The Source of Comfort

Zach exhaled after making sure the door behind him was closed entirely. Then, he walked deeper into the darkness that surrounded him. However, the dim light was still visible from several large windows that were not covered by curtains.

Yes, this place was the residence he had lived in for the past two years. And as, perhaps, you've guessed, he lived alone here.

Actually, his family also lived in Jakarta. But, he needed a little privacy, so he chose to leave the house. Notes. No expulsion drama!

He put down his bag and then pointed his feet towards the kitchen to get some water. He immediately gulped down its contents before exiting the area. This time, what he was aiming for was his bedroom. He needed to change into something more casual.

So he did what he needed to do. And after making sure he was comfortable, he used the rest of the evening to sit back on his enormous sofa while watching television. He occasionally switched channels, only showing the same program.

Soap operas.

His head snapped up to check the clock on the wall above the big television. Half-past nine. No wonder soap operas still dominated most of the channels. And sadly, he was not a fan of the spectacle. So, turning off the television was the right choice.

He threw his back somewhat hard against the back of the sofa he was sitting on. A heavy sigh escaped his lips. Usually, at this hour, he would take the time to check his work.

Yes, Yes, Yes. The working hours were over. Even the existence of him who was no longer in the office. However, these two things did not affect him much. He had often worked outside the office, which was also outside his working hours. In fact, he could stay out of the office for a few days if his project required him to meet business colleagues out of town.

Yes, this was his life as the CEO. There were no days for him to relax and let go of his workload. Complaining was useless. If there was, his burden was getting heavier.

"Why don't you just go back home?"

He remembered Luna's question when he told her about his daily activities. At first, he didn't understand the correlation between them. But then, the continuation of his sentence made him know.

"Even though there're many annoying things at home, being among the family will ease your tired a bit."

Luna's statement was not wrong, although not entirely true either. As with living alone, this situation could present two feelings of one hundred and eighty-degree opposites. He could be comfortable in his solitude or bored in the endless silence.

But, don't worry. Zach was not entirely self-isolating. He would come home every weekend. When Zach was free, he would stay. And otherwise, he might only visit for a few hours. Most importantly, he had to ensure his mother saw him so she wouldn't fuss over asking him to come home.

Typical of most mothers.

And because of that habit, he had to go home tomorrow. Or it could be Sunday. This also made the night more relaxing. Also, he didn't have an important schedule this weekend. That meant he could relax comfortably tonight.

In reality, this was not the case. Zach felt bored. And to be honest, a feeling of loneliness ran through his heart. And all of that appeared just as Luna's figure disappeared from his sight. It was peculiar, wasn't it?

He wondered. Why could he act like this to Luna? Even though the world knew that they had just met. However, the strange feeling he felt was more potent than the day before. Being separated from her was like taking him away from his source of comfort.

It was indeed weird, right?
