Chapter 29: Accident

There was a silence as Bharat finished his short speech on Alcohol as both Rahul and Gaurav were a bit surprised that Bharat knew so much about the bad effects of alcohol drinking.

 Gaurav said: "Wow Bharat you do not consume alcohol still you have so much information regarding alcohol consumption."

Rahul also said: "Yes Bharat, how do you know so much about this?"

Bharat said: "I got this information from my teachers in my previous school but that is not important. What is important is that we are students at this point of time and our future will be decided in a few years and if we spoil this valuable time in these things then we will be jeopardizing our future for sure so I would suggest you guys to stop drinking as a friend."

Rahul said: "We never knew that there are so many bad effects of drinking alcohol. I thought that it looked cool if we drank alcohol so occasionally consumed it but after what you told me I will keep my distance from it. Actually some of my senior cousin brothers said that it looks cool and if you consume wine that it is also good for health but I never knew that it was this bad."

Bharat said: "Good that you are ready to leave alcohol before you get addicted otherwise there would be a lot of problems because once you are addicted then no one could save you."

Gaurav said: "But if we do not have alcohol then how we will enjoy ourselves because in this night club we only have hard drinks so we can have only food and no drinks."

Rahul replied to Gaurav and said: "Come on guys do you really think that I am here for nothing, remember I am a regular here and have a lot of influence so let me see if I can arrange something for you guys."

Rahul called the waiter and asked: "Hi, can you arrange some non-alcoholic drinks for us if you have any options then you can tell us."

 The waiter said: "Sir as you already know that in this bar we only serve alcoholic beverages however since you are our esteemed customer for so long we can arrange it for you please tell me your order."

Rahul looked at his friends and asked: "See it was that easy so what you guys would like to order?"

Gaurav said: "One Milk shakes with mango essence please."

Bharat said: "One plain Lassi please."

Rahul said: "One Lassi for me too please that will be all."

The waiter said: "Thank you for the order. I will get back as soon as the order is prepared." With that the waiter went away after noting down the order.

 Rahul, Gaurav and Bharat enjoyed their time and had their fill of delicacies and by the time they were done it was almost 2 am at night and they also had to return to school before the competition ended.

After checking out the time Gaurav said: "Guys it is already 2 am at night. I think we should return now so that we can be there for the award ceremony to collect our medals."

Bharat agreed and said: "Yes I think we should return now since it is already very late."

Rahul said: "Sure Guys I am sure we would like to be there to watch some more games in the sports meet competition as well right so you guys continue to my Red Sedan car I will just come in a few minutes."

Gaurav said: "As you say Rahul. Let's go out Bharat."

Saying that Gaurav took Bharat with him to the car parking just outside the nightclub and were just chatting besides the Red Sedan car of Rahul when all of a sudden they saw a Black Scorpio jeep which was driving rashly and was speeding through the street came and it seemed the driver had lost control as the Scorpio jeep blasted the walkway railing away and crushed a man who was on walking on the way and scraped through the wall and finally stopped.

The man's body was crushed and could not be recognized after seeing the scene both Gaurav and Bharat were traumatized for a moment and just froze on the spot.

Meanwhile the Scorpio took back gear, came out of the walkway and started to escape from the scene when Bharat came out of his reverie and shouted: "Hey you stop!"

However the Scorpio did not stop it went on its way and before Bharat could run towards the Scorpio it just escaped with full speed.

Bharat felt helpless at this point of time since he could not do anything about it to catch the Scorpio nor could he save the man as he just kept on staring at the Scorpio which had escaped his grasp and was turning around a corner on the next street.

Just at that moment Gaurav caught up to him and said: "Let me call the ambulance. It is really sad how this man got crushed. There is no chance of him getting saved, I am going to call."

Due to so much commotion many people from the night club had come outside to see what was going on and Rahul was among them too as he came outside he saw the man just outside the nightclub lying in a pool of blood in the walkway and went to Bharat and Gaurav and asked: "What happened here?"

Gaurav explained how the Scorpio Jeep came all of a sudden with high speed which caused it to lose control and then how it broke the walkway railing to crush the man who was strolling and then finally getting stopped at the wall.

Rahul asked: "Did you guys see who was driving the Scorpio?"

Bharat said: "I could not see the driver, however I remember the number plate of the Scorpio also I tried to catch the Scorpio as quickly as possible however it escaped so if we report it to police with the number plate I think the culprit will be caught."

Gaurav said: "I saw that it is the famous Suresh Singh, the son of the MLA. He can do anything he wants. It seems like even if we report him nothing will happen to him."

