Era of Calamity

As Lucian slept his mind drifted subconsciously hearing the words of Adela and Aioleus.

He saw what seemed like a colorful and distorted disc as the colors spun around a seemingly infinite darkness.

It was as if it was in slow motion as he watched the disk around the mass of darkness closing in on itself as it looked more as though the disk was bending around the darkness.

Everything aside from the shrinking and colorful disk was utter and complete darkness, devoid of life, sound, motion it was as if nothing had manifested himself around this area.

Until finally the disk around the darkness had shrun down to the size where it also faded into the nothingness before a massive explosion rung out as Lucian was blasted with a massive array of colors as what seemed to be liquid fire spread itself all around as far as the eye could see.

Lucian could feel the incomprehensible heat as though he had been plunged into a live volcanoes and kept his life and senses.

He immediately began to sweat profusely trying to hold on to the thread of consciousness allowing him to wittness this.

He couldn't understand but there was something holding him here within himself, he wanted to see what would happen next at all cost.

Then suddenly in the center where the rings of light had condensed, a bright light appeared as 4 cloaked figures appeared.

Immediately on their arrival Lucian could see all of the figures turn in his direction as a pressure multitudes greater than the explosion bore down on him.

Lucian could no longer hold out, his eyes snapped open as he woke up in the carriage breathing heavily and drenched in sweat.

This caught the attention of Adela and Aioleus, as they looked at Lucian with questioning gazes.

Seeing their gazes on him Lucian gave a wry smile rubbing his head, "it was just a bad dream I have them from time to time." He spoke brushing it off to them as a normal occurrence.

"Would you like to share what you saw in your dream, I am slightly gifted in the path of divination." Adela spoke the eagerness to hear his dream evident in her eyes.

Hearing this Lucian was hesitant for a moment before he spoke, "There were colorful rings spinning around darkness before it basically shrunk and exploded." He said deciding not to speak about the figures that had appeared before him.

Hearing this Adela's eyes went wide as she looked in Aioleus direction seeing he shared her shocked expression.

Neither of them spoke, they only looked down in obvious contemplation.

After a couple minutes of silence Lucian could no longer take the building tension as the two obviously knew something. "What is it? I thought you had some insights into divination!?" He asked forcefully.

"Calm down, I didn't think this was information you were ready to know but judging as you have witnessed it with your own eyes… I will tell you." Adela spoke before taking a deep breath.

"This is the era of calamity, what you witnessed is a central point in the universe that has swollowed up 50% of the universe in the form of a black hole. By the end of this era the entire universe will be consumed and reborn the only thing that will survive are those that are able to break past the current universes threshold of strength." Adela spoke in a grave tone causing Lucian's heart to beat faster as his mind began racing.

"Does this include the mortal world too? Have you broken past this universe threshold? What even is the peak of power attainable in this universe?" A flood of questions came out of Lucian's mouth as his mind couldn't wrap completely around this.

"I'm afraid I don't have many answers for your questions, I only know what I told you because it was foreseen by one of our ancestors before his life faded, that vision had drained the last of his life force and he died before he could share everything." Adela spoke sadly as her eyes fell to the floor.

A cold breath left Lucian's mouth as his fist clenched, he looked to Althea who had woken up some time ago when the tension in the room was building.

She had a determined look on her face before she closed dyer eyes and crossed her legs in silence.

"We will support you two with everything we have before that time comes, most of us older generations are close to the peak of what we can achieve, I am sorry but we are putting the hopes of our light family in your hands as the youths of this era." Adela spoke her voice sincere and pained.

"How long will it even take us to reach your level?" Lucian asked as he felt the weight on his shoulders increase tenfold. He had his own missions and goals and here he was told that his journey was already plotted to end.
