Forged In Hell - Shadow Slave Fanfic

The first memory Shirou can think of is walking through a burning cityscape. The sounds of people calling for help as they burn to death could be heard across what can only be called hell. He walked through this hell holding onto a bundle of blankets that seem to be wrapped around something… or someone. Only two thoughts ran through Shirou’s mind. “Survive” and “Never again”. 8 years later, 14 year old Shirou lived in the NSQC with his little sister Miyu after being saved by a man named Kiritsugu, who recently passed away. Shirou, desperate for something to fill his empty vessel, adopted the dream of Kiritsugu—to become a Hero of Justice. Opportunity arises as Shirou is infected by the Nightmare Spell, and has been given the chance to realize his dream. ———————————————————— This story is a crossover between the Fate Series(minor) and Shadow Slave(major), with inspiration from other series and fanfiction. I do not own either of the previously mentioned series, as I would be insanely rich if I did. I highly recommend that you read Shadow Slave if you have not already, as you will be heavily spoiled on it. Fate Series knowledge is not necessary to fully understand Shirou’s character or abilities, as they are the only things that will be included from Fate(excluding the existence of Miyu and Kiritsugu). To any Fate fans, if Shirou seems to act OOC later on, there is a reason for that, and will be explained in the story. I hope you enjoy this story, and if you see anything that seems like a mistake, I would appreciate you commenting so that I could look into it, whether grammar or the story itself.

Prologue - His Own Nightmare

In the midst of the aftermath of a Level 3 gate opening, a boy holding onto what seems to be an infant is slowly walking through the flames. Around them, countless people can be seen screaming for help. The boy ignored them, as his only concerned with the survival of him and his sister.

After an unknown amount of time, the boy's legs gave in. He found it difficult to breathe, as the flames burned through the oxygen at an astonishing rate, showing that they are not of a mundane nature. The boy cradled the bundle of blankets to his chest as he laid down on his back.

When faced with death, humans may see their life flash before their eyes. Even so, the boy cannot remember a single thing before this catastrophe. He can barely remember his name and the name of the infant that he recognises as his sister.

As the boy laid his empty gaze upon the moon, he asked himself, why is this happening? Why does so many people have to go through this?

As he figured he would never get those questions answered, he laid on the rubble, staring listlessly as he waits for his own demise. That is when he noticed a man with messy black hair, wearing a trench coat run over to him at inhuman speeds.

The man takes his little sister out of his hands, before summoning a golden sheath out of white sparks. He proceeds to place the sheath on the boy's chest, before the sheath dissapeared in a flash of golden light. The man grabs the boy's hands.

"Thank goodness," the man said, as he cried tears of joy.

The boy was confused. He wondered why the man was so happy when he was the one who was saved. As he stared at the man who was smiling down upon him, he had one last thought before he closed his eyes.

Can I ever smile like that?

Thanks for reading the prologue!

This is my first time writing anything seriously, so I would appreciate any feedback, whether positive or negative. When it comes to the timeline, Shirou will be going to the forgotten shore with Sunny and the others. Shirou’s aspect is going to be a mix between his own canonical abilities, Muramasa’s abilities, with some other random inspirations that seem to work with Shirou’s moveset. I also designed a flaw around Shirou’s character, as flaws usually function as blessings in disguise, such as Sunny being able to make genuine bonds, and Nephis not completely losing her humanity. Some of you Shadow Slavers may ask about what I plan to with Morgan(Shadow Slave not Fate), and I have plans. Plans indeed.

I have completely designed Shirou’s aspect up to transcendance, and the only thing I need to design for him is memories and echoes, so if any of you have memory or echoe ideas, please share them in the comments.

When it comes to how often I will be releasing new chapters, I will be able to do so relatively often as I am currently on summer break. I will start releasing chapters less school starts up again, but I’ll be a senior so hopefully my teachers are chill about giving out work.

And with that, I hope you guys enjoy Forged In Hell.
