Erase

I open my eyes to a dark room, looking to my phone makes me startled. It is already 9 pm, I slept all day?! What the heck?! I remember what happen earlier and I anticipate the hurt and pain again,,, but nothing… it is like I have been cured.

I left the room nervously, the house is huge, a two story house with 6 bedrooms. The walls are ivory white, and the furniture is all modern and brand new. The house doesn't have a hint of femininity in them. I cautiously go into the living room. Takeshi and the gray haired Jamaican guy are watching TV.

"Uhmm, Good evening guys", I reluctantly greet them. I don't really know this people, they are either my ally or not. So I proceed with caution.

"You're awake at last, sleepy head, you want some food? Light cooked Lasagna, and it is delicious. I'm Rolando by the way", the gray haired Jamaican talked without a breath sincerely smile to me. His hair is gray but he is not even old, I think he is 16 yrs. old, a tall gangly kid.

"And I'm Takeshi; Light will talk to you in a minute. Matt and Light are in the office, discussing some things", Takeshi I think is the oldest of the four guys, he is buffed! It is like he's always at the gym, working out every day. He is the smallest but still taller than me, and he is 20 or 21 yrs. old.

"I'm not hungry yet, but thank you", I ignored what Takeshi said to me about Light and just focused on the dinner invite. Talking to Light frightened me. I know that whatever Light supposed to tell me will change my life.

They invite me to sit with them. I am shock to see on what they're watching. It is an anime, where two men are kissing. "Huh.... guys, don't be offended, but are you guys, you know.... gays?" I asked them.

"Yeah, we all are, Light assume that you are too, because every Four Child have one thing in common. Is Light correct? Are you gay?" Rolando curiously asked me. Takeshi still watching TV, never looking at me, but I know he is listening.

I admit that guys are attractive to me. But I don't want to label myself, because I like girls too, well it is just Jessica, but it is still the same. So I ignore Rolando's question and they never ask me again. There is an awkward silent, I'm still hesitant to talk with them, and they're still walking on eggshells to me. I'm contemplating to go back in my room when Light and Matt, the brown haired American, enter the living room.

"How's your sleep? Sorry if we took a while. I'm Matt, nice to meet you." Matt said smiling at me. He is the tallest of the four, 6'2 and has an average body.

"Kelvin, can you please follow me in the office" Light is so heartbreakingly beautiful. He is like an angel on earth; he's 6' Ft. and looks like a 19 yrs. old boy. But his eyes have the maturity in them that looks like he experience many things in life that other people don't.

Following Light into the office is a nerve wrecking experience. It is like I'm a lamb going to a slaughter house. "I know you are wondering what happen to you, who Shadow is, and how can you summon fire." He never mentions Jessica, like she never existed, but before I demand, he continues to talk, as if he read my mind.

"I erase all the affection you held to Jessica, the sorrow you feel and the pain; these things can hindrance us to our mission." Light said to me as if it is the right thing to do. This made me see red.

"You don't have the rights to do that! That pain is for me, it is a reminder that I love her, that I deserve the pain of losing someone I love." But the weird thing is, I don't care, I feel the lost but the pain I felt yesterday is gone. It is like Jessica is just an acquaintance of mine.

"It is not love, just affection. Otherwise I can't erase them. I don't want a repeat performance on what happened earlier. Be honest to me, do you still feel the pain?" Light smirk, it is like he knows what I feel now, and that amuses him.

I really want to punch his beautiful face, but I just nod. I know when I'm going to lose in a fight. Heck I punch him earlier and he did not even flinched.

"You are a Fire diwata, one of the Four Children of a human blood. You are human when you are born but you evolved to a diwata simply by emotions. Overwhelming emotions trigger your inner elements inside you. It is pain, sorrow, joy or fear. Every century, the four children born and you are one of them, including Takeshi, Rolando and Matt." He gave me a book, an ancient one with an Apoy in the cover.

"That book explains who you are as a fire diwata. This book comes in handy when a Four Child evolves, it will be your guidelines to be a better Diwata."Light said to me smiling. This is really weird; I know that the normal way of responding to this is to panic. But I am calm, as if what I heard is normal. And Light is just smirking like there is an inside joke that I did not know.

"Four Child? I'm not a kid anymore if I'm not mistaken, and Takeshi is older than the four of us." I asked Light, curious is what I feel right now it doesn't have a hint of panic in me just a calm feeling.

"Four child is just a title for the four of you and age doesn't matter, in our history the youngest Four Child is 10 and the oldest is 40." Light explain to me.

"Who is Shadow?" I asked Light, the pain I feel for Jessica is gone, but the hatred for Shadow is still there. And I want my vengeance for Jessica.

"Shadow is my counterpart, we are never meant to exist anymore, and we are still paying for our sin to Bathala." Light clearly is uncomfortable right now, I know there's a story behind it but it is not my business so I just keep my mouth shut.

"Shadow is known to hunt the Four Child that evolved into Diwata for centuries , killing you guys can bring more power to him, so basically every Four Child that has been defeated, Shadow became more powerful". This explains why he is trying to kill me.

"Shadow also believed about the prophesy, involving the Four Child" Light continues

"What is the----"

"This is not the time the four of you to know about The Prophesy" Light interrupted my question, glaring at me. He clearly regretted the slip of the tongue.

"Are we immortals? If Shadow is hunting every one of us, it means he is centuries old." I don't want to be immortal; I believe that the eternal peace comes from death.

"No you are not; Diwatas only live for 1 century. But I and Shadow are, I am 2000 years old." Shock is an understatement; he looks like a teenager for fudge sake.

"Why are all my things is in here?" I ask remembering that all of it is upstairs.

"You will live here of course; your house is small for us five to live. I prefer my country in Russia but traditionally, the Four Child will train to the land were the last Four child evolve, so we will live in your country, tradition is meant to be followed after all" Light is smiling as if changing plans for my living arrangement without consulting me is fine.

"What! You didn't even ask me if it is okay! What about my job!" I asked to Light, I am beyond mad right now.

"You will not, endanger the life of any innocent human. You will always be hunted by Shadow. And please be calm." And before I throw a fit, calmness overcome my senses. What the heck?

"Don't worry about the money Kelvin we are richer than Bill Gates, just focus on training to be a better Diwata" Light continues

"What happened to the other Four Childs, the ones before us?" I am resolving to ask this, realizing that discussing my living arrangements is futile.

"No one survived, all of them are killed by Shadow, I hope the four of you survive and kill him." Light said it with conviction to me.

Well that's how you end a conversation, awkward silence surrounds us.

"So can we start your training now? Or do you want to eat first? I'm not lifting my chair here but I cooked mean delicious Lasagna". Light escort me out of his office.

And on this night, my life change.
