Doctor Stephen Strange x Nurse!Crush!Reader

You slipped your cell phone between your shoulder and ear, pinning it there as you chatted with Christine. "I'm so sorry that I'm calling you in on your day off, but Nadia called out sick and I need another ER nurse. Strange is acting well like an ass but also sort of I don't know..." She heaved a heavy sigh. "Its fine Christine..." Unlocking your car you opened the door and tossed your bag into the passenger seat. "Strange is always an ass." Christine chuckled tiredly. You dropped into your seat and waited for a few moments, "Why is Strange there anyway? I thought he was this big wizard, sorcerer, grand high priest or something?" Christine laughed outright, "He's consulting helping with case." You nodded your head despite her not being able to see you. "Right, then. I shall prepare to see his royal pain soon. Bye." Christine chuckled and hung up. You chucked your phone onto the seat beside you before sliding your seatbelt on. Turning the ignition, the radio clicked on and you turn the sound down, reversing out of your driveway.

Stopping at red light you waited patiently, despite the rush you were in. Once the light turned green, you drove forwards, missing the car racing towards you. Your car spun around and was pushed into a lamp post. Your passenger side door was caved in, the door to the seat behind you had, thankfully taken the burnt of the crash. Blood tricked down your forehead, you could hear a phone ringing in the distance or maybe it was just your ears. There was shouting too. Your eyes kept fluttering shut, you knew that you couldn't let that happen, but your best efforts were in vain and you fell unconscious.

Christine checked her phone, you hadn't shown up yet. She shook her head, knowing you wouldn't answer your phone while driving, not after what had happened to Stephen. The doors of the ER crashed open, and Christine turned before faltering along with the rest of the hospital staff when they recognised the person on the stretcher. "What....what....what happened?" Christine managed to choke out. The EMT who was a friend of yours, sniffed before saying through watery eyes. "Car crash. T-boned before being shoved into a lamppost." Christine nodded, before shaking her head and getting into gear, the rest of the hospital promptly followed her lead.

Strange hadn't found out yet and was looking around looking around for either you or Christine he had heard that you were working today having overheard Christine asking you to cover another nurses shift. He turned towards the OR's in time to see Christine leave one, following a patient. The patient disappeared in the opposite direction to Stephen. Christine sniffed and wiped at her eyes, Stephen rushed down the hall, "Christine, what's going on?" He cradled her in one hand and brushed away her tears with the other. She choked on a sob, "Y/N." Stephen's heart stuttered, staggering backwards releasing Christine. "Is she...?" He couldn't finish his sentence, Christine choked on her sob, "No, no, no." She waved her hands about, "She's fine. I'm just..." Stephen pulled Christine towards him as she propelled herself into his chest. "It's all my fault, I asked her to come in, and...and..." Stephen shushed her, he managed to convince her it wasn't her fault.

You hadn't woken up from the anaesthetic yet, Stephen hadn't left your side throughout the night. Christine was about to go home, Wong had arrived at Stephen's request, she paused in the doorway. "I will call you when she wakes." Stephen repeated for the tenth time. Christine shook her head, her hand on the doorway, she looked down and over her shoulder. "She loves you, you should tell her you feel the same." She looked up at Stephen, she tilted her head, "I know you feel the same." Stephen gave a faint smile, Wong appeared at the door and Christine followed him out.

Stephen looked at you, he brushed his fingers along the scope of your forehead before trailing down your cheek. "You have everyone so worried. You can't leave us." He tilted his head, "You can't leave me." He dropped his head; his hand was now holding your own. There was a sound of a heavy pained inhale, "Always so arrogant." His head shot up, your eyes fluttered open as you turned your head on the pillow. Stephen shot to his feet, the chair toppling over in his rush. He hovered over you, tears pricking his eyes, he sniffed. Your lips trembled into a smile. "I love you, Stephen. I fell in love with you somewhere along the line of our friendship." Stephen cupped your face with one hand, managed to hold his weight on the bed with the other, he leaned down and kissed your forehead, his eyes fluttered shut. "I love you, too. Y/N, I don't know when I fell in love with you, but I am so in love with you." He whispered against your skin, you smiled. Stephen righted his chair before sitting down keeping a tight grip on your hand. "You should rest, so I can take you on a date when you're well. I'll be here when you wake up." He leaned forwards and drew your hand towards him, kissing the back of it. You smiled, eyes watery. "Thanks Stephen." You paused as his fingers danced along your cheek that wasn't pressed into the pillow, lips turning up as they traced their path. You sighed lightly, a happy hum radiating. "You should call Christine let her know I woke up and that you confessed, otherwise she'll never speak to you again." Stephen leaned forwards and kissed your forehead, "You confessed first." Your grinned widened as you slipped back into oblivion.
