Chapter 39: Illegitimate

Different emotions where flowing throw Adam, when Danny mentioned his family nothing but bad memories flowed into him, his cruel past all came back to him, how he felt unwanted by his own family. How he never felt loved not even once, how he was always reminded that he was not a biological child and so on. He didn't even know why he was looking for them but his body just moved on its own, fueled by anger and hate, he never wanted to see them again, he wanted to leave it all behind but a part of him knew that was a lie. He still longed to feel the love and warmth of a family

It was taking far to long for him to reach the east so speeding up Adam zoomed at full speed far off to the edge of the city running through the city he quickly found the hotel and ran through it and searched the record books till he came across the name Yeagers. Running to the seventh floor of the 16 story hotel building he reached room 115, this was it, he took a deep breath and nocked on the door.

I'm coming, a female voice said and his foster mother opened the door, yes can I help you she said not recognizing the person in front of her

mom who is that Derek asked and looked at Adam also not recognizing him

umm excuse me but are you just going to stand there or are you going to talk his foster mother asked again

you really don't recognize me do you, well it's expected, I have changed a lot, anyway it's me, it's Adam

hearing his name they both burst into laughter

Adam, you can't be serious what kind of a joke is this Derek said

Adam died during the chaos on the first day, there's no way a stranger like you can be Adam his foster mom said

during the chaos Kate called you and dad to get home fast, Derek was the one trying to defend the house from robbers while the others where scared and hiding isn't that right?

Derek and his mom suddenly stopped laughing

so you guys told them that I died? really, is that how much you hated me he said as tears slowly rolled down his cheeks

there's no way you can be Adam, that pig didn't even have powers so how can you be Adam Derek said but his mother suddenly hushed him

if you really are Adam then what do you want, whether or not you dead doesn't change anything, you where never wanted from the beginning so why are you here

This was the question Adam had been asking himself on the way here and only one question rose from his mind

why? why did you adopt me if you already had kids, why did you keep my as a foster child when you never wanted me, why?! he yelled

I guess it's pointless hiding it so I'll tell you, it's all your stupid father's fault

your father had the audacity to tell me I didn't show him love anymore and didn't care, that's why he succumbed to sleeping with his secretary, after firing her she black mailed him to take care of you while she went on with her life, my coward of a husband felt guilty for what he did and followed suit and that's how you wretched thing came into our lives she said as hatred and disgust was written all over her face, anyway we don't need you anymore, my husband has us, he doesn't need you or anyone else

yh, you filth of humanity was just after his wealth anyway so get lost

Adam just stood there listening to everything, tears rushing down his face, he couldn't believe it, he was an illegitimate child, a mistake, and his father only took him in because of guilt and black mail

The others where also close by, they where close enough to hear everything, including Sarah, they couldn't believe Adams back story, to hear you where the result of an affair was a hard pill to swallow for anyone, they could only imagine what he was feeling at this point but they didn't need to wait much longer as they slammed the door in Adams face and he fell to the floor. After a few minutes Adam stood up and walked to the stairs to see his friends all waiting there, before he could say anything Romeo hugged him

it's ok, you can finally leave those scumbags behind, we're your family now he said and the water works burst open as Adam hugged him and started crying

it's ok Adam, we'll be your family now

That night they all stayed at the top of the hotel roof just talking about random stuff till Adam was ok then Romeo opened up a little.

I didn't real have a good relationship with my family, my elder brother was the cream of the crop, the best of the best, he was the smartest in his class, the most athletic, he was the best in whatever he did but as for me, I had no interest in all that, they wanted me to follow in my brother or father's footsteps, I wanted to make a name for myself, I loved computers, I was planning on becoming a programmer so I could make games but my dad said it was a stupid dream and would affect the families status, my ideas kept clashing with my parents expectations and slowly I lost my purpose in they're eyes, my parents would look at my like a disappointment, and my brother would look at me with hatred in his eyes, it took a while but slowly I realized, I no longer fit in with my family, I thought I no longer had any attachments to the untile they where killed he said looking into the night sky as sad as ever

Hearing this made Adam calm down a bit, it was nice for his friends to play a makeshift family for him, with them around he felt safe and strong enough to take on the world, with them he felt love, after a while they all went back home to rest for the night, as for Adam the only thing keeping him together was the fact he had a makeshift family that was there for him, so what he if he was an illegitimate child or if he wasn't wanted, so what, he had friends who where there for him and that was enough.
