Chapter 71: Date

Logan and I were back in the truck and heading home. I had a few questions and concerns I wanted to bring up to Logan but I was unsure of how to go about it. I looked at Logan, then to the window, then to Logan again just trying to think of some charismatic way to talk about everything coursing through my brain.

He was tapping his thumb against the steering wheel to a song playing on the radio. My eyes went to him again and he said, without even looking over, "Ask already". His wish in my command. Well here goes nothing, "Why were all those people submitting to you? I thought Michael was the alpha. And how am I going to pay you back for everything? I don't have any money and I don't have any income either. I don't want you to think I'm taking advantage of you and your brothers. I want to contribute". Once I opened my mouth the words just flew out... I was practically word vomiting out everything. This was embarrassing. So much for being charismatic like I had hoped.

Logan's eyes grew wide and he looked at me briefly then focused his attention back out the window. He said, "First, my brothers and I are a master pack. Yes, Michael is our alpha but other branches of our pack see us all as their leaders. They were showing their respect. Second, I do not think you're taking advantage and neither do my brothers. What we give, we give freely. If you want to feel like you are some how paying me back then that can be arranged. You're payment is simple. Go on this date with me tonight and we are even".

Logan wanted tonight to be a date? A date... a date... I had never been on a date. That sent a thrill though me. I answered back excitedly, "Okay". I focused at the tress outside the window again but this time with a nerdy smile plastered on my face. Easiest pay back ever.
