Chapter 42

Max's POV

After Priscilla left, I went to the bar and poured myself a glass of whiskey. I took slow sips, contemplating my next move. I had made a firm decision to seek revenge on Nelly and Dave for the humiliation they caused me. I wanted to make their lives so miserable that they would deeply regret their existence. Reflecting on my past, I realized that being good never paid off. Despite my previous bad behavior, living with my grandma only brought me betrayal and heartbreak. Now, their countdown begins. I will start by ensuring that Priscilla's unborn babies are no longer a concern. Then, I will strip Dave of everything he owns, and Nelly will experience a living hell she will regret ever encountering me.

A smirk played on my lips as I imagined the pain that I was going to cause Nelly. I knew how to hurt her very well. She shouldn't have cheated on me. I was ready to forgive her, but why did she have to give me false hope about the pregnancy? And fool me into giving away my mother's house. How dare she? They are not going to get away with this, and that is my final decision. Nelly is going to feel exactly how I felt when I found her with my uncle on the bed, riding him. It took me time to plan my attacks, but it paid off. Now, I am not angry, nor am I holding any anger in me. All I am feeling is nothing but vengeance, which is something I am definitely going to get.

I turned when I heard footsteps coming inside the bar. I thought it was Priscilla, but as I turned, I saw Liz walking in. She sat in front of me on a bar stool.

"Max, have you completely lost it? How could you ask Priscilla to abort the babies when she is three months pregnant as a surrogate mother? Do you want her to die or never have children again?" Liz asked. I could feel anger in her tone, but she was good at controlling her temper.

"I don't care if she dies or not. All I know is that I don't care about those babies. Who knows if they belong to me or Dave?" I asked her, taking a sip of whiskey from my glass.

"Max, you should have thought about all this before dragging Priscilla into your affairs. This is all your fault and your lack of thinking. You can't punish Priscilla for it. The only choice you have is to wait until she gives birth and then do a DNA test to see if it is your child or not. Right now, you have no proof whether it is your child or Uncle Dave's," Liz said, trying hard to hold her anger.

"Liz, I don't care anymore, whether it is my child or Dave's. I don't care. Priscilla has no choice but to abort the baby, and if she dies, then we will bury her at the end of the story. Right now, please just leave me alone. I need to think," I told her. That was the truth. I don't care anymore. All I want is revenge, and that's the end of the story.

"You've completely lost it, Max. You want to live your old life, don't you? You want to be a heartless monster again, just like your father, right?" Liz asked. I could feel my face starting to heat, my veins twisting. I threw the glass I was holding on the floor, with a loud splash of whiskey and the shattering of the glass. Liz jumped from the chair, tears filling her eyes. I hated to see her cry, but right now, she was provoking me by mentioning my father. I was not like him at all. I was far better.

"This is exactly how he was. You've turned into him once again," Liz said between her tears and sobs.

"Don't compare me to him. I'm nothing like him!" I yelled, rising from the bar stool.

"You are acting like him. You want to be like him. Don't deny it," Liz yelled. My muscles started quivering, and before I could stop myself, I found myself slapping her across the face, making her stumble and fall.

"Max!!!!" I quickly turned my eyes to the entrance when I heard a familiar voice yelling my name. It was none other than Priscilla. Her face was red with anger.

"How dare you, Max? How dare you raise your hand on a woman, not just any woman, but your own sister? What is wrong with you? Have you lost it or have you been smoking weed that made you lose your senses?" Priscilla yelled angrily. She walked to Liz and helped her get up.

"Stay out of my business. Don't try to act like my mother or wife because you are neither of them nor are you even my friend. Don't try to raise your voice at me because you are living in my house. Soon, after you have an abortion, you are leaving. ," I said coldly. It took me three whole months to build this wall around me, and I was not going to let anyone break it so easily.

"You have no right to slap her. I'm going to slap you too," Priscilla said. Before I could even think, I felt a strong fist connecting with my cheek. I stumbled, but luckily, I didn't fall. Fuck this girl. Despite having such a big belly, she was still able to punch so painfully.

"I dare you to punch me back! Just try it, and I will have you spending the night behind bars. You know how crazy I can get," Priscilla challenged, looking straight into my eyes without even blinking.

"Are you blackmailing me?" I asked, glaring at her. My body was tense.

"I'm not blackmailing you. I'm just warning you. You can't come here and vent your anger on us. Liz and I didn't cheat on you. The woman who cheated on you is having fun with her new boyfriend. Go to her and vent this anger of yours to her, not here. Trust me, if you dare raise your hand on Liz again, I will show you the worst side of me. I won't think twice before sending you six feet underground for using your power to bully the weak. Trust me, I'm not scared of killing a fart bully like you. Jerk!" Priscilla said. Her eyes were burning with anger. She held Liz's hand and left the bar with her.

I just can't believe what happened here. Priscilla punched me and threatened me all at once in my own house, and I couldn't do anything. I had nothing against her. All I wanted was for her to abort the babies and leave my house, but I think it was going to be harder than I thought. But still, I won't stop trying.

I walked to the bar table, grabbed a jug of whiskey, and gulped it all down. I can't even control my emotions right now.

Priscilla's POV

I opened my eyes when I heard someone calling out to me. I sat on the bed, rubbing my eyes. I saw Liz standing in front of my bed, already dressed for work.

"Priscilla, you are running late. I kept you awake all night. Because of me, you overslept and now you're running late for work. I'm sorry," Liz said, her tone filled with remorse.

"I wasn't going to work today anyway. I need to see a doctor. I'm not feeling well today. My body is aching, my feet are swollen, and even my back hurts. I'm just not feeling well," I said. I couldn't even get out of bed.

