Chapter 12

Nohea's POV

I watch as Lani comes over to us, grabs my hand and pulls me upstairs into a room. Looking around I can see it's going to be hers and Kayden's. I take a seat at the edge of the bed watching her pace back and forth. Then she stops and turns to me.

"What are you going to do now?"

I stare at her for a moment, unsure how to answer her. I was confused and hurt before, now I'm even more confused and somewhat ashamed of myself.

"I still think I should go back home for a little while."

"Are you serious!? You let him mark and mate you and now plan to leave? How do you think your wolf will do without him near after JUST mating!"

I let out a frustrated breath, Lani is the one person who will be on my side no matter what I decided to do. She was with me when I found Ezra and seen firsthand the pain I felt.

I know leaving him now will weaken both of us but completing the bond was done on impulse. I still can't forget the conversation we had before I went into the forest. I HAVE to get away from him for a bit.

"I know it's wrong, and the consequences, but I need the time and space. I was already planning on going home. Just because our bond is complete doesn't mean I have to be trapped here with him. I am still my own person."

Lani lets out a breath and comes to sit next to me. "Are you sure this is what you need? Space from your mate?"

"I can't just forgive him; I need the time away. I'm sure this is what I need."

She nods at me. "You know I'll support you; I just need you to be sure. We both know he'll fight like hell to keep you here. I can't have you coming to me before you leave and telling me you changed your mind."

"I'm sure. The plans he had with that girlfriend of his…" I shiver in disgust, "How he could have been planning that with someone else. I can't stand by him like nothing is wrong."

"Ok." She gives me a smile. "When do you want to leave?"

"Tomorrow." I answer immediately.

"Ok." Lani pulled out her phone and we started looking for flights. She also sent a quick message to Alakai, our Alpha back home.

I'm really doing this; I'm leaving my mate and going back home.

Ezra's POV

I look at Kayden, he seems a little irritated with me, and I'm not sure why.

"What's up?" I ask after standing in silence for a few minutes.

"I realized something today, after finding my mate."

"What's that Alpha?" I take a seat already knowing this might be a while.

"My mate was willing to reject me after learning my identity, because of you."

"What? ME? Why would she reject you because of me? That makes zero sense." I state. Lani would be crazy to do that.

"Simple, her brother. They're close, and you are his mate."

"And that's official now. We have completed the bond. Do you know what he asked me out there!?"

Kayden sighs, taking the seat across from me. "What did he ask?"

"Said he was leaving and asked if I wanted him to reject me before he left."

His eyes got big after I dropped that piece of information.

"Wait how did he go from wanting to reject you to mating with you?"

I gave him a smirk, "That bit isn't important, but now that we're mated, he can't leave. Our wolves would go crazy!"

Before Kayden can comment we hear our mates coming down the stairs.

I turn just in time to see them get off the last step. Lani goes over to Kayden and whispers something in his ear. I go over to Nohea but before I am within arm's reach, he puts distance between us.

What is going on with him? I hear more footsteps on the stairs, and soon his parents are standing beside him. I watch their eyes glaze over, the obvious sign they're mind linking each other.

I don't know what's going on, but my wolf has started pacing my mind, something bad is about to happen. He knows it and is keeping quiet.

Next thing I know Lani and Kayden are beside Nohea and their parents. Ok… this is starting to feel like an intervention of some kind.

"What's going on?" I finally ask.

"I'm leaving." Nohea states.

I'm shocked for a moment; he still plans on leaving me? After marking and mating each other? He's delusional if he thinks that'll happen.

"NO, you're not!" I try to reach him, but he's surrounded.

Now I understand why they all moved together, it was creating a barrier between me and my mate. They all knew I wouldn't let this happen. I don't understand how they could all be ok with this though.

"Move out of my way, this is between me and Nohea." I state to everyone.

"Watch your tone with me BETA!" Kayden says to me.

Immediately my wolf cowers down, we weren't trying to challenge him. But he's stopping us from getting to our mate.

"Ezra, this is not a discussion. I am leaving tomorrow morning. Tonight, will be your first and last night with me until I get back."

"Wait. You'll stay with me tonight, and want me to let you leave in the morning?"

"We need this." He pushes through the group protecting him from me. "If you don't let this happen, something much worse will happen later on."

I take a deep breath; he just gave me two choices basically. Let him leave and come back when he's ready to. Or keep him here and have something worse happen. But what could be worse? I don't think I want to know.

I let out a sigh of defeat. "Fine."

"Fine?" he questions.

"I'll let you leave tomorrow morning without fighting you." I lean in closer to him so only he can hear me now, "But don't expect much sleep tonight."

I stepped back just in time to see his blush. Before I could enjoy the reaction, I got from him, the clock in the living room chimed.

"Ugh. I forgot that everyone else was at school." Kayden states, grabbing Lani and pulling her close.

"What?" She asks.

"My father set that clock up to chime 2 minutes before the pack house is flooded with all the teenage wolves."

"Oh, so most of your pack is about to swarm the house?" He nods to her. "Lovely."

Nohea lets out a little laugh, and my attention is back on him. I don't want to deal with everyone else right now. If my mate is leaving in the morning I'm spending as much time with him as I can.

I grab Nohea's hand and pull him upstairs and into my room, as the door is being shut, I can hear the front door open. I lock my door before turning to my mate.

"Ready for some fun?" I ask as I stalk towards him.
