Interview

Sameer was about to ask question when a voice came, "Sameer Mohammad."

"Oh, I have got to go," said Sameer bashfully. He ran to the stage nearly knocking the department student. Six grownups sat there.

"Sit down," said one teacher.

"Well Sameer I want to ask a question," said another woman. "What do you think is the best quality in a man?"

"Courage," replied Sameer nervously.

"Do you think you have that quality?"

Sameer nodded vigorously.

"How?"

"I have the courage to realize my mistakes and admit them."

"Why don't you take French tuitions?" asked a man. "You are terrible in that."

"I can't afford it," answered Sameer his face going red.

"You are good in English," said a woman.

Sameer nodded. "I am fond of literature," he said.

"Are you a Syrian?" asked a woman who introduced herself as Diane Dalson.

Sameer shook his head. "I am a Pakistani," he answered. "Why did you think I am Syrian?"

The woman did not reply. She was staring hard at him.

"Well Sameer, you have admission in Cornwall," said the principal.

WHAT IS THE USE OF THAT WHEN I CAN'T AFFORD IT?

"You are in Caldwell House. You also have full tuition scholarship, said the principal. He gave Sameer an envelope. "This contains the fees, a list of books you will need, a brochure about Cornwall and the rest. Goodbye," he said.

Sameer walked rather dreamily out. He met his parents outside. "Well what?" asked his father eagerly.

"They have given me a 100% tuition scholarship," he replied. His father read the contents of the envelope. He nodded, "Yes, I will be able to send you here."

His mother shook her head. "The fees is too high."

"No way! The tuition fees were way too high but he has got the scholarship in that. The rest can be covered."

"But will he like it?" said his mother. "being with such wealthy children."

"It is the education that matters not whether he likes it or not. You want to go, don't you Sameer?"

Sameer nodded. The food will have to be better in there.

Sameer Mohammad didn't know that he was going to a place, which would change his life.
