"The ceiling is unfamiliar"

He woke up, his hands looking pale, his left hand bruised especially. Looked around, and he spotted a familiar face, The woman he saved earlier.

"How long was I asleep"

"EVERYONE HE'S UP"

The woman yelled at the top of her lungs, resulting in the room getting full with people.

"How long was I asleep?"

"oh you slept for 3 months, Mister...?"

"It's Veil" He responded. "And you?"

"It's Kar. Thank you for saving me back there". Kar was well built for a woman. Her proportions were lovely, her clothes blessing her curves and damn, those scars at her left eye. She looked like a mercenary from those medieval games. Aside her, there were around 10 people at the room. All of them were well built and scarred. For some reason, Veil is able to see some orange aura being released around them. They were simple townsfolk. And for some reason children swarmed into the room and Jumped on the man:

"Brother mommy said you ran so fast"

"you took the monster out with a single punch without magic"

Veil was visibly confused.

"Leave me alone for a few please, let me clean myself up", he weakly muttered.

"Meet us at the lobby after cleaning up. Food's there, Mr. Veil", Said Kar, and everybody left the room. Kar was the last one to leave.

It was hell of an entry from my side, gotta admit. "blue lightning bolt struck a human and monster corpse and they fused" (For some reason Kar looked at me with fear and admiration at the same time while telling this). This world is sure to be fun. But not gonna lie, that monster was a hell of an opponent. Kar seemed lovely. But I had almost negligible energy left so, dragged myself, cleaned up and headed down. The place seemed like an office. "Are you awake sir?" asked the pleasant lady at the desk. "Yes, but I'm quite hungry. And please tell me where am I."

"Go down the hall for canteen. And welcome to the adventurer city of Ord and please come back here after dinner for some formalities."

She sure is lively.

There was an unexpected surprise waiting for me. There was Kar in her (extremely revealing) casual wear and a middle aged man having dinner. "Mr. Veil, over here!"

She invited me over. The steak was lovely and seems like I'm dragged into a conversation here. "I'm Daniel, leader of the adventurer guild. I formally thank you for saving us from the monster siege. Everybody give him a hand!" and people around me proceeded to cheer me and all hell broke loose(it was a party).

"What are your skills, huh? How YOU are possible, huh? WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH MANA?"

"Wish I knew Daniel. You're drunk, Chill." , Daniel was a hopeless drunk. "Sorry about him, but he made a point. How do you have so much mana? " "What is mana?" , Kar dropped her beer mug upon the question. Her pretty face showed a lovely mix of fear and confusion and started punchimg my arms softly. "And what's this orange aura around everybody?"

Kar sighed and explained ," First, mana is the , uhm, like the fuel required to cast magic. The orange aura is the reaction between natural and human mana. stronger the color, stronger the mana. Illusory mages will piss their pants on your site. So, what you will do now?"

"Eat and sleep, maybe". I moved away from Kar upon saying this. The woman was visibly fuming and I feigned ignorance, which was fun. 

"What will yo do?" What will I do? honestly it's a pain knowing all this and able to control none of my magics properly. I headed back to the helpdesk. The woman was writing something and upon the sight of me, she rose and put up a warm smile. "Good evening Mr. Veil. Can we start the formalities?"

"What are they?"

"This is the National Adventurer Guild. You might have seen Daniel, our Guildmaster. Seems like you have an idea on what we do."

"I do"

"All right. So place your hand in the square plate here and try not to think anything"

"Okay and its done!"

"And?"

"Looks like you got Class A mana. no wonder your aura was strong."

"Uhm? "

"alright. Sir, here's your device. It serves as a personal device, an identity card and a proof that you're an A class adventurer. You can find quests on the device and you will be paid by the guild directly. ask me if any questions persist."

"Can I get a teacher for magic?"

"I'll see to that. for now, enjoy the rest of the day."

It was weird. I headed back and slept for another three days.
