Amanda Laetious...

Manda woke up with a start in the early morning and looked at her bed side watch. The time was 5:55 am. Only five minutes before she had to get up and get ready to go to hell, hell being school of course. There was one thing she couldn't stop thinking about; the dream she had just had. The angel had returned, her angel of mercy.

What she would give to have a moment with the boy she had only met once. "I guess I was never meant to have anything good in my life." She said to herself.

You would be surprised to know that she had met this boy five years ago but the memory of him never eluded her. This boy had been of aid during her darkest moments. She had just lost her parents and had no one to turn to for comfort, not even friends.

That was when this boy appeared out of nowhere; spiky hair, fair soft skin and elf ears. Demonic eyes with an electric blue iris and emerald green pupil, a roman face clad with a roman nose and pink baby lips; a true beauty.

He was the one who eased her pain. Since that day when she saw him fly away because yes, he was an angel, he has never been seen again.

He had promised to come back again to see her, but then you know angels, they take forever to return. She turned off the alarm before it could beep.

There was something about this Thursday that she couldn't quite understand. In her years, she had developed a  pessimistic personality due to everything that she had gone through in life, but this unusual Thursday kept urging her to lighten up a little.

She got out if bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. The shower's sprinkler played funny games with her. She wanted to smile, but she had forgotten how to do so. After a relaxing shower, she went back to her bedroom and first opened the curtains and then went to her wardrobe to get an outfit for the day. She went with her favorite black ripped jeans, a black crop top and black leather jacket with her black Nike sneakers.

She oiled her skin and then got dressed. She then sat in front of her dressing table and started brushing her hair. As she was doing so, she saw herself with her handsome angel on her bed. A memory that had taken place five years ago. She sat and watched as they talked recalling every word  of the conversation. This Thursday really was playing tricks on her.

She then covered her face with her long hair, grabbed her back pack and went downstairs. She found the kitchen empty with a note on the counter. She picked it up and it read:

Went to check up on my family. As you know, Mike is unwell. I'm taking him to the doctor. I've left some food in the fridge. If I'm not home by 8:30 pm then don't wait up for me.

Aunt Mauriel.

Her aunt was not much of a nice person. The only reason she was around was because she pledged herself to be her godmother. If it hadn't been for her, Manda would be in foster care right now.

She didn't bother having breakfast, instead, she packed a packet of biscuits and two cans of soda. The time was 7:01 am when she left the house. She started her usual track to school which was kilometers away from her house. It was a 43 minutes walk from 47th avenue and she had to be at school by 7:50 am before the school gates closed.

She walked out of the house and when she was outside the gate, she looked at the  mansion's front view. If her parents were still around, the place wouldn't be so quiet. She felt a pit in her stomach at the thought of this, so she turned away and started walking to school. She used the route that goes through the park and got to school at exactly 7:48 am, before the bell rang.

Then the worst part of the day arrived. As much as she didn't like going to school she was forced to for many reasons, one being the fact that one day she would have to take over her father's company, a super advanced research facility that came with ground breaking inventions and advanced medical aid that is responsible for changing the world as it is.

Her first lesson of the day was Literature. She loved it because it was all about expressing one's emotions through words or art, based on one's abilities. However,Mrs Horner was not in for the lesson, so Manda decided to write some poetry.

THE STRANGE CHANGE...

Phi far foe...

In a land far away

Where the skies had been

Blue and the

Flowers had to bloom...

There lied a strange

Change that craved a

Chance to be free

For a shadow had been

Cast upon him in a

Shallow but no deep hole

Night and day he fought

Like a knight in an

Unending battle for freedom

They say that great anger

Is more destructive than The sword but this time,

Clearly the tables had

Turned

Whenever the darkness would

Creep in, he would creep

Out and pursue the light of

D

ay, but like a bat, the

Day was never meant for him

As the dark one,

All he could do was

Dream of the day when

He would be able to

Roam the skies in the

Light of day...

Seeing that she still had more time, she decided to write another poem:

MY FEELINGS...

Messed up I seriously am...

With my feelings wrapped up around anxiety.

Anxiety, worry and fear, all these I feel.

I always wonder why but usually find no particular reason

I feel the urge to laugh, scream, pull my hair and cry...

My feelings are wrapped up around a web of anxiety.

I feel empty and void as if something is missing.

I know not what to do or who to talk to, in fact, do I even want to talk about it at all?.

I know not what it feels like to be happy, free, young, to choose, to be sad, in fact,I don't even understand any of my feelings...

For my soul is old and has withered through the hands of time...

So much pain I have endured at such a short time...

It has been two decades since the dawn of my life but those decades feel like eternity, like I have been in this life forever...

My feelings are tangled up in a web of fear.

The fear of Love. Never have I ever felt so much fear towards an emotion, one that is about to catch up with me...

My feelings are tangled up in webs that I cannot escape...

I have screamed, hoping to be heard but no one has come to my rescue...

Now, all I do is look at what I should have been flashing before my eyes as I cry out my pain and fear.

My my my!

Since her love for writing usually turned off most of her senses, when she was done with the second poem, she looked up and found the class empty. Darn it! She was Late for her Chemistry class. She stood up and quickly rushed to her locker to get her books. When she got there the corridors were empty. Man, she was in for one hell of a scolding. She  headed for the Chemistry laboratory and on her way she noticed a familiar scent before she got into the lab, freshly picked roses, with a dash of tulips and a waft of chrysanthemums. Before she could place the scent, she opened the door and welcomed the scolding that came from the professor.
