WHAT LIES BEYOND

Jayden's POV

"Hey, come here." Billy, the academy's bully called for me to come over to his side. Let me tell you a little bit about me. My name is Jayden Oluwafemi Calisto and I am eighteen years old. According to my grandmother, my mother said my father is a citizen of USA. Anyways, I was raised by my grandmother who died two years ago. My mother abandoned me right after she gave birth to me. I don't know who my father is but according to what she told my grandmother, my father is a nobody and she thought he is wealthy that is why she had an affair with him. After my grandmother's death, I lost my purpose in life which brought me here. By here, I mean the magical world.

"Still training? I mean, you are not special like us and you cannot have special powers like we do. You are a nobody and you should stay like that. Go back to where you belong." Billy said to me.

"I will really like to go back to where I belong but guess what? I don't know how to so you might as well deal with the fact that I am here and will be here forever." I said back to him.

"Oh!!!! The ordinary being's got some mouth to talk back to me now." Billy announced to everyone on the training ground.

"I didn't talk back to you, I only stated the obvious." I said back to him.

"You are just a dummy, less wonder why you never fit into that world of yours." Billy said and everyone laughed. I am tired of being this guy word punching bag.

"At least, I am dummy and don't fit in, I can make my way in this world with my brilliancy and handsome face but you? The only thing you've got is powers that you haven't been able to establish yet. So who is the better one now?" I said and I think that really hit a nerve because the expression on his face changed.

"Like mother, like son. I was less surprised when I heard your mother is a prostitute. She had you for a man she barely knows and left him because he had no money and now, she is a wealthy man and more acceptable children. Who would want someone like you in their life?" Billy said and everyone exclaimed. I felt like my whole world shattered when he made that statement. Unable to bare it, I launched at him and trust me, that is the worst mistake anyone could possibly make. I beat him but he finished me up. This dude is literally three times of myself and I was protecting my handsome face so I couldn't do lot but before he could shed the light out of me, Master interfered.

"Stop what you are doing now." Master's assistant yelled. Both Billy and I were separated. He had few bruises and I had the major one but my face is okay, thanks for asking.

"What happened here?" Master asked. Before I could talk, Billy responded.

"I called Jay for a friendly talk and he came at me for no reason. I couldn't sit back and just watch him beat the daylight out of me." Billy said not making known the whole reason and just giving half of the incidence to Master.

"Is that true Jayden?" Master asked and I just stared down. There is no point in defending myself, everyone already said yes in defence of Billy.

"Follow me now." Master said with anger laced in his voice. I am going to the room of pain. The nickname was given to the punishment room by trainees. It is dumb right? We got to the room and Master paced for a while like he was trying to make a decision on what to do with me.

"Billy lied." I said trying to make sense out of what is about to happen to me.

"Lied about what? Whatever you say here can't be valid. If you were going to defend yourself, you should have done it when I asked you a question. Is that how I taught you? To look down when you are asked to defend yourself? Why did you get into a fight with him in the first place?" Master asked me and trust me, the anger laced in his voice is on a whole other level.

"He said shits about my mother and I just couldn't sit back and listen to him talk." I said in my defence.

"Oh save me that excuse, you and I know that is not the reason." Master said like he read me. I felt like my mind is an opened palm to him. Yeah, he is right. I care less about my mother to get into a fight with an idiot. I love my body more than I despise my mother.

"Why is all this happening to me? Why me? What have I done to deserve this? I don't fit in anywhere. My grandmother was my confidant and only true friend and she chose death over me. My mother abandoned me right after my birth, I don't even know who my father is, my relatives hate me, my friends betrayed me and when I came here by mistake, I thought I could finally fit in with people that are weird like myself but that is not the case because they are special being and I am nothing close to special. I just don't fit in anywhere. Why am I alive to begin with?" I said at the brim of tears. Yeah, that's the reason why I launched at Billy. I poured out all my frustration at him.

"Come here, come and sit with me." Master said after sighing. I hesitated at first but then I started to approach him. As I approached Master, I saw a shining green stuff with him.

"What is that?" I asked finally taking a sit beside him.

"This is an orb created by the first Overlord passed down from generations." He informed me.

"I thought all orbs were crystal clear, at least that's what I have seen in movies." I said with a smile on my face.

"It is a green orb because it contains the power of time but there is another one that is more intriguing than this." Master said and he stood up to open a magical door. I don't know the technique he used to open it as he was really fast.

"Woah!!!! What are these?" I asked Master.

"These are powerful artifacts of past ruler's but this is not what I want to show you, follow me." Master said and I followed him. We got to another door and he opened it the same way he opened the first one.

"How come this orb has different colours?" I asked him. The orbs were the first thing that caught my eye as we entered. Not only does it have different colour, it shines brightly than the others did.

"That orb was created by the last Overlord, the most powerful Leader that ever lived. She was so powerful that her birth messed with time. There is no record of the time of her birth because she came into this world the point time stopped. When time stops, everything and every life stops with it but her case was different and that was what changed her fate. She paid the price of messing with time. She challenged fate. She was just like you, an ordinary being who found her way here like you did. She is you great grandaunt." Master said to me.

"What? My great grandaunt? No, my grandmother had an habit of talking about her family and from what I have heard from her, her mother who is my great grandmother is an only child so from where do I get this mysterious great grandaunt?" I asked him. The old one probably doesn't know what he is saying. I had a great grandaunt and she lived in the 21st century? That's totally impossible.

"Yes you are correct, just like you, when she left the world of your kind, her existence has been erased automatically. Before you ask, yes yours has been erased too." Master said before I could ask. I chuckled.

"So, one of my family was here and she was the Overlord and not just a leader but the most powerful that ever lived in history?" I asked to be sure again.

"Yes." Master answered me.

"Wow! She must have been the coolest ever." I said in awe.

"I don't know about being cool. Anyways, fate is repeating itself. The mistake she made then changed your fate and that is why you are here. You are not here by mistake, fate brought you here and for you not to make mistakes like she did, why not read her Journal." Master said to me.

"Her journal? That will be less boring for a powerful person like her." I said.

"I don't know about that because no one has ever read the book aside her but I think she wrote the book for you. Take and read it. Don't only enjoy it, learn from it because another Armageddon is about to befall the universe again and you will be the one to save or doom it." Master said to me and it really felt creepy. I don't want to save the people that rejected me you know but that is human nature. We have losers and winners and now, I am winning because the fate of the world is right here on my palm.

"I will leave you to read, consider it your punishment." Master said and left. I opened the book to read and trust me, the beginning is beautiful. Thought this story is about me? Nay, this story is about my ancestor, the cool and powerful one. Don't worry, my story will come up right after hers so for now, let's dive right into the story of my ancestor.
