Questioning her innocence

All the cousins gathered on the lunch table and talked about important matters too. "We have to send our spies after Jesse White or we need to file an interrogation against the White family." Foster spoke, after the search he could not find concrete proof but there were few papers which seemed relatively off. Perhaps if they could send these papers to the council they could evaluate the meaning.

All the cousins were born and bred under the care of their families so they have lesser interaction with legal or Town matters. Solving this case with just shuffling around the houses won't work; they have to act mature without bringing their families into serious trouble. This was a serious matter how someone could such a brave to kill Lord of the Dusk Lake and his wife.

"No need, I will handle it from now on." Jax solemnly spoke. Everything changed his ways, his tone and behavior. Now he only looked like someone who was given death punishment for a small crime, his cousins could only console. "If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact us." Foster and others patted on his shoulders and left the Alastair mansion.

The servants came to clean the lunch table; from the look they could see that none of them ate their fill and the new master was looking at a picture. Jax was looking at the picture which he found in the Jesse's mansion. The girl in the picture was slightly smiling as it was her signature smile but he hated her now.

He suddenly stood up and spoke to his housekeeper, "Bring that slave here." The housekeeper immediately understood which of the slave his master was referring. Jax took, picture from the jesse's mansion as a clue against her innocence. Lala Clementine was fetching water as it was her duty today, lower half of her clothes got wet while she has no other pair of dress to wear. Her legs were shivering because of cold and the wet clothes. "Master called your presence." the housekeeper told her in dry tone.

Lala looked at herself, her disheveled condition was pitiful in the first place, and she hurriedly used her hand to settle her hair then dusted her clothes which actually don't need dusting but drying. She didn't want to look devastated in front of Jax, her first and last love. Jax was in the living room, he gestured other servants to leave and glared the girl. Lala ignored his glaring and smiled, there was sliver of hope in her heart that perhaps Jax was willing to believe her innocence. She understood his condition that what he had been through right after the death of his parents.

As soon as the servants left, Jax stepped ahead and threw a picture at her face, "If you are really innocent then how your picture reached to the Jesse's mansion? What relation you have with him? How long have you been betraying me? Do you still dare to deny?" he almost yelled at her. His voice resonated in the Calum mansion which brought another wave of fear and threat for all the servants.

The picture fell at her feet and she picked it. It was none other than her own picture Lala Clementine; she remembered this picture was taken four years ago and her younger sister took it for the album. She moved her head denying, "I don't know who is Jesse and how my picture reached there; believe me Jax I was never behind anything which could bring any pain to my love." she stepped ahead to touch his face but he shook her hand away.

"Lala, I will never forgive you. You will remain slave and meet your death by the council. I will make sure to collect as many proofs against you." He gritted his teeth. "Get out of my eyes. You only deserve my hate."

Lala lowered her head and went back. She could understand what kind of pain Jax was suffering. There was hope that after some time he would be able to distinguish between right and wrong, between good and evil, between truths and false. She was willing to wait till the day comes. There was another reason why Lala was willing to wait; she wanted to know about the evil shadows that kept following her everywhere.

It was more important to know now that all the things were going against her, there was someone behind it. But who would be this cruel to kill the elders of Jax just to harm her future, her wedding with Jax. She reached to her abode and sat. The servants of the mansion clearly heard what master shouted with anger, now they were gossiping about the girl. Few have taken her as the worst girl who offended master Jax or among those who harmed his parents in anyway.

Half of them got a worst opinion against her while other servants have sympathy for the girl. The girl who brought hot soup for her out of sympathy was among those who took her as innocent. The girl took her part of food and went toward the slave's abode. She saw the girl sitting in and crying silently. "Ahem, may I come." she knocked on the open flank.

Lala hurriedly wiped her tears and spoke, "Yes you may come." she was indebted to this girl. "You should not have come here." she spoke worried. "You should not worry, the master never punishes if servants meets the slaves." she spoke smiling. "I come to meet my fiancé here so this way I can bring something for you too. May I ask you something?" she asked hesitating.

"You can ask away." Initially Lala wanted to distance from everyone in this mansion but to seek help she has to talk her heart with someone. "From you appearance you seemed to bear a good background then why master is blaming you for something the other servants are gossiping?" the girl sat and asked. Lala heard and lowered her head, "It's because he is not ready to trust his love but false evidence and I can understand why." she tried to smile but broke in tears instead.

"I can feel your pain being someone in love and mistrusted." the girl patted her back. "Can you do a favor?" Lala asked sobbing. "Ask anything." the girl spoke. "Please inform me if master Jax decide to visit somewhere away from the mansion. I wanted to confirm something by visiting my house in his absence, if I asked his permission, his suspicion would depend." Lala pleaded.
