Winged Creature

Austronesian Empire, Imperial Maharlika, Maynilad, Streets Of Maynilad.

2000, 1, 1st Week, January

The rain was heavily pouring as thunderous roars fills the surroundings. To the sides, silhouettes of what seemed like men in camouflage clothing were kneeling on the ground as if waiting for something.

On the opposite side of the camouflaged men was a hideous creature that was standing tall as a two-storey house. Throughout it's body were scales never seen before on a creature. Which widely baffled the onlookers from the opposite side.

Was this some kind of park or fairytale? Is this a dream? Nevertheless, the men didn't let these thoughts bother them as they are in fact in reality as of currently.

The creature was in a state of slumber, as if unbothered by all the chaos happening around it. Such as the deadly lightnings and deafening thunders echoing around it. To the far side of the scaly creature was a group of people that were huddled together. They were inside a broken house, being utterly silent, to not wake up the scaly creature.

When the camouflaged men finally saw where the group of people were, and so one man immediately headed for the family.

"Go. Go. Go." A man said

The camouflaged man silently dashed towards the group of people that were inside the broken house. He carefully treaded through the broken rubles while simultaneously climbing up and down it. Soon after, the man arrived at the place where the group of people were.

"Shh. I am here to save you. So please be quiet and follow me." The man said.

The man first climbed out of the debris, to which was then followed by the group of people while being helped by the man. The group of people were freezing in cold as the storm rages on. Pools of water were forming all around them. They had to act fast or it will strand them on this location.

So that the people that he rescued won't be lost, the man then hold the first person behind him which was a woman and told her they all need to hold each other so that the others won't be lost, because of the severity of the storm almost partially blocking the surroundings from being properly seen.

They then walked towards the point where they could be safe to say the least, however as if fate forced them to suffer even more. The woman behind the camouflaged man slipped and made a loud thud that echoed through the surroundings, even bypassing the deafening thunders and rain.

This made the scaly creature open it's eyes, and when the woman saw this, she screamed to the top of her lungs, which also alerted the nearby camouflaged men. The man, or the camouflaged man escorting the people, clicked his tongue and shouted.

"Enemy contact! Fire!" the man said.

After the man said that, he then looked back at the people he was escorting and told them to duck. To which after they ducked, a thunderous sound came before them as the camouflaged men used rocket launchers to obliterate the scaly creature.

As if hell descended upon the scaly creature, the rocket launchers battered it as it did a substantial amount of damage. This made the scaly creature furious as it let out a deafening roar that echoed throughout the area, which stunned some of the people that were being escorted.

Unable to move from their location, the man stood up and shouted at the top of his lungs to force the people to move.

"Move! Quick!" the man said.

The stunned people were then forced back into reality as they now dashed towards the area where they could be safe. The man stayed in the back of the group to help those people that were falling behind or is tripping down because of the debris.

Rocket launchers were being quickly reloaded and fired as the scaly creature gets barraged by the rockets. However, there was a small space of time that some weren't being fired, and so the scaly creature took this advantage and gathered blue flame in it's mouth and fired it towards the camouflaged men.

The camouflaged men took notice of this, to which one man shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Duck! It's about to blow!" the man said.

The camouflaged men then swiftly ducked towards the ground behind the cover they were on. However, there were some unfortunate soul who weren't able to duck early and so was melted when the blue flaming ball arrived.

"A- "The man was cut off.

The camouflaged men sustained casualties as they looked behind them and saw that the cover they were on was partially melted and was now a boiling molten lava. This baffled the men and so they removed their back on their cover and prepared to fire again.

The man who was escorting the people arrived just in time to be able to order the people to duck and so they did. When he saw that the men he was commanding sustained casualties, he felt a hard grip on his emotions, but he kept it to himself and ordered them to retreat as they were about to reload their rocket launchers.

After hearing their commanders call, they immediately started preparing to leave. Unfortunately, the scaly creature reopened its mouth and started gathering again the blue flame ball that it had fired earlier.

Seeing the creature gathering the flaming ball again, the man felt hopelessness. Fortunately, when the creature was about to fire the blue flaming ball, a deafening explosion roared behind them as a silhouette of bright light zoomed through the battlefield and struck the insides of the scaly creature from it's mouth.

The engagement resulted in the creature into exploding into different bits of flesh as the blood of the creature rained over the surrounding battlefield.

The man looked behind him and saw the saviours that saved them. It was a hulking battle tank and so he walked up towards the tank. When the gunner saw the man walking towards them, he opened the hatch to which the man from outside shouted.

"Thanks for saving our asses back there!" the man said.
