Ethan; A Story Untold (HxH fanfic)

"A funny thing death is, it comes as it pleases, gives no warning nor cares if you were done with life or not" said he, being as disgruntled as he was helpless. "Really ? I think its sad itself, having to take everything from billions and more. I too, wouldn't want to show my face either, as an existence hated by all." said she, being as gentle as she was kind. And yet, when he lost it all, it was her hands that were stained. "We will meet again" said she. 'Sure, lets meet again in hell' thought he, for he too had sinned. And thus Ethan lost the chance given to us all, he lost his life. But not all was bad, he could start anew. Though having lost all he owned was a hefty price indeed. 'Wills of the world?'

Ethan was stunned, though he didn't knew much about the HunterxHunter world, but something of this scale was quite unexpected. He smiled, it was the one of the reasons why he chose this world. He knew absolutely nothing about it, the residents themselves were oblivious to most part of the world. The Gourment side of the world; uncharted lands beyond the great blues filled with mystic beasts; the dark continent. Comprising of over 70% of the world which had storms to cover their typography from satellites and beasts to guard whatever secrets and treasures these lands bore.

He remembered the frustration he felt when the anime merely showed a small side of the world, he felt as if he was trapped to witness the world through a window, with so much left undisclosed, with so much he wanted to know, but now he had come across a door, now he can lift the veil from those unreachable secrets. His plans for the world started becoming grand and grander as a cute smile was plastered upon the face of the ambitious infant. But then he remembered how frightening this world truly was: Criminals, beasts, curses, nen, chimera ants, all kinds of dangers roamed even in the relatively safer side of the world. His amber eyes gleamed with newfound determination to grow strong.

Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched by a pair of eyes that matched the color of his own, Amelia smiled at the antics of her child as she leaned to pick Ethan from the cradle.

Ethan stared at her face, her eyes that radiated kindness, her nose which was straight as if chiseled, light pink lips which were curled into a faint smile, her hair were like the night sky, opaque but gleaming with patches of sunlight, and her amber eyes that seemed to gleam from a shadow cast from the curtains.

Suddenly her face boated as she puffed her cheeks making an amusing face that was still a little cute, Ethan couldn't help but smile, encouraged by this the lady continued to make more amusing face, each more weirder than the previous, she tickled and nuzzled Ethan as giggles of the pair resounded the room.

Watching the two was yet another pair of eyes, these eyes too were now similar to Ethan but in a different way and for a different reason. These eyes belonged to George.

George was a hunter, a Lost Hunter. Though not much active since his wife became pregnant he hadn't quite quit, a while ago he was asked for a job which was rather dangerous and he was going to say goodbye to his wife but seeing the exchange between the two who were the whole of his family, at least the ones not missing, he had decided against it. After all, he had made a promise to not take any jobs till his child was at an age where he could talk; to spend some time, at least a few years with his family.

But at this time George still didnt knew how fast his promise would be fulfilled.

Ethan had tried to learn more about the 'Will' he perceived and had thought up few theories.

'Nen must be a mixture of life energy and 'will'. And Ethan having experienced a life without the special energy 'Will' was able to distinguish between them.'

So he tried combining them, taking hint from the name 'will' itself he directed it to combine with a part of his body but found unable to do so, he repeatedly tired but to no avail and due to the caution he was showing while using 'will', he felt what was like trying to breath just enough to not get rid of the uneasiness one feels but not suffocate or having both of his index fingers 1mm close to each other but not letting them touch.

As the infant was contemplating with a difficult face, he saw a new face.

"Hoho, is this cute little thing my grandson ?" The old man with grey hairs smiled.

Ethan looked around for his mother but found her absent.

Seeing the worried look on the child's face the old man had a tinge of sadness show in his teal eyes.

"I guess this is my punishment for not being present on all the important occasions" Talked the man to himself with a melancholic tone.

"This wont be the last time we meet." said the man, making a promise to himself with a voice too grave for the matter.

A few seconds later his mom entered and scanned the room.

"Strange, I thought i heard a voice" she said after making sure Ethan was okay "Must have been my imagination"

Ethan wondered why that man had come to visit, what was the reason for his visit, he had thought a few possibilities but knew they were in the end just assumptions, with too much time he went into a spiral of thoughts as he often did, this time the topic was 'The meaning of the word 'will''

'

What is will ?

Is it the meaning for the word 'intention' or the word 'future'

what are 'intentions' ?

Are they desires ? Or rather Instincts ?

Wait... desires and instincts.

Will as in 'What a person wishes to happen'

so what do i need to project my will ?

...

A goal ?

'

Ethan felt as if he had got the answer. He once again concentrated on the 'will' inside him, just faintly and slowly wished that the nail on the thumb would grow, The result was very faint to see but the nail did grow a little. He tried again but this time he didnt 'wished' but 'ordered' and felt a sharp pain in his thumb as the nail grew visibly but with a little tinge of red, he quickly relented and the pain dulled. It still hurt but Ethan was all smiles, he had finally found a way to grow strong faster.
