with stiff limbs and his ghostly face paled.

Angelica looked down at the doll that suddenly started moving on its own and even she got scared a little from the new event.

Jack stopped possessing the doll when he saw his experience go up a percentage since he didn't want to scare her.

Angelica didn't see the doll do anything else but she still didn't feel safe so she put the doll down and ran to the couch to her father to watch TV with him.

'Hmmm, maybe I could use this to get some experience from the parents.' Jack imagined their frightened faces when they saw a doll walk by itself and felt that it was a great idea, he didn't know why he didn't think of it sooner.
