An Upside down prophecy

The atmosphere changed when everyone saw how the tree bends down and the strongest knights of the team got eaten by the monster instantly. But Kairos and Irosa were standing there as if they didn't have any weight in their body.

"What is going on? Oi, Kairos! What did you just do?" The prince woke up when they got eaten by the monsters, so he assumed that Kairos was the one who killed him. 

"He fell. I've never touched anyone from your team, my prince. They were fighting among themselves.", he replied.

But the masked man witnessed everything but chose to stay quiet. He was witnessing everything in secret by pretending to be asleep.

   Looks like he got quite a sharp ear. Let's see how long he stays quiet.

"Both of them were the best knights in my team, so how do you want me to believe that they died by falling off the tree? Are you making fun of me?"

"Does our prince have a loose mouth? Why are you spouting nonsense? I've never killed a human in my whole life.", Kairos replied.

"Are you insulting the royal now? How dare you insult me! I am the prince of this kingdom! If I say that you are the murderer, then you become the murderer!!" 

    Did he get a screw loose due to hunger? Well, his real nature is going to be revealed sooner or later. I just have to wait and watch.

"I refuse to follow you as my ruler. What are you going to do now?" Kairos asked and the question made him more furious. So he answered, "If you want to live, come down at once and beg for your life. Licking my shoe probably save you from being a slave for the rest of your life." But things got funnier for Kairos. He started to laugh out loud by showing his two long fangs inside his mouth which made all of them scared. Then, they finally understood the fact that they weren't human.

"You want me to beg, kid? Do you even know what kind of situation you are in?" Kairos asked. But all of them stayed quiet after seeing his true nature.

"Just, what are you?", the prince asked.

"Me? I am the grim reaper of the heroes. I am the slave of the six-horn devil, Lucifer." Kairos replied.

The moment he introduced him as the reaper of the heroes, the masked man threw a sword at the prince's head and it pierced out of the other side like butter. One by one, all the adventurers and knights were killed by him and drove all the monsters away by using ice magic in an instant. "So, you knew about the heroes.", the masked man asked.

"That's some nice hettrick you got there. Are you an assassin?" Kairos asked.

"Probably. There's no problem if you come down now, right?"

"No, those mere bugs were just a swarm of ants anyway. I was having fun actually." He jumped from a 30 feet tall tree without any hesitation and landed on the ground without moving a single grind of sand. 

"You're more than an assassin I assume. Which clan are you from?"

"I'm not from any clan or anything. Tell me, masked man, what do you know about the heroes?" Kairos asked. 

"I will have to check something before I tell you. Do you know the word Otyebis?"

"Eh? Did I offend you somehow?", but a second later, he understands it all. He was so sure that the heroes are also from his motherland.

"You don't know?" The masked man questioned.

"Hah! Yes, I know what Otyebis means. It means f… off. It's a language from my world. The heroes are probably from my world as well." Kairos was really excited to see the heroes rather than killing them.

"So, you are also from the other world." 

Suddenly, the man kneeled in front of them and said, "I greet the real hero from the other world. I am Stevan Fransis, the former commander of this kingdom who was kicked out by the one and only man I trusted my whole life. Hero Kairos, the holy prophecy has come true by your arrival. Please, kill the evil who wore the mask of the heroes."

Kairos was genuinely shocked to see him kneeling and speaking nonsense. 

"Ahem.. please get up. I am not used to this kind of treatment. But what kind of prophecy are you talking about?" Kairos asked.

"The upside-down prophecy." He replied.

About 100 years ago in the Astalav Kingdom, the holy saintess received a prophecy from the god of light. The prophecy said, the demon kings and queen will rise to this holy land and they will consume everything. Wealth, people, land, food, and even the royal family will face the downfall for the demon lords.

Then, "The Hero" will be summoned to kill them and the kingdom will return to its original state.

But the prophecy was a hundred years old so nobody cared about it. One day, the forest of the north suddenly became overpopulated with monsters that the food supply suddenly got cut off. So, the king thought the prophecy had finally come true. He summoned the heroes by using the summoning stone left by the saintess and 3 people came from the other world at a time. 

The masked man explained everything about the plot holes of the prophecy and came to the conclusion that the three of them are real demon lords, and the demon is the real hero.

"I would kill the heroes anyway even if the whole world opposes it. And thank you for the information. I own you one." Kairos replied while he was grilling the bird meat he hunted from the dungeon.

"Well then, if you really own me, then join my party. I can do everything to help you kill them."

"Join a party…I don't know, but since you helped me this much, I can't turn down your offer."

"Then, welcome to the party Kairos and Irosa. I will be in your care from now on."

"Don't mention it," Kairos replied. 

   Anyway, I didn't sense any lies from him anyway. He's only a level 71 commander with 55-level assassin skills. He can't cover his lies even if he wants to. Let's see what awaits in our future. We have a long way to go…
