Chapter 244: Raymont's thoughts and Varys's end
Nothing of this surprised Raymont since he knew all that before. The only thing that made him change his expression was his mother's death. He did not expect his father to go this far and hurt his mother in the process. Although his relationship with his mother was bad, it only turned into this because his mother changed.
And after hearing Varys's words, he finally knew the reason why she became like this. It turned out his father had a hand in all this. Raymont knew that his father had something to do with her death, but he did not know that his father had a hand in her change.
It was the first time that Raymont thought of Edward as an idiot and a stupid man. Because he disliked her soft behavior, he created a monster that he could not control with his own hands. Raymont tried to put himself and Rhaenys or Daenerys in Edward and Ashara's place, but he could not even imagine hurting them like that.
"What do you expect me to do? Hurt my father? Even if I got hurt because of my mother's death, Do you want to kill my father as well?" Asked Raymont with a gloomy expression on his face after thinking about all this stuff.
"I will admit one thing, your highness. Your father is the greatest and worst ruler in this world. What he has done would be written in history for thousands of years. And the projects and welfare that he started in his empire, no one could make them again. But what do you think if the same man, who made all those miracles come true, turned mad for losing his child or for another reason? what do you think would happen to the realm or his empire?" Asked Varys with a gloomy tone as he looked at Raymont. He really respected Edward for everything he had done, but he also saw more than that, and if what he was afraid of happened, millions would die.
"I will think about it." Said Raymont as he told them to leave him. Although he was angry at his father for hurting his mother, he liked his father and knew how his father loved his children. But his desire to rule this world made something change a little in his heart.
But before Raymont could forget, he called Mark, who was waiting outside. He could not leave this variable life. Even if Raymont was angry at his father, he would not let others harm him.
"You know what to do, Mark? Make sure that they are dead this time. You don't mind, Orys, right?" Asked Raymont as he looked at his brother since Tyrion should be his uncle. And according to what he knew, Myrcella liked her youngest uncle, Tyrion.
"Yeah, go with it." Said Orys as if he did not care at all. He lost his usual cheerful look. As for his wife, she already thought that he died and would not hurt, making sure that he died.
"Let's go back after this." Said Raymont as he retreated to his tent. He had to think of his next move after this. He could not go against his father, and he was afraid to face his father with the truth. But he decided to do that after taking down King's Landing from Cersei.
After stabilizing the realm and integrating every part in it, Raymont would go to his father and ask for an explanation. Even if his father did not answer, Raymont did not think he would fight his father for his dead mother.
Raymont even thought that he could force his father to let him take the throne using this excuse. Raymont did not know that Edward planned to do that even if he did not ask for this. Edward thought that he had already had enough since he enjoyed his life in this realm, and he would like to retreat to Old Valyria.
But Raymont would not ever think that the situation would never go as he planned since the coming events would shock everyone and change everything in a moment.
As for Mark Flip, he followed the two men after receiving the order from his prince, Raymont. He would never let those two people out of his sight and even asked members of the shadow legion to help him since Raymont did not accept failure. Raymont told him to kill Varys first since the prince thought that this man was the most dangerous between the two.
After Varys and Tyrion entered the tent, which Raymont prepared for the two, Mark and his group surrounded the tent without making any noticeable movement that would make Varys and Tyrion doubt them.
After seeing that everyone was in his place, Mark entered the tent since he planned to kill Varys using surprise.
"Why are you here?" Asked Tyrion with a surprising look as he looked at Mark, who entered the tent without asking for permission.
Tyrion had a look of doubt in his eyes as he looked at Mark.
"His highness, prince Raymont asked me to see if the two of you needed something. He also wanted some answers from Lord Varys." Said Mark with a smile on his face that Raymont taught him. Mark was Raymont's friend and Mace Flip's son, so he was a good politician and knew quite well how to hide his expression well.
Since Varys did not doubt Raymont and his men, he did not see anything wrong with Mark following him to the tent. Maybe Raymont did not want his brother, Orys, to hear what he was going to ask, and he sent his guard to ask for the answers.
Mark's appearance had many probabilities, but Varys did not think Raymont would kill him after hearing the things he knew. Varys thought that Raymont was the best choice he could support. Raymont was the only one he could use to replace Edward.
"What does prince Raymont want to know?" Asked Varys as he came close to Mark. Although Varys trusted Raymont, he still felt wary of everyone around him after everything he had been through in his life. That was why he kept some distance between him and Mark.
"Well, you see..." Said Mark as he started asking some questions that Raymont had prepared for him. He did that because he did not want Varys to take drastic measures to save himself. Varys even managed to escape from Edward's trap.
Although Varys did not get out of the trap without any injuries, it was the first time that Edward's plans for someone he wanted to die to fail like that. That was why Raymont had to kill that man who managed to survive after his father's plans.
When Varys let his guard down as he started to explain everything that Mark asked, Mark used the chance when Varys turned his head to pick up a piece of evidence to stab him in the back with his short sword.
As for Tyrion, who saw all this happen with his own eyes, he could not believe that his friend died like that. He did not know if he should be angry at Varys for not listening to him or blame himself for coming here.
Before long, another seven men entered the tent after receiving Mark's signal. When they got in, they found Varys's mouth ripped apart by Mark's hand while another dagger came out from his chest.
Tyrion could only shake his head after seeing all this. He held his cup and drank some wine before looking at his friend's corpse before speaking again.
"I told you before, you cockless bastard. How could Raymont be different from Edward? I can tell that Raymont was a hidden fox that was much more dangerous than Edward, but you did not listen. At least, I would have a chance to survive if we went to Edward, but I am probably going to die as well this time, right?" Said Tyrion after drinking more wine while looking at Varys before turning to Mark and asking that question.
Mark did not answer but moved close to Tyrion while his guard was up since he did not trust the imp. Tyrion did not resist since he did not find a way out, and there was no chance for him to survive from a hidden fox like Raymont.
