Don't Go
Mrs. Robert was so excited that her husband was now a councilman.
Though she was surprised at first, it was a great opportunity for her family.
"Have the invitation sent to Melanie tomorrow. This promotion worth celebration, " Mrs. Robert said with bouncing legs.
The handmaid nodded and left the study room.
" Did you see Melanie while in the palace?" Mrs. Robert ask and poured tea for her husband.
" No. I didn't want to disturb the Lord. I think the Lord have a soft spot for our daughter," Mr. Robert's eyes was twinkling with unseen happiness.
Mrs.Robert shifted her attention from the tea and look at her husband who was having a big grin on his face.
"What do you mean a soft spot?"

Darrick and Melanie returned to Melanie's little house close to the forest late at night.
Melanie's head was still fuzzy about all that was happening right now. One minute she was staring at Darrick and other, she was back in her house. she grab onto Darrick tightly as he opened the door and step inside.
After shutting the door, Darrick head to her room still carrying Melanie in his arms. She was light and fragile and he wondered what would happen if she was taken by Siegfried.
Darrick laid her on the bed and was about to leave for the kitchen but Melanie's grip on his sleeve stopped him.
She blinked her eyes at him. "I'm not leaving, you should eat something," Darrick said in a low voice.
Melanie unclench her hands from his shirt and drop them to her sides." What's happening and why did you..., " Melanie was interrupted by Darrick.
" Shh..., save your strength," Darrick pressed his finger gently on her lips to stop her from speaking.

When she was done eating, Darrick left the room so she could have her privacy.
"Why..., so you came to her rescue?" Cedric was standing not too far from Melanie's house.
He knew Darrick wouldn't leave like that except it was of urgency.
"Siegfried came. I believe he knows about the deaths of the townsfolk," Darrick said to his brother.
" Of course he would know, if not, why would he appear at such an odd time and why was he planning to kidnap Melanie." Cedric was angry.
" It's okay. Go back to Fergus, I'll be back tomorrow, " Darrick ordered his brother before walking away lazily with his hands in his pockets.
Cedric arch the brow on one of his eyes in question while staring at Darricks's retreating back. If only Darrick would listen to him. He sighed helplessly and walk away from there.

Melanie sat on the foot of her bed and watch Darrick closely. "Tell me what happened!" She balled her fist in annoyance.
"Calm down Melanie...,"
"I'm not going to calm down. Can't you tell me what happened out there? I'm not scared!" Melanie cried out for goodness sake.
She didn't know what happened and why he showed up . She couldn't forget that his palms were covered with blood.
"Your carriage was attacked by a group of bad vampires," Darrick didn't want to tell her about the real meaning of the 'bad vampires'.
"And you killed them?" Melanie's nerves relaxed a little but she became self-conscious about Darrick.
"I'm not going to kill you Melanie, and perhaps, not now." Darrick changed his position on the couch and lay on his back while staring at the ceiling.
" You're going to kill me? " Melanie quickly shut her mouth when Darrick glared at her.
He stood up from the couch and walk towards her. His disheveled hair and masculine face made him alluring.
Melanie pulled back her little head when Darrick pushed his head forward. "Melanie, sleep!" He said harshly and spin on his heels to leave the room.
"Don't go" She said almost like a whisper. Darrick halted in his steps and look back to the girl who was curled up inside the blanket.
"What? You want me to stay?" There was a hint of laughter in his voice. He had never seen such a lady before.
Melanie blink. What's wrong with her? He's their Lord.
Darrick threw a quick glance at Melanie before sitting on the bed to remove his shoes.
Melanie held her breath and watch him pull off the shoe. He climb into the bed and used the blanket to cover himself.
Melanie quickly turn faced the other side of the room. Her face was covered in warm red shades and her heart fluttered on her chest.
Darrick heard the humans heartbeats beside him clearly.
"What are you thinking Melanie?"
Melanie blushed even more. It was then she realized that he was saying her name without any formality.
"I can hear your heartbeat racing clearly Melanie. It's so loud that my ears are going to ache the next day," this time, he turned her to face him.
Melanie's eyes widened in awe, they were so close that she was able to see the color of his iris.
" What are you doing?" Her question fell on deaf ears as Darrick spin her to face him.
"You haven't answered my question," he pick a lock of her hair and starts playing with it.
Melanie didn't say anything because she was now feeling dizzy. She closed her eyes to rest. Today was really an unlucky day for her.
Darrick stare at the peaceful sleeping face of Melanie. A warm smile grazed his lips but it didn't reach his eyes.
"I'm not good for you Melanie," he whispered, then he also closed his eyes.
