Chapter 4

𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗔'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

My eyes locked with principal Mylar for a minute. I had to wait for her to speak first before knowing what next to do or say. It was the same for her as she gazed at me with her brows arched all the way up.

"I don't think you came all the way here to stare at me like a clown. So say what you want without beating around the bush as I have a lot going on." Mylar spat!

"Can I please come in?" I said feigning a shaky voice.

"I was in the middle of something....Erm, how long have you been standing here, I mean at the door?" She asked.

"I just got here. I only need a minute, I came to talk to you as I don't know who else I can talk to." Her eyes dilated after I said that. She stepped out of the way giving me enough room to walk into her office. I saw her peep left then right before she closed the doors maybe she thought someone was following me.

The moment she shut the door, I threw myself at her, genuinely breaking down, crying tears of fear. I was scared because I didn't know Hunter's whereabouts. I cried because I found out that Hunter was my mate in the most horrible way, wondering if him being my mate was the reason he had left the party. I cried because Mylar was plotting something to keep my mate away from me. My fated mate!!

"Ania is everything okay?" She asked while stroking my hair.

"No I am not okay. I miss my home, I miss my people, I miss Hunter who I had become so fond of, why is it that everytime I come close to people something must happen to them?" I spoke in between breaths, my heart was overwhelmed with emotions, finally understanding why I always wanted to be close to Hunter it was the mates bond. Mylar allowed me to weep my heart out until I calmed down before she said, "I don't think Hunter is ever coming back, from what I know about males out there, he could have chosen his own mate then eloped with her." She lied staring straight in my face without batting an eyelid. My heartbeat was picking up very fast out of rage. I wanted to call her out of her own lie but patience was a virtue if I wanted to see my mate and be with him.

"It's okay principal Mylar, I have to go to class now sorry for bothering you and interrupting your busy schedule." I told her. Her face was indecipherable, so expressionless, for a minute I thought she had no emotions in her.

"Anything else Ania!" She coughed out.

"No that would be all for now ma'am. " I said and slowly walked out of her office lifting my ears up. Her sighing was so loud that I tugged my ear. She thought I didn't know anything which was a great start but that wouldn't be long though. I had to take the bull by it's horns.

I did not concentrate in class for the rest of the day. I needed to know who I could trust and what next to take. Mylar was going to be onto me monitoring all my moves, I had to play and act smart.

Immediately the bell rang, I walked into my room in the hostel, packed up all my stuff and left. I flagged down a cab giving him the pack house address. I tried mind linking Hunter but it sounded like a broken radio, after a few attempts I stopped trying and started doing my homework through the ride. I had decided to keep my enemies closer. Give them fire for fire no retreat! no surrender! no cooing. I was an alpha's daughter, weakness was not in our genes.

Mylar was doing yoga in the garden when the cab came to a stop in the middle of the compound. I saw her sniff the air before looking at my direction disgust washing over her face before she smiled but my insticts already registered the initial expression. I was being apprehensive. I had to be apprehensive. I was always going to be apprehensive until Hunter came back unmated.

"Ania what a pleasant surprise." Mylar chirped taking my suitcase from me pretending to be friendly. I was having none of it.

"Are you sure it's pleasant?" I asked her and she nodded. "Yes it is, why wouldn't I be delighted that you are here?" She asked me back. "Maybe because the pack house is already full and you don't want to add one more person to it. You know it means you have to take care of one more person. It's too much considering the alpha isn't here to help you out." I said stepping up to her. We were so close that I could feel her warmth breath caressing my skin.

"Ha ha ha very funny of you Ania to be aware of all that and still pack your things to come and add another baggage when Alpha is not here to help out." She stated. I took another step closer to her, gritted my teeth, smacked my lips then told her. "That is why I am here Mylar, I figured that you needed a helping hand to better help you run the pack house I am an Alpha's daughter. I know how to run things, I will leave as soon as Hunter is back." I told Mylar. We had an eye battle that seemed like it was taking an eternity.

I was an alpha's daughter. The alpha blood ran in my veins, I wasn't going to allow Mylar intimidate that gene. I belonged to the pack too, it was time to show her who I was truly made of.

I saw Mylar shift her gaze to the ground before she took a step closer to me, closing any remaining gap left between us, we seemed intimate, she then said,

"I got it covered Ania, I don't need your help. You can stay here for the weekend it could be lonely staying alone but on Monday you have to go back to the hostel." She said stroking my cheeks with the back of her hand.

"That will depend." I hissed!

"On what?" She hissed back.

"On whether the Alpha will be back. The sooner he comes back, the sooner I will get out of here." I said. I broke the gap between us and started walking towards the house. "The suitcase should be taken to Alpha's room!" I shouted back at her .

"Why would I do that?" Mylar called out.

"I have a few reasons why ." I halted on my tracks gave her a minute to catch up with me then said, "First, I am an Alpha's daughter, secondly, I know that you are aware who I am to Hunter. And this pack houses are always designed in a way to accommodate everyone with their mate. I will wait for him in his room." I said and that is when hell broke loose! Mylar blew up!

