28 - First pt.1

After checking the footage of the orb, the crew other than Zach went to get some sleep while Zach stayed awake for his first shift.

During the break, Jack watched the family gather a few things while he planned.

Unfortunately, Zach didn't say when each person's shift starts and ends so he could only guess with the 4 of them he will at least have a couple of hours with them alone to scare them.

He planned to only spend about 12 energy for every shift and then go all out at the end.

After Zach saw the family off halfway through the break he started gathering his gear and preparing.

First, he grabbed a handheld thermal camera, and a normal infrared camera, and then he grabbed a handheld EMF.

After that, since everyone else is asleep, he allowed the cameras to be viewed on the website again and then walked out to the front of the house before pointing the camera at himself and starting the broadcast again.

"Welcome back from the break and thanks to those people who are staying with me this late."

"The shift schedule is me until 1 am, then Adam to 3, then James to 5, and then Bully to 8 the next morning."

"We will all be using whatever equipment we want all over the house."

"Right now I have a thermal camera and EMF that will light up when a spirit it nearby and I plan on going to the most active place for us." Zach gave a dramatic pause before continuing.

"The basement."

"The basement has been specifically active for us so I plan to focus the most in there."

"Let's get started." Zach finished before he turned the camera around and started going into the house.

Unfortunately, Jack wasn't outside the house to hear the schedule and Zach started a bit early so he was a bit surprised when he heard someone enter the house.

Zach made his way through the dark of the house using his infrared camera and headed for the basement with thermal in hand and EMF in his pocket.

Jack followed him down while checking the notifications he got when he neared Zach.

Effect: 5% chance to appear at no cost and 2 energy costs to appear per second.

Effect: Detects the user's current energy level for 0.1 energy a second.

When Jack saw the thermal he was confused why there was a chance to appear without spending energy.

But then he remembered that sometimes when someone else passes through him or he passes through someone they shiver. so maybe without even realizing he passively generates cold air which would explain why the thermal could detect him.

As Zach got down to the basement he took the EMF and put it in the middle of the room, he made sure it was in view of the stationed camera before he backed up and pointed the thermal at it.

"Jack are you here?"

"Can you let me know if you are by touching that device over there?"

Zach pointed at the EMF.

"It will light up if you touch it." He explained.

Jack wondered if Zach knew that it lights up because it measures his energy or thought it can just detect a spirit near it.

He also wondered if it would work the same for other spirits or if it is just him that the device works that way.

While he thought about whether his ghostly nature was special, he walked over to it and waved his hand near it.

The EMF lit up almost the whole way and Zach said, "Great, thank you." he made sure his camera was pointed at it and checked the thermal but didn't see anything on it.

"Can you make a noise or move something for me?" Zach asked and Jack wondered what he should do.

He has to live up to his reputation after all so it has to be pretty decent.

After some silence, Zach was about to ask another question when Jack decided on what to do and acted immediately.

Suddenly the light switch turned on and Zach instantly moved his two cameras over to look at it.

He noticed the light switch was colder than normal so he went closer to take a look at it with the thermal.

"Did you turn that on?" Zach asked.

"Yes." Jack replied still standing in front of the switch.

Zach suddenly heard a voice right in front of him and froze for a second.

"Was that you who just spoke Jack?" Zach asked as he gathered himself.

'Who else would it be?' Jack rolled his eyes

'There is no one else here besides me and you.' Jack Sarcastically thought.

Zach walked over with the thermal, pointed at the switch, and saw part of the switch was colder than the other part.

"Look at this." Zach spoke to the audience as he pointed his video camera to record the thermal screen.

"Looks like a finger print."

Zach observed it and made sure the camera could see it clearly before he then asked, "Can you turn it off for me?"

Jack did as he was asked and immediately flipped it.

"Oh My God, it flipped down right in front of me."

Zach excitedly turned the camera so the audience could see his face and said excitedly,

"I hope I got that."

"Thank you for that."

"Can you make something float down here?"

Zach asked Jack but Jack hesitated because if he did, it might cost a good amount of energy.

Eventually, he decided to lift the EMF because it could be seen by the stationed camera and was hopefully pretty light.

Jack moved towards the EMF going through Zach as he did.

"Woah, I just got a cold burst of air pass here." Zach said as he held his arms out and circled to see where it was going.

But he didn't have too long to figure it out as Jack picked the EMF up about a foot before dropping it and making a loud sound.

All the while the EMF was going crazy and Jack noticed it didn't cost any extra energy while he was lifting it.

Zach shook and looked towards the EMF as it started making a sound and when he saw the EMF hit the floor, he almost ran to it while pointing the camera at it to show it moved.

"This EMF just floated up and dropped."

" I don't think I got it on camera but as you can see it is definitely not how I left it." Zach said but then he remembered the stationed camera was facing here.

" Hopefully the stationed camera caught it."

After that Jack decided to just stop for now because that cost him a lot more energy than he wanted to spend this shift.
