41 - Family

Jack was relaxing on the couch in the living room when he heard the front door open and little feet softly trotting on the floor.

When he looked toward the front of the house he saw Angelica come running in with Sarah who smiled wryly at her as she followed.

"Mommy, come play house with me." Angelica said with a big, sweet smile on her face.

She grabbed some of her dolls and scurried over to her mother who just entered behind her.

"Only for a little while and then I have to make lunch." Sarah said with a pampering smile as she went to play with her daughter.

Jack watched them and wondered where David was, but he didn't have to for long as he heard the door open and close again.

Jack saw David enter the house and walk to the living room.

Sarah and Angelica were sitting there playing with dolls when Sarah saw her husband enter she looked at him curiously.

"Everything is ok for now." David said to her and she looked visibly relieved when she heard him.

"That's good, by the way, are you sure it was ok for Angelica to skip today?" Sarah asked.

"It's okay it's just one day. everything will be okay." David replied.

"Fine, but we can't do this often, lest she gets spoiled." Sarah sternly said.

"Of course honey." David said with a smile.

They allowed Angelica to skip school today because they stayed at her grandmother's last night.

David walked over to the couch and Jack had to scramble up before Jack got sat on as David sat down and turned the TV on.

Jack started watching TV with David as he absentmindedly checked his system.

Jack saw how low his energy was compared to his max and decided to just let it refill since there was no point in hurrying to level right now.

After a few hours passed Sarah went to the kitchen to make lunch and Angelica took over the TV from her father.

"Dear we're going to need groceries soon!" Sarah yelled out to David.

David beard her and decided to just go talk with her alone while Angelica watched TV so he got up and made his way to the kitchen.

"Just make a list and I'll pick up what I can after work tomorrow, but remember I have to work overtime." David said as he walked into the kitchen and sat at the table only getting a nod of acknowledgment from Sarah.

"By the way, the investigators said they will go over the evidence and then come back in a few days to show us what they gathered."

"They also said we have nothing to worry about for now and to treat Jack like a roommate." David told her what the investigators said.

"What about... you know..." Sarah hesitated to speak her mind because of Jack's potential invisible presence, unknown to them he stayed in the living room with Angelica to each TV.

"They said it's not possible for now." David understood what she was asking about so he answered her.

"Okay... well it's not too bad for now anyways." Sarah conceded as she finished lunch and stsrted setting the table.

"Angelica its lunch time, come eat!" After setting the table Sarah walked to the kitchen entrance and yelled to the living room.

"Okay!" Angelica replied before you walked to the kitchen.

Jack stayed in the living room.

He didn't feel like watching them eat, after all, he can't anymore.

Jack was currently staring at the system notification he received earlier.

He was so tempted to click continue to see what happens.

He was debating the pros and cons in his head.

The pros are potentially new a haunting place with different people.

The cons are the unknown.. at least here he knows what's going on.

Eventually, he held himself back from the temptation and forced himself to close the system and focused on his hand to change the channel since everyone left and he was tired of watching kid shows.

....

Later after lunch when the family cleaned up they noticed the TV had changed channels.

"Looks like Jack is watching TV." David said jokingly but knowing that he was probably right.

Sarah rolled her eyes at him and the couple snuggled together on one side of the couch while Angelica played with toys.

The couple enjoyed their time together for a bit as Jack tried his best to ignore them to avoid dark and jealous thoughts because he never got a chance for such a life.

He stared straight at the TV and only started Angelica a glance as he watch her play.

'She is such a sweet girl.' Jack thought and wished he had such a sweet little sister.

Unfortunately, he only had a big devil that he never thought he would miss.

Jack slapped his cheeks to get out of his depressing thoughts and decided to enjoy the TV so he started flipping through the channels.

The couple watched with faces of resignation that said ' I see nothing, and everything is ok.' as they watched the channel change.

They had to get used to Jack, but seeing the channel change brought them out of their sweet world of love.

They both felt awkward knowing there is a fourth person who is not part of their family living in their house.

Jack saw their reactions and felt much better.
