ch 54- Mistakes 6

Rabon Fooz's POV-

"Nobody until now has done such a thing. Now that I think about it one man did... What was his name?.... I don't remember his name but he did choose the armor in the end. But he sympathized deeply with the sword and wanted it to be with someone too. " He paused to take a breath. But he didn't continue after the pause. I had to intervene so that he would continue. This story may be vital for the upcoming trial.

"Then what Mr. Gaurdian? " I insisted he continues his story. He remained silent for some time contemplating if he should tell me Or not but he decided to tell me in the end.

"After finishing the trial he vowed to the sword that someday a descendant of his would come and take you out. Nobody till now has been able to complete that vow in the thousands of years that came by. But surprisingly the last one who came before you had tried to get the sword, but in the end, it was a futile attempt. He was a promising young man too, far superior to everyone who came before bit even though he was only able to take ten steps towards the sword before he collapsed. " He told me the story.

I knew the man he was talking about but I chose to remain silent. I had to focus on the task ahead of me. But I still didn't get one thing, was I going to fight against armor and a sword? That's weird? Or maybe.....

"Are the spirits of the king and the female warriors also fighting in the trial? " I asked to hope to be proved wrong. I was hoping that the armor and swords were individual spirits and not a part of the people they were associated with.

"I think you are still not getting it. This book is a medium. Medium to form a contract with one of the two sides. If you choose light you contract the spirit of female warriors and if you choose dark you get contracted with the king. These are just the add-ons and symbols of what they represent. In the trial, you have to fight against both of their spirits. " He explained.

I started sweating when I heard those words. How was I able to fight against them. Are you mad you old man? I will just die. And wait a minute if by some godly miracle I do win against both of them what will I get?

"We have chatted too much. What's your decision? " He asked me.

"Before that can you tell me what pri-" I was cut in between by the voice.

"Ok. The trial will commence now. " He said in an irritated voice.

I was not ready as I had many questions to ask him but he was not happy with me asking so many questions. In a blink of an eye, I was transported to a different place. A large grassy field with a blue sky. Whichever side I looked there was just grassy plain till the horizon. It was beautiful and terrifying at the same time. But then something caught my eyes. From distance, I could see a small dot coming towards me at a steady pace. Slowly it came close to me and what I saw was a woman riding a horse in shiny silver armor with her headgear on. Her lush black hair flowed with the wind. It was a beautiful sight but I knew inside that this was not the time to admire it. If she was here that meant he was coming too. And he was the one I was more afraid of.

The scene on the opposite side changed as a huge cloud of dust made its way toward us. The ground began rumbling and soon the thing making the sound came into view. A chariot pulled by seven horses came towards me at full speed. I fell to the ground by just looking at the thing coming toward me. I had made the bad decision, I should have just chosen the armor and gotten it over with but it was too late now.

Both the king and the lady were coming towards me from both my flanks. I was pincered in between them. There was no way out. This was the moment when I was going to perish.

"Run towards the tree. " A voice came from nowhere.

"Who? " I asked as the voice did not belong to the Guardian.

"If you want to live, Run" The dominating voice made me stand up and run toward the tree that appeared out of nowhere. The distance between the tree and me was approximately 100 meters but at the pace, they both were coming with, they would catch me before I covered half the distance.

Regardless of the outcome, I ran towards the tree at my full speed. The sounds behind me came closer and closer. Then suddenly I felt that I would die when I turned around to see a sword inches away from my back. This was it. My final moment.

*CLANG*

But to my surprise, the sword was stopped. The lady stopped the attack with her shield and looked at me.

"Run. I won't let him harm you. " My ears couldn't believe what they heard.
