Chapter 15

The room was filled with non-angry people sitting in their seats calmly, at least internally, looking at Melony with curiosity. Melony could feel that this was going to go bad, so she looked at Meruem. As she expected, his face was already dark, Melony's news had made him upset already, but this was about to send him over the edge.

Mel looked at the head of the long table, there was an old man there who actually seemed to be calm. His smile felt artificial to Melony, as if he had something planned for them that no one knew. Meruem broke her out of her thoughts with his rough tone.

"Well? What do you bastards want?"

Most of the people in the room looked irritated at Meruem, but one of them spoke up in a rational tone.

"Code 108, I mean, Meruem, we would like to apologize for yesterday's . . . issue. You must understand though, that it was extremely dangerous to send this young woman out into a field. She could've been killed and that would've be-"

"That would've been terrible because you would've had a lawsuit on your hands?" Meruem broke in.

"I- yes I suppose, but you see, if we let you break the rules like this, then we have to let everyone else break the rules! You understand, yes?"

"What I understand, is you're stopping me from having a second pilot"

"We will give you a second pilot, but it can't be some untrained, unknown, inexperienced pilot!"

"Then train her." He said back.

The others in the room sighed, they were used to his attitude by now. If he didn't like something, then he wanted it changed. It may have sounded simple in theory, but something like this was much harder than expected.

"Are we done here?" He asked

"Not so fast, Code 108." The man at the head of the table finally spoke up, his works sounded powerful. The entire room went silent as everyone stared at him, waiting for the next words to come out of his mouth. Melony found this off, everyone stared at this man in such awe it felt almost . . . cultish.

"Everyone may leave the room." As soon as he spoke everyone immediately left the room. Meruem looked towards Melony, hoping she would stay, and she did.

As soon as the door clicked shut, the only people in the room being her and Meruem, the man spoke once again.

"I don't think I've introduced myself to you yet, Miss Levitan. I can see that Meruem only mentioned me briefly before, do you remember."

Looking through her unorganized memories, she remembered when Meruem mentioned someone calling themselves his father.

Looking at Meruem, she said,

"This is the guy who calls himself your dad?!"

"Yeah, we look so similar don't we." He said sarcastically.

"Not going to lie, I kinda expected someone . . . I don't know . . . stricter?"

"They tried that. Unfortunately, you weren't here to stop what happened to him."

"Oh . . . that's wonderful isn't it."

The man looked at the two with omniscient eyes, seeing deep into their souls.

"Why don't you two take a seat?"