"You might be his fated mate but that doesn't mean that he has accepted you as one. I am not a wolf but I am aware that anyone can reject their fated mates at any given time and choose another one for themselves. So unless Hunter stands here announcing you has his mate, You hold no ground to any of your proclamations!" She made a very serious point and all I could do at that time was to scoff.

I walked into the pack house everyone starring at me like an alien. Mylar must have some how badmouthed me, the only reason why they couldn't do anything about it was that the pack house was a public space for anyone to be. I took the stairs ignoring the feeling of water building in the pit of my stomach.

"I am happy to see you Ania." Joe's voice rung in me through the mind link. I swarmed my eyes and met him as he disappeared behind the gym door.

" What happened to Hunter?" I asked him as I continued going up the stairs. "Let's meet at the streams at night we talk Ania." Joe told me. I closed my mind link and went to Hunter's room, it was under lock and key. Mylar giggled some where in the vacuum and I knew she wanted to play vampire games.

"ANIA!" A cold breeze brushed against my skin. I stayed focused vampires thrived in fear and blood. I wasn't about to give her any of that. I was so ready for her mind games. "No rest for you tonight." The echoing voice slammed on me again as I tried Hunter's door pretending not to hear her ghostly advances.

"ANIA! It's going to be a cold night." She whispered again and I clicked my tongue. "Well because I can't sleep in Hunter's room, I can as well sleep in our Principals room since its going to be a cold night." I said as calmly as I could.

"Ha ha ha !" Mylar was lurking in the shadows. "You can sleep where you want, it won't stop vampires from hunting tonight. I have never sucked on a wolf's blood before there is no harm in trying." She appeared before me before she vanished thrilling me.

I pulled my bags to her room, she was standing by the bed. "Can I start with dinner?" I asked her when I had put my suitcase in the closet. Mylar's fangs slipped out she was furious, she wasn't going to have her way, not atleast this night.

"You can kill me later Mylar, here you will be the only suspect, it's your room remember." I smiled. I could hear her steady heartbeat, she was a vampire, they were masters in camouflaging their emotions it was a pity Mylar was slipping in and out of calmness, how I enjoyed every bit of it. She smiled then said, "Let us try and work together and bring Hunter home to a peaceful pack house that he left." She said and I couldn't agree more.

The kitchen was buzzing with activities when I went there after cleaning up. The cooks were up and down making food for everyone. Those that were not helping them out were busy talking to themselves as they collectively brought the aroma of a nice meal raising through the air.

Every one was avoiding me, no one wanted me to help them, they were discriminating against me, it could be because of one or two things, either I was a wolf who had been terribly badmouthed or Mylar wanted Hunter to mate her sister so desperately that she had filled-in her fellow vampires who were supporting her thereby hating me.

It hit me at that moment that I was only being tolerated by them because Mylar had asked them to, the only reason that made sense was that she was still unsure if Hunter would accept her sister, if not, when Hunter returned back and got information that something bad had happened to me, it would be really messy.

My survival there solely depended on me being Hunter's mate, and the fact that he had not rejected me. If it ever crossed my mind that Hunter might reject me, I would be running in the woods with vampires running after me. They were at the top of the food chain, nothing was hell like having a vampire for an enemy, they do not kill with haste, they can torment you to a point of begging for death but it wouldn't come .

"Hey you....she -wolf." A vampire said patting my back. "Are you just going to stand there doing nothing? Why don't you go and scrub the bathrooms." He continued. The kitchen was filled with buzzing murmurings. "That's right..... That's where you belong in the bathroom wolf." Another chimed.

"Tsk,tsk, tsk. That is not how to treat our guest." Mylar said as she appeared seated on the kitchen counter. "You all cook, let our guest rest for tonight before we allocate her chores tomorrow." Mylar told them glaring at them one by one.

I left the kitchen after forcing a smile, the vampires really had something coming to me. I was prepared for them.

The stream was running quietly,Joe was flipping through the waters making back flips. " You can join me if you want." His cool voice rung through the air, if I wasn't being mistaken, he was outrightly flirting with me.

" Thanks but no thanks Joe. Why am I here?" I asked making sure my aura was being strongly felt. "Where is Hunter? Do you know his whereabouts?"

"Yeah he went off to marry, he said that when the time came and you start asking after him, I should let you know that he rejected you as his mate and that he went away to get his own mate." Joe lied to me, I smiled in the darkness as I heard how he tried to control his heart beat. "Thank you for the information Joe, I got to go." I told him feeling betrayed. Joe was a pure breed wolf, him taking the vampires side, was very disheartening.

I walked back to the pack house trying to fight-off the feeling that something or someone was watching over me. The figure was lurking in the darkness, the wind becoming stronger and stronger.

"Fucking vampires." I whispered as I continued pushing through the winds. They were out to hunt that night as Mylar said. They knew how to manipulate wind, earth, light, sounds, in fact every element of the earth making them the strongest and on top of the 'food chain.'

"This way Ania ." A still voice whispered to me it was the second time I was hearing that voice unsure of where it was coming from, but the voice never misled me.

"Quick hide inside the cave we will leave in the morning when the vampires are done hunting. I am only worried for Joe." The gentle voice in my mind spoke.

Who was that speaking in my mind. Oh my goodness! Joe was out there in the night and vampires were hunting for blood.
