The Revelation

It took Victor nearly an hour to pacify the three little ghosts, as their big sister joined in later as well. No matter what, they were only small children in the end.

Visibly exhausted and a little annoyed Victor bid farewell to Oberyn.

"I will now go back to rest. We didn't get discuss anything important. You can tell your mother the negotiations will start tomorrow two hours after lunch. Before that we still must come to a conclusion about what started our little fight three years ago. Don't worry I won't bother you to leave your family again, that was my mistake. But I will have to come to a new agreement to bring our family closer. I will need the consent of your older brother and future heir of House Martell, so invite him to your residence tomorrow morning. You might as well invite your sister-in-law; I am sure she will appreciate her involvement in the discussion. Don't underestimate a noble woman of the free states when it comes to negotiations."

Oberyn was surprised by Victor's plea but still complied in the end. He was extremely curious about what Victor would reveal tomorrow, as his brain nearly started smoking whenever he tried to understand Victors thought process.

The night went by quickly and peacefully and Victor woke up very refreshed. He didn't feel all that strange about sleeping and waking up in a different room from his home. He traveled all over the world in his past life and studied at different universities for many years.

While being protected by his closest guardians he arrived at Oberyn's residence and was quickly invited in by the servants. This time he didn't receive a surprise attack by one of Oberyn's daughters. Oberyn and Doran were already waiting in the living room for Victor to arrive.

"Hallo Prince Doran, I am very glad you agreed on this private meeting. I hope Oberyn didn't talk too bad about me in private." Victor opened the conversation while shaking Doran's hand.

"I hope you enjoyed your first night in Dorne, Victor. Everything Oberyn said about you raised my interest in the young genius of the Di Natale family. I am very interested in the important things you would like to discuss with us. I was very surprised by your intent to invite me. I assume you would talk to my mother if you wanted to reach an important cooperation with House Martell." Doran responded to the handshake and explained patiently.

Victor continued the conversation.

"That is certainly true, but without being disrespectful, I think the future of House Martell should be discussed by the younger generation. And today we might make a decision that will be heavily influenced by you, Prince Doran. I wouldn't want to let your mother make this choice, even if she could. You will understand soon. Let me first explain to you why your brother and I had such a huge disagreement over three years ago. You might be able to understand why we are meeting together today afterwards."

They all took their place at the table, everyone having a glass of the finest wine of Dorne in their hand. Victor didn't expect anything else than alcohol at Oberyn's house. When the mood turned more serious Victor began with his explanation.

"Three years ago, I wanted to further develop the power of House Di Natale in Westeros, but I needed an entry point and chose Dorne, because I was very familiar with Oberyn. But my plans included a lot of secrecy, which meant increasing my trust in Oberyn was a certainty. I gave him the opportunity to join House Di Natale and leave House Martell behind."

Victor noticed the surprise in Doran's eyes, but they were no sign of anger. His patience was certainly impressive. As if he just heard something very casual.

"You might think Oberyn would simply decline something as unreasonable as that. But it took him three days and three nights to think about it, before finally denying my offer. Would you mind guessing what I offered Oberyn?" Victor said with a joking voice.

Doran thought quietly for a minute before finally responding.

"I am surprised Oberyn didn't fight you to death after your offer. You are very brave to ask something like that of my stubborn brother. No wealth, power or fame in this world could make Oberyn abandon his family. There is only one person in this world Oberyn values enough for him to even think about such a suicidal move, as the Dornish would never forgive him something like that. Our dear sister, Elia Martell. But I don't understand why Oberyn would be so concerned about Elia. As far as I am concerned there is nothing wrong with Elia, in the contrary she is very happy with her engagement." Doran was little confused in the end.

"Well, it is always nice talking to smart people. My bargaining ship is quite interesting. I told Oberyn that without my interference Elia Martell would die in the not-so-distant future." Victor said emotionlessly.

The calm prince finally lost a bit of his composure, clenching his fists and showing signs of anger on his face. After taking a few heavy breaths he regained his calm appearance, but still asked impatiently:

"Why would a crown princess suddenly die?"

Victor didn't respond but asked Doran a question of his own.

"Prince Doran, let's say, hypothetically, if a royal family were to be pulled down from the throne and a usurper would become the new king. What would happen to the royal family members?"

A long silence followed on Victor's question. But eventually it was Oberyn who answered for his older brother with a single word.

"Liquidation"
