At Stacy's House-EE

As soon as they drove off, I noticed that Stacy dropped one of her books. I opened it and saw her address in it. I read the address, and saw that it was next door to this one. I went over, knocked on the door, introduced myself, explained what had just happened to her mother and gave her the book. I was starting to walk away when she said, "Why don't you come in?"

I walked in and sat down on the couch in the living room. I stared at the wall as Stacy's mom made some herbal tea. I knew she was making it because I could smell it. I looked around.

Wow, this house is so big!, I thought as Mrs. Coleman came into the room holding two tea cups and a teapot on a tray, "Tea?" she offered.

"No, thank you, I'm good," I say in reply.

"If you say so," she said, "So, explain to me again, what happened?"

"Stacy invited me over and she asked if it was okay if we made a quick stop, and I told her that she could stop somewhere if she needed to. We went to the house next door, and she knocked on the door. A woman answered. I couldn't hear what they were saying and about a minute later, she jumped and ran inside the house. When she came out, the woman was holding a boy. Stacy came up to me as the woman took the boy to the car and she told me that he wasn't doing so well. She got in the car and they left, and I noticed that she dropped her book. I opened it and found this address, so I came here," I told her as she looked at me with a sad look in her eyes.

"Do you know who that boy is, Eric?"

"No, who is he?"

"He has been her best friend since childhood, Mason. She just saw her best friend collapse, Eric"

"Oh...I'm-I'm so sorry," I said, feeling pain for Stacy.

Do I like her? Do I like Stacy? Why am I feeling pain for her?

"It's okay, you didn't know," she said. She must've seen the look on my face because she added, "What's on your mind, Eric?"

"I think I like Stacy!" I blurted out without thinking.

Wow, good one, Eric. I thought. We talked for another fifteen to thirty minutes before Stacy walked in through the front door.
