Chapter 47 : A Life Debt Paid
Raven’s POV
I can count on one hand the number of times I have been truly afraid in my life.
I can count on one hand when I completely froze during a confrontation where either my life or the life of someone close to me was in danger.
I can count on one hand the number of people who have really earned my trust, respect, and love, and the only one to be able to accomplish this is dying in my arms.
I keep Blair pressed tight to my chest. I feel the warmth of her body seeping through her clothes. She is still breathing. She is still alive.
Still, I don’t know what to do. I know how to take life, not save it.
She’s the one who saves lives. She is the one who saved me.
Now, when it matters most, I can’t return the favor. I can’t save the woman I love.
My entire body is shaking.
All that mattered was that she was right there in front of me in my arms. I cling to her and keep all of my senses focused on her heartbeat.
