Ascención
Adela and Aioleus spoke about varying topics as they shot through space like a comet.
About an hour after they had arrived Althea was the first to begin waking. She rubber her eyes and groaned as she sat up as the pain had began to heal and some soreness remained.
"If stuff like this is the future…" Althea said lowly as her thoughts leaked out while she looked over to Lucian who looked bettered and was still unconscious.
Hearing this Adela chuckled while waving her hand and another platter full of the delicious small sandwiches.
"These sandwiches have the same dark owl meat, with a divine herb called the moons heart, do enjoy." Adela spoke causing Althea's eyebrow to raise having never heard of a moons heart.
"What is the moons heart?" Lucian's voice came out of nowhere as he immediately sat up like a man rising from the dead with his nose twitching.
Seeing this Aioleus laughed heartily, "This one seems more beast than boy at times!"
Adela chuckled as she nodded in agreement, "The moons heart is an herb found native to where the dark owls live and also pairs well with them. It can increase one's affinities with nature nd the elements."
Before she had even finished Lucian and Althea had already begun eating like the little beast they were.
The two youths made brief eye contact as they both nodded and pushed their cups towards Adela.
Adela raised an eyebrow and shook her head as she filled the cups of the two with spiritual water.
"What did you two think of your first trial?" Adela asked with a smile on her face. The two only looked at her with dark looks in their eyes both of them had taken their first lives in this lifetime.
"I feel stronger, for some reason I feel like that one battle gave me the battle experience of a thousand." Althea spoke after a moment of thought.
"Same." Lucian said before he grabbbed another small sandwich throwing it into his mouth.
"Well these sandwiches are your reward for completing the trial, your growth could be anywhere between 3x and 10x faster after today. You are both ingesting national treasured after all." Adela said as she pointed at the sandwiches on the table.
Hearing this Althea and Lucian only shrugged their shoulders as they had guessed as much.
They could feel the same intoxication wrapped in an inexplicable clarity, alongside an understanding and connection with the elements they were mastering multiplying at a terrifying rate.
It almost felt as though they were becoming one with the elements but despite the feeling it was extremely clear that they were extremely far from mastering their abilities to the level of oneness.
The two ate while chatting with Aioleus and Adela until they had finished the platter and their eyelids became heavy.
They both laid back and fell asleep almost instantly as the fatigue was still deep from their nigh life and death battle.
The national treasures they ingested despite one being directed at strengthening their souls and the other their affinities, the healing and strengthening they provided to thief bodies was undeniable.
It increased the connection of their mind and body allowing them better use of their body and faster healing while the comprehensions of their elements also seemed to engrave themselves into their bodies.
"Do you think they have the potential to succeed you and my master before the Ascención?" Aioleus asked Adela.
"I'm not sure yet but both of us have reached out peak and according to the harbinger we are not strong enough, let's just hope they can carry the light family into the new era, the other ancient families are also searching for their Ascención successors." Adela said her voice low and burdened.
"I have faith… it's the only way I won't be erased too." Aioleus spoke displaying his faith in the two.