Rahul said: "What that was Suresh Singh the son of the MLA who is famous for his rash driving and is also a womanizer. He is also very arrogant; he thinks the whole metro city belongs to him and he can do whatever he wants and get away with it because his Dad is an MLA."

Gaurav said: "There is a rumor going on that when Suresh Singh was in the first year in the college he had a fight with another student about something related to their private matter; however from the next day onwards that particular student never came to college anymore. When there was a long absence of the student the college authorities tried to contact him at his home however they could not get any information on him since even his family members were not there and when the college authorities investigated further from his neighbor they found out that they left this city however the neighbors could not tell about the reason for them to leave the city."

This time Rahul said: "Gaurav said correctly however this is only the part which everyone knows and is out in public however because I am also a part of high society and have met this Suresh Singh once in one of those parties I came to know that actually it was all his doing to harass and force that student and his family due to which they had to leave the city."

Bharat said: "Whoever that guy is we should definitely report to the police on this issue."

Rahul and Gaurav tried to convince Bharat to not get involved in this mess by reporting it to Police since the Police will only question him and Bharat will have to go through a lot of harassment however Bharat felt that it was his moral responsibility to report this to Police after all it was him who has noted down the number plate of the Scorpio.

He was also one of those families who had to suffer and had to leave their home town due to the power of influential people because in his previous town the crime lord forced him and his family to leave the town otherwise they would not have survived since all sources of income and education had been cut for their family. So he found out that the crime lord in Rajgarh town and Suresh Singh in this Rajgarh Metro city were very similar. The only difference was that the other was a crime lord who was involved in all kinds of criminal activities and the latter was just a student and a son of some influential MLA. So Bharat felt like if people like Suresh Singh are left to roam freely then he will target more innocent people like himself which he did not want.

So Bharat decided to report the matter to police anyways and said: "I think we should report this to police because the people like Suresh Singh should be caught and sent to jail so that they could not bully more people."

Rahul replied: "Brother I understand that Suresh Singh like people should not be left in the open and should be captured by the police to keep in jail however you have to understand that he is the son of an MLA who is one of the most influential people of Rajgarh Metro City. So even if you file a complaint against him at the police station it will be nun and void because police are already following orders from his father so Suresh Singh will escape unscathed. So reporting to the Police is pointless in my opinion. Even if you have seen the number plate they can change number plates like that so Police will not have any proof."

After listening to Rahul it seemed like everywhere is the same, only the people who are strong and influential will rule the world and treat the poor and weak people like worms and insects. Bharat felt very disheartened due to this since even it seemed like the Police and Government authorities are also under the influence of these so called rich people so if the law is also with them then where could the poor and weak go to seek justice for themselves.

However it seemed like someone had already informed the Police since they arrived after some time on the accident zone and reviewed the site. Then they started asking questions to the people present over there about the details of the incident. When the Police came to Bharat's group they explained the accident in detail however Bharat did not say anything about Suresh Singh because Rahul had already made him understand that Police was already corrupt and cannot do anything in this case also Bharat has just came to this town recently so he would not like to involve in any serious trouble if he could avoid it. Thankfully it did not take much time for the Police investigations to complete.

Once the Police investigations were over they returned back to school as it was almost time for the Sports Meet competition awards ceremony.

Few of the games were still going on at that point of time so they sneaked in and went to the dressing room to check on their mates as to how the competition was progressing.

After the few remaining games like the chess competition, Table tennis and Tug of war were over, everyone waited for the award ceremony to start.

At that point of time everyone was called on the field as the students came in a disciplined manner while the family members were present at the spectator's seat.

Then one by one the medals and respective certificates were announced and distributed among the participants.

This year in the sprint race competition the first and the third spot was taken by Bharat and Rahul respectively while the second spot was taken by Dennis. So when Dennis came and collected his award Pallavi was also present at the back since she was also one of the students of CU College. Bharat saw Pallavi and went to greet her however Pallavi paid no attention to him and disregarded him.

Though they currently were ex couples however they were childhood friends also thus Bharat thought even after breaking up they could be friends like before however when Pallavi turned a blind eye towards him he felt bad however he did not force it any further to speak to her.

After the award ceremony was over it was the end of the Sports meet competition which was a unique competition held one day per year during the whole night and in which students from other colleges came to participate hence it had got a lot of value if someone could win a medal here since the points will be added in their final results.

Since the ceremony happened for the whole night, the next day was announced a holiday for all the three colleges which participated and then the students and teachers went home along with their families to take rest.

The participants who have won medals were all happy and the participants who did not win any medals were all sorrowful however they were hopeful for the next year's Sports Meet Competition.