Liz walked to the bed and sat at the edge of it. "I will take you to the hospital," Liz said softly.

"No, don't worry about me. Just go to work. I will go to the hospital on my own. Don't worry about me," I weakly told her. I was not feeling well at all.

"Have you lost it? How can I even go to work when you look this sick and pale? Stay here. I will prepare a bath for you. By the time you take a bath, I will bring your breakfast, okay?" Liz asked sweetly. I sighed.

"Do I have a choice?" I asked her jokingly.

"Of course, you don't have a choice. Stay here. I will be right back," Liz said and disappeared into the bathroom. I rested my head on the headboard. My back was aching a lot.

Liz returned after a few minutes and assisted me in getting out of bed. Following that, I took a bath and Liz insisted that I eat my breakfast. Once I finished eating, Liz and I left my room and made our way downstairs. In the dining room, we discovered Max and Lurry enjoying their breakfast together. Max was attired in a black suit and a white shirt with two unbuttoned buttons. His disheveled black hair added to his attractive appearance. I'm not sure why my heart skipped a beat upon seeing him, but I swiftly dismissed the thought.

"Good morning, Larry. And you, Max," I said weakly. Liz did not bother to spare Max a glance. Unexpectedly, I wasn't mad at Max. I understood what he was going through, but I didn't like how he was handling the situation. I understand that he was hurt and confused about whether the babies were his or Dave's. I totally understand, but I won't tolerate his rude behavior toward people who have done nothing to hurt him.

Max lifted his head, and our eyes met, but he quickly darted away without saying anything, totally ignoring me. Not that I care.

"Hey Priscilla, you don't look well today. What happened?" Lurry asked.

"Don't worry about me, Lurry. I'm going to see the doctor, and I will be fine," I said. "Let's go, Liz."

Both Liz and I walked out and left the house in her car, heading to the hospital.

"Liz, you shouldn't dismiss your brother like that. I know that you must be hurt and angry at him, but you must also understand what he is going through. Just put yourself in his shoes. The woman he loved cheated on him, and he's not even sure if I'm pregnant with his babies or his uncle's. He's just hurt. Just give him some time," I told her. Liz turned and looked at me briefly before turning her attention back to the road.

"It's not that I don't comprehend what he is going through. I understand him completely, but I just don't like the way he is dealing with things. I wish he could do things better," Liz said, her eyes on the road.

"I think Max is dealing with this better than how I would have handled it. Nelly and your uncle deserve to be avenged for what they did. They cheated on Max and deceived him with these babies, and no one knows if they are Max's or your uncle's. Max was happy thinking that these babies were his. He was even ready to forgive them, but they betrayed him once again! How do you expect him to handle all this? Just give him some time to process his feelings and calm down," I explained to her. What Nelly and Dave did to Max was just not fair. I fully support him if he wants to teach them a lesson.

"I guess you're right," Liz scratched her cheek, confusion evident on her face. "So, will you abort the pregnancy as Max had said?"

"I'm not having an abortion. My intuitions are telling me that Max is the father. I can't allow him to make a rushed decision, and I also can't risk my own life because of his foolishness," I said. I hope and pray that my intuitions aren't lying to me this time. I wish Max would be the father.

"Wise decision. Just know that I will constantly support you whenever you need me," Liz declared, and I beamed. She was indeed likable.

Max's POV

I arrived at the main mansion, and the driver parked the car. He opened the door for me, and I made my way inside. When I entered the dining room, I found Dave and Nelly having breakfast in silence. I couldn't help but think that Nelly's infidelity had ruined everything. I had loved her and wanted to make her happy, but she had chosen to betray me and become my enemy. It was a mistake she shouldn't have made. Now, the countdown for my revenge begins.

"Wow, aren't you two the happiest couple in the world, having a peaceful breakfast just after taking away my peace of mind," I said sarcastically, ensuring that my voice carried no emotion.

Both Nelly and Dave turned and looked at me; it was clear as the sky that they were shocked to see me after everything that had happened.

"I thought you had committed suicide after I took your wife away from you, along with this house as a bonus, but it seems like I was wrong," Dave asked with a downturned mouth. I scoffed at his words; did he think I was that weak?

"I did not come here for your games. I came here specifically to invite you to a board meeting that I had called for today. As you know, my mom handed you over her business because I took over my father's business. But I think I've changed my mind; I want to run both companies. I've already called for a board meeting," I said. As I saw how pale their faces were, a feeling of lightness emerged in my chest. Dave nervously laughed, but he stopped when he noticed the seriousness in my demeanor. Perhaps he thought I had come all the way here just to make jokes.

"Are you being serious right now?" Nelly asked. I didn't know where she had such audacity to ask me such a rotten question after everything she had done to me.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" I snapped at her, trying hard to make sure I was not losing control over my emotions.

"Max, you can't do that to me. I'm your uncle, and you want to take everything away from me like I'm just a stranger!" Dave exclaimed.

"Oh, so now you finally remembered that you are my uncle? Unfortunately, my uncle died the day I saw him having sex with my supposed wife. I don't know this man in front of me, but of course, I'm not that heartless. I can still spare you, under one condition," I said. Dave looked at me, curiosity on his face.

"What is the condition?" he quickly asked.

"What do you choose between your wealth and Nelly?" I asked sarcastically.

"What sort of nonsense is this, Max? How can you ask him such a dumb question? Of course, he is going to choose me," Nelly said, her tone filled with anger, and I loved it.

"Oh, is it true, dear uncle?" I asked. Dave narrowed his eyes. I knew his answer, but I just wanted Nelly to know that Dave didn't care about her and made her realize the mistake she had made before I started to make her pay for it. This was going to be more fun than I thought. Revenge was indeed sweeter than chocolate itself, and this was just the beginning.
