Chapter 37

Priscilla's POV

"I don't understand why Max doesn't trust me. How could he believe them without any proof?" I complained to Liz, feeling my temperature rising with every passing second. Although I typically don't care about what others think about me, it hurts that Max doubts me.

"Forget about Max for now, tell me how you pulled this off. How did you beat Aunt in her own game?" Liz asked, pulling up a chair for me in the garden.

"It was a stroke of luck today, or else I would be in jail right now. I have no idea who placed that bag there to trap me, but I was fortunate enough to find it when I finished changing in the closet," I explained. I couldn't believe they would go to such lengths just to get me out of the house.

"You need to be careful because my aunt is very dangerous. She is cunning like a fox and will stop at nothing to get you out of here. This is not over," Liz warned me, a worried expression on her face.

"I don't care about those two. If they want to go to hell, they can do so. I won't live in fear when I haven't done anything to them," I said firmly. "I need to go out for some fresh air. I've been cooped up in the house for too long."

"Where do you want to go?" Liz asked, her eyes lighting up.

"Somewhere fun. I don't have a specific place in mind," I said, not wanting to be in the same place as Max.

"I know exactly where to take you. We'll go shopping first, then to the club to have some fun. What do you think?" Liz suggested, clapping her hands together.

"Sounds perfect! I've always wanted to go to a club but couldn't. I'm so excited," I exclaimed.

"Great, but Max won't let you go out," Liz reminded me.

"Don't worry about that. He won't even know we left. Just follow me," Liz reassured me.

"Okay, let's do it," I agreed, and we headed back into the house.

Author's POV

"Inspector, I drop all charges against Nelly. Don't arrest her," Aunt Suzie said, feeling her pulse racing as her chin lowered to her chest. She couldn't believe that she had lost this battle to that low-life girl.

"Uncuff her!" The inspector commanded, and the two officers immediately released Nelly from her restraints, leaving the room shortly after.

"I can't believe you would stoop so low just to get to Priscilla. Consider this a warning: stay away from her. This is the last time I'll say this," warned Max, shaking his head in disbelief at his aunt's behavior.

"What do you mean, Max? I wasn't doing anything wrong. I was just looking for my missing bag. I don't understand what you're trying to accuse me of," Aunt Suzie protested, refusing to admit to her deceitful behavior.

Max could hardly believe the excuses his aunt was making, and with a shake of his head, he left the room.

"I'm sorry, Nelly. I don't know what happened, but I won't let that girl get away with this," said Aunt Suzie, pulling Nelly into a comforting embrace as she cried.

"But Auntie, Priscilla is no fool, she's too clever for us to outsmart, and we won't be able to get her out of this house. Max won't even want to be with me again," Nelly lamented, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Don't worry. Just wait and see. That girl will pay for fooling me. I promise you that," Aunt Suzie said, her eyes blazing with anger and her face turning red with rage. She knew that not everyone could be lucky all the time, and Priscilla's time would soon come.

Max's POV.

After leaving Nelly's room, I headed straight to my own. I knew she must be angry with me. I shouldn't have accused her of something she knew nothing about.

Closing the door to my room, I walked over to the balcony where my laptop was. Pulling up a chair and sitting down, I decided to check my emails and do some office work. I also needed to think about how I could apologize to Priscilla. I was certain she was seething in her own room.

The day seemed to be passing by quickly, as time slipped away while I continued to bury myself in my laptop. I have been missing a lot of work at the office lately. I had burdened Nicolas with a lot of tasks, and I hoped he wasn't overworking himself.

Suddenly, my phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. I lifted my head and grabbed the phone from the table, answering the call without checking the caller ID.

"Good afternoon, sir. I have found the man you were looking for," said Morrison, my hitman.

"Eliminate him and send a clear warning to the one who sent him. Ensure that this doesn't happen again," I instructed over the phone.

"Sir, I also spotted the woman you asked me to keep an eye on. She is at the club, dancing, and drinking. Isn't she pregnant?" Marroson asked.

"Marrison! What are you talking about? What time is it now?" I questioned, desperately trying to convince myself that he had mistaken someone else for Priscilla. I was confident that she was in her room all along, fast asleep.

"Sir, it's currently 10 p.m., and I'm certain it's the right person. She looks stunning, and all the men at the club are going crazy for her," Morrison replied. My muscles began to tremble. A burning sensation surged through my chest. How did Priscilla manage to leave the house? I thought she had gone to her room and was peacefully sleeping. Damn, I must have been a fool.

"Send me the address immediately," I demanded, and then hung up the phone. I walked out of the room, determined to find out what was happening.

Priscilla's POV

The club buzzed with activity as people danced and socialized. The music reverberated through the speakers, pulsating and vibrating the floor. The lights flashed in perfect sync with the beat, creating an energetic and vibrant atmosphere. The air was filled with a mix of perspiration, perfume, and alcohol. Trendy outfits adorned the crowd, with some flaunting flashy sequins while others opted for sleek black attire. The dance floor resembled a chaotic sea of bodies, moving and grooving to the rhythm. The DJ effortlessly mixed tracks behind the decks, keeping the crowd hyped. The bar teemed with people, their voices competing with the music as they ordered drinks.

I eagerly downed another glass of wine, savoring its delightful taste – something I had never experienced before in my entire life. I desperately wanted to stop, but the urge to keep drinking consumed me.

"Isn't this so much fun?" Liz slurred, clearly as intoxicated as I was.

"It's absolutely amazing! Drinking is just so much fun. I don't want to stop," I confessed, pouring yet another glass and drinking it down.

"Should we hit the dance floor now? What do you think?" Liz proposed. I nodded in agreement, allowing my unsteady head to sway.

"You're right. Let's dance," I replied, slowly rising from the plush leather couch. Unfortunately, I couldn't maintain my balance and ended up tumbling back onto the couch.

"You're completely wasted, Priscilla. My brother is going to be furious!" Liz slurred, triggering laughter from both of us. I couldn't even comprehend why we found it so amusing.

"Everyone is staring at us!" I whispered to Liz, finding myself laughing even harder than before.

"They're probably just single and ready to mingle. Meanwhile, we're looking smoking hot and ready to be caught. Can't blame them," Liz responded. The room seemed to spin, indicating that the wine was taking a stronger hold on me. I couldn't bear it any longer.

"It's time to head home now, or else brother is going to blow his top," Liz slurred, clumsily rummaging through her bag, most likely searching for her phone.

I gulped down another glass of wine. "Liz, you know your brother is a jerk. I wish I could punch him right in his handsome face," I blurted out uncontrollably.

Liz looked at me, pouting as she observed my face. "Priscilla, do you have feelings for my brother?" she asked, causing a wave of warmth to wash over me. Of course not. I'm just hurt by what he did to me. He betrayed me, deceived me. Before I knew it, tears began to stream down my face.

"Priscilla, you can't cry right now!" Liz slurred, although I couldn't see her clearly through my teary eyes.

"Your brother is both bad and good. I can't even bring myself to hate him, but I can't like him either. I once punched your brother hard in the face, not just once, but twice," I managed to express between sobs.

Liz burst into laughter, and I couldn't help but join her. The memory of me hitting him that day brought me immense satisfaction.

"Seriously? You did that to my brother?" Liz asked, her eyes widening as I nodded in confirmation.

"Priscilla!" I quickly turned as I heard a familiar voice, my eyes widening in a mix of shock and fear. He was determined to destroy me today, no matter what. I decided to have one last drink before I met my demise.

I grabbed a bottle of wine and brought it to my lips, gulping it all down. I was done for the day.
