Chapter 44

Max's POV:

As Priscilla slept soundly, I gently massaged her feet. Although I didn't want to admit it, I had missed her a lot. I wasn't sure when we had become so close or why I was missing her now, so I quickly pushed the thought away. My only focus now was to show Dave and Nelly what the hell looks like.

I picked up Priscilla gently in my arms and started to make my way upstairs to her room. When I arrived at her room, I pushed the door open and went in. I placed her carefully on the bed and tucked her in with a blanket. After looking at her one last time, I left the room.

Reaching the sitting room area, I sat on the couch. I had already told Marie to bring all the staff members for a meeting.

After a few minutes, all the maids were standing in front of me.

"Sir, you called us here," Marie said politely, and I nodded.

"A new maid is coming into this house, and I want to inform you all beforehand that no one is allowed to help her with anything. You shouldn't be nice to her or treat her kindly. I want you all to be harsh on her, and if anyone tries to help her, just know that you are fired, and I hope I've made myself clear," I said, my tone holding no emotions. This was the beginning of Nelly's suffering. In her next seven lives, she won't even think of cheating, not even by mistake.

"If you all understood what I just said, then you can go back to work," I said. All the maids made their way out of the sitting room except for Marie.

"What is it, Marie?" I asked, my eyes on her. I knew she wanted to tell me what happened here while I was away.

"Sir, it's about Ms. Priscilla. When you weren't at home, I think she was having a very hard time sleeping. She used to cry and scream in her room. Sometimes she didn't go to sleep at all, she would sit by the pool all alone at night, without even getting a wink of sleep. I think something is wrong with her, Sir," Marie explained. I felt a pain in the back of my throat, and my lips trembled a little. I knew how unfair I had been to Priscilla after promising her that I would always be there for her. I just left her. She had told me that she couldn't sleep alone, but despite all that, I just left.

"Did anything else happen while I was away?" I asked, trying to swallow the lumps forming in my throat.

"Ms. Priscilla was so worried about you. The first day you left, she slept in the sitting room, on the couch waiting for you, but you never came. She was so worried sick, she would ask me every day if I knew where you were or if you were fine or not. I think she cares about you, sir," Marie said. I wish Nelly cared about me as much as Priscilla does, but unfortunately, she doesn't care about my feelings at all, and the person I don't consider my own cares a lot about me.

"Oh, and yes sir. I almost forgot to tell you. Ms. Priscilla had won the competition at her workplace. She was in first place for making a dress that sold well in the market. She was so happy that day that she even went with her mom's ashes and threw them into the sea. Ms. Priscilla is nice," Marie said. It seems like a lot has happened in 2 months while I was away. I forgot to ask Priscilla where she was working.

"Thanks, Marie. You can excuse me now. Bring a glass of whiskey," I said. Marie did not waste time and walked away.

After a few minutes, she came back with a glass of whiskey, which I took and started sipping on it. Nelly and Dave were running late, but I'm very sure that Dave is going to bring her here because his love for money was greater than anything.

Just as I thought, I heard footsteps approaching the sitting area. I didn't even turn to see who it was because I knew it was them.

"Max, I brought your wife back." I lifted my head when I heard David's voice. I took a sip of the whiskey, my eyes on them. Nelly's eyes were red because of crying so much. She looked pale and scared like a little lamb.

"Thank you, Uncle Dave, for bringing my new servant. I was really running out of a new maid," I said coolly. Nelly's eyes widened like they were going to explode out of their socket. I just love each and every expression on her face, the pain, the anguish. It was so entertaining to watch.

"You're back early."

"You can join us here. We're having so much fun. Your uncle knows how to pleasure a woman, and the bed is big enough for two men. Come and join us. You might learn something new from him."

These words kept repeating in my ears like terrible music and I can never forget them.

"Dave, you can't do this to me. You can't make me a maid in this house. You just can't!" Nelly sobbed, her body and hands trembling.

I let out a snort, "I can, and I just did! Isn't it, Uncle?" I asked sarcastically. He cleared his throat.

"Of course, you are right. I'm taking my leave," Uncle Dave said, as he started making his way out of the house, leaving me and Nelly.

"I must say, Dave really loves you a lot, doesn't he?" I sneered. I took a sip of whiskey, letting it go down my throat slowly, my eyes on Nelly. "Anyway, go to Maria, she will show you your new clothes, room, and all the things you need. She will also give you your new task."

Nelly lowered her chin to her chest, more tears welling out of her eyes. "Max, please don't do this to me. I know what I did to you was wrong. Please forgive me. We will get divorced soon, just let me be with Dave. I really love him a lot. I'm even expecting his child. Please, Max, I know you are not a bad person. Please do this for me," Nelly begged. I can't understand her nerve. She is even pregnant again with Dave's baby, and she wants me to forgive her.

"I think today you should clean the basement. It is so dirty. If I were you, I wouldn't have wasted my time crying over here when I have so much work to do," I said coolly. I got up from the couch, glass of whiskey in hand, and walked past her, leaving her sobbing as I made my way upstairs. This is just the beginning. I'm going to make sure she regrets her decision.
