Chapter 9

"What! What did you just say? Am I dreaming?" I exclaimed.

"No. What you just heard is as real as the law of physics," answered Jeff.

"How could this be? I thought both of you went for a drink. I was not even there. How could you volunteer me as a nanny. For God sake! I do not even know who her parents are. Can I remind both of you again that we are here for a short vacation," I basically shouted at both Jeff and Jennifer who are sitting directly in front of me.

"We met this guy, Ed at the bar yesterday and he is a nice and friendly guy but he seemed to be worried about something. Eventually he told us that he had to look for a nanny for his boss at the last minute as the current nanny had to leave," Jennifer started to explain.

"We felt sorry for him. I remembered that you joined an American au pair program in our second year of university and you did a great job with the children. Even now they still text you. Moreover, you are also a citizen of Hong Kong and you are currently jobless. So I couldn't help it but to volunteer you," explained Jennifer sheepishly.

"But still....." I was speechless.

"Ed said he will give you a call later on today to arrange an interview with you. Her boss would like to interview you face to face," said Jeff.

"I could not believe you guys," I said frustratedly.

"Who knows...this could turn out to be a good thing," said Jennifer.

"I do not want to think about this. I just want to enjoy my breakfast for now," I said still angry at both of them.

After breakfast, we start our exploration around Hong Kong city.

"Where should we start?" asked Jeff.

"We are going to the Wong Tai Sin Temple first. I want to pray for peace after what you guys did to me," I said while walking ahead of them.

They just follow me without saying a word.

I had prepared the itinerary a few weeks back. We will exploring all the tourist attractions around our hotel because both Jeff and Jennifer will have to get back to the hotel before 5'o clock in the evening as they have to get ready for the concert which starts at 7'o clock.

Around 5'o clock we went our separate way.

I plan to take a trip down the memory lane. I want to go back to the place where my mother's stall was.

When I reach the location, two blocks of luxury condominium are sitting on it. Even the acting school opposite of the road was redeveloped into a medium sized shopping mall. Everything seems to change.

I take a few pictures on my handphone of the changes. I plan to show it to my mother.

I walk further down the street towards the playground which I often frequented with Louis. Luckily the park is still there but most of the equipment has been changed or refurbished.

I went to take a sit on the swing. It's a different one from the one I used to sit on. The old one must have broken.

Sitting on the swing brings back a lot of memories; most of them were sweet memories. I smile to myself.
