Alice's Visit

"Good morning, Luna."

It was a greeting that first entered her ears. Instantly, she knew that one of her comrades was visiting her. But it wasn't Rio, it was...

"Alice," she called weakly. Her consciousness had not fully recovered. So was the condition of her body which needed time to recover. "Today, you'll be the one accompanying me?" she asked as she rose from her lying position.

"I just came to check on you before they sent me a new task." The angel of death dressed in all black then sat near Luna.

"So you're leaving?" Luna concluded with the lack of working capacity of her brain after a long break. Alice came only to leave. That was what she caught.

"Later. Our work is uncertain. Remember?"

Alice reminded her as if it had been long since Luna had left the above world. In fact, she had only been gone for two days. How could she forget her old life so quickly? After all, she would soon return to the upper world to rejoin them.

"I remember." Luna could only let out a small grunt. "So, what's the news?"

"Several grim reapers have just joined," Alice answered simply.

Luna rolled her eyes lazily. About that, she was no longer surprised. Every day, there was at least one unfamiliar face of the angel of death in the world above. It actually had a positive impact on Alice and her old comrades. Their work would be a little less. Well, that brought another irony to her heart. She was a pity to see the new grim reaper must die by suicide.

And one more. Loss of all memories while still alive. That was their punishment.

"Are you in charge of teaching them?"

Alice shook her head. "Fortunately not. But, I got an assignment to observe your condition in between my duties to collect spirits," she explained.

Oh, she almost forgot. They would assign the grim old reapers to teach the new ones. Usually one to one. That was one teacher for one student. And the order again came from the top in their world.

"Better with me than be their teacher, right?"

Alice glared at her interlocutor. "If I came here just to chat with you, that's fine," she said disapprovingly.

Luna grinned. "Then let's enjoy our meeting. After all, nothing else new has happened to me. Everything is still the same as when I woke up and became a human."

Yes, she also observed her own body. After all, she needed to learn about her new situation as much as possible.

Then Alice's sharp gaze softened and turned into a look of pity.

Luna, who saw it, said, "Don't look at me like that. I've started to accept this situation. So don't make my regrets come back."

"Sorry."

"It's okay, Alice."

And even Alice smiled with guilt and relief after seeing the positive side shown by Luna.

"Looks like your life here will be fine. You live in a marvelous place." Alice commented while looking around.

"Oh, about that-"

Before Luna could finish her sentence, the doorbell rang. And she could immediately guess who did it.

Zach.

Remember, only that man had full access to the apartment she lived in.

"Who?" Alice asked with a furrowed brow. Of course, she felt strange because there was a guest who came to Luna's house. It had only been three days, and that woman already had an acquaintance who was none other than a human? It was hard to believe.

"Zach," Luna answered quickly. She spread the blanket, then she got up from her bed.

"Who is Zach?" Alice also got up, following Luna.

"My helper and the source of my troubles."
