Chapter 11 - Shopping Spree (Part 2)

The girl gave a bright smile before responding. "I would recommend either a longsword, shortsword, or a dagger. The number of sword styles that can be used by longswords and shortswords are too many to count, but both can pretty much be used by anyone. A dagger can be used by anyone who is quick and cunning, or by anyone who is strong in hand to hand combat." She explained.

"What is the difference between longswords and shortswords, besides the longswords being longer?" Stray asked, having his curiosity peaked at how widely used they seemed to be.

"Fighting styles used by longswords are usually less aggressive than styles using shortswords. If you buy a Beginner Swordsman Set, you get a bunch of stuff. One longsword, one shortsword, one dagger, one greatsword, one katana, three Sword Style guide books, one storage ring that can hold up to 100Ibs, and a self repairing training dummy. It's worth over 2,000 platinum coins, but our store sells it at 5,000 gold coins for customers on their first visit only!" The girl answered, having to take several deep breaths after speaking so much.

Stray checked his Inventory to see how much gold coins he had left, and felt some hesitation at having to spend so much. He still had over 7,500 gold coins left, but he still wanted to shop at other places. 'System, do you think I should get the Beginner Swordsman Set?'

{Host is recommended to buy it, you will save 75% of the money required to purchase the set at regular price, and can easily earn back money through various means}

Mentally nodding to it in his mind, Stray offered a handshake towards the girl. "I'll take the Beginner Swordsman Set please, my name's Stray." The girl nodded and returned the handshake. "Nice to meet you, I'm Naivara Virahel. Thank you for your purchase, please follow me so we can finalize your purchase." Stray nodded, and followed her to a private booth where he had to fill out various forms along with some contracts. They mostly stated that the shop is not responsible for whatever injury or death that is even remotely related to items purchased from the store.

After he was done, Naivara left the room for a few minutes before coming back and giving him an enchanted blue ring with several runes engraved on the inside. "Simply put the ring on, and it'll permanently identify you as the owner. Everything you have purchased is already inside, simply think of the ring while wearing it, and you can can operate the storage space inside." She explained, and Stray tried it out.

Putting on the pointer finger on his right hand, Stray sensed several weapons, books, and a training dummy that floated in a void like space. Excited, he thanked Naivara after paying for everything and leaving the store.

Looking around, he saw there were three more shops to visit left, but there was only about three or four hours left until the sun went down. Deciding to only spend an hour in each shop, Stray continued his shopping spree. The next shop he entered was a pet shop. It was slightly smaller than the weapon shop, but most of the space was taken up by cages and labeled pet food.

Stray mostly saw only various kinds of cats and dogs, but more animals were shown the farther he went. Birds, lizards, magical mannequins, baby horses, baby unicorns, stone golems, baby dragons, giant wolves, giant spiders, floating weapons, baby hippogriffs, baby griffons, baby Hydra, baby tigers, baby dinosaurs, baby chimera, and he even saw a chest with teeth inside a cage.

Every time he saw one thing that he thought was amazing, he saw something else that was even more amazing. An elderly human man wearing a stained apron came up to him and chuckled at his reactions. "Welcome to Barry's Pet Bonanza. All our pets are personally trained from birth by me, so it's safe to pet any of the pets you see here. If the pet you are interested in isn't here, then you can talk to me, and I'll see what I can do."

Stray's eyes went wide and nodded furiously before moving towards the animals that only existed in fairytales in his past life. Sticking his hand in the cage of a baby unicorn, it nuzzled his hand before letting him stroke it's rainbow mane. The hair of a unicorn felt like a heavenly bliss, and Stray couldn't imagine what it'd feel like to sleep on it. It took all of his willpower to move away towards one of the cages that had a baby dragon. The dragon was brass colored, and it ran towards him the second he came to the cage. It sat down and waited with it's small metallic tail moving side to side while he watched it. Stray couldn't hold back as he snickered at how it reminded him of a puppy, and reached in to pet it's head.

Although the dragon's scales were hard, they were very smooth and warm to the touch. While petting the dragon, Stray thought up a really dangerous idea. Moving from the baby dragon's cage, he walked around before finding his target. In the massive cage was a white spider with blue fur on its legs, that was the size of a car. Taking a deep breath to gather his courage, Stray stuck his hand in the cage and gently stroked on of it's furry legs. The giant spider was actually very calm and collected, closing all of its eyes while Stray petted it.

Despite looking dangerous and scary, he couldn't help but think of it as a very big cat. An eight legged cat with fangs and multiple sets of eyes, but still a nice cat.

After that, something awoke within Stray, and he proceeded with the goal to pet ever single kind of pet in the shop. It took two hours, but Stray felt like he'd accomplished a mighty quest.

I haven't decided on what kind of pet Stay will have yet.

Writing this chapter made me want my own pet giant spider. Imagine arriving at Walmart on Black Friday while riding a giant spider. Maybe then parents wouldn't push me down to grab the newest kids toys. \_(-_-)_/
