Denying her queries

The road was dark ahead but seeing the familiar face warmth spread in her heart. After the car left she crossed the road.

"Why are you here? You aren't waiting for me, are you?" she questioned lazily.

"Who does such hardworking work as to wait...I was just taking a walk around and met you here. It's just a coincidence." He denied.

"Okay then continue your walk...I will leave. Bye," she waved her hand with a smile and walked.

As she took a step, the person behind her follow too.

"Why are you following me?" Abha asked raising her brows.

"I am not following you. I finished my walk and was returning back to the room. What can I do when were are roommates and the way is the same." He acted as if he was aggravated.

He walked in front of her but had slowed his pace. Abha walked by his side reaching him.

"Jay, I think I will be late for a few days or maybe I won't return on some days too. But don't worry I will inform you."

Jay stopped walking but didn't face her. "Is it related to the treatment for your new patient?... Stay for the whole day but return back at night at least... If you want I can fetch you too."

"Really you would?? but leave it for now. I will try as you want but I can't promise it. To make up for leaving you alone and not meeting you...Umm...let's go on a trek coming weekend. I will manage my time." Abha replied while tilting her head.

"Ok, but you can't cancel it later on."

" Sure I won't and thank you for waiting for me."

"I told you before too I didn't wait for you--" the voice disappeared into the corner of the corridor.

The next morning,

As she had promised the Lu couple to treat their son, She packed some daily necessities and clothes in the morning.

She was having a tasty breakfast with Jay, and her mobile vibrated which was on charge. She ignored it and continued to eat food and enjoy the taste.

"Jay how can you cook so well. Teach me too. I think I will gain weight if I eat your cooking daily. Nothing tastes better after eating your food." Abha tried to act cute.

"It's not my cooking is best but you never try good food out. You only eat to fill your stomach. Try to savor the taste. And eat more--"

"You are right I have to try the delicacy all around the world." she finished her additional food too.

"Abha you have your bag packed, so you are planning to stay there."

"Yeah, Jay I thought for the whole night and decided that will be better. It's for a few days before I will return for the trek. And when I am not here take care of yourself too and don't exert pressure on your brain."

"Got it doc," Jay replied.

"Oh check out if my phone is charged fully or not. I will be leaving now." Abha went to her room and brought her bag.

"It's full and I think there is a message too." Jay gave her the phone with his right hand but was clenching his left hand which Abha didn't notice.

"Maybe the chauffeur had arrived. Bye, see you soon." She waved her hand and went out. Jay was looking all the way from the window until she reached the same car and entered. Many thoughts were gathered in his mind...

***

Reaching the Lu mansion and entering the gate she saw her patient Mr. Kai ( the deputy mayor ) in his wheelchair with the servants surrounding him. He was giving them an order so she didn't walk towards him but stayed somewhere far. In this view only he looked like a leader otherwise an odd patient who is difficult to deal with.

One of the helpers saw Abha and informed Kai. He dismissed all and with the helper helping him he reached her.

"When did you arrive? Oh!! you brought a bag which means you will stay here. I will ask someone to prepare your room. Did you have breakfast?" Mr. Kai asked. Maybe he himself didn't notice but he was glad for her arrival and a small smile was on his face.

"No need for the trouble, Sir. I need to start your treatment immediately. Be ready within ten minutes and meet me in your training room."

"Don't call me Sir or Mr. deputy mayor all the time. You can call me only Kai. You calling me like that makes us more like strangers. We can at least be friends. And show her the room-" he said to the person standing next to him.

"Whatever" Abha rolled her eyes and left that place.

An hour later,

"Arghh...Can you do it slowly? It's very painful. Is my bone-breaking? I can hear the sound of crack too. I am feeling the pain more than before." the man in a wheelchair spoke with his red face.

Abha who was applying pressure on his legs acted as if she didn't hear and continued. Actually, she could have applied less pressure but she was angry as he was making fun of her and the previous early morning call. 'Don't ever mess with your doctor.'

Besides those two, three people were present there. His parents and his helper. Maybe he was his personal assistant. Those people were closing their ears with their fingers because of the scream.

Mrs. Lu slowly leaned toward Mr. Lu and said in a small voice," Dear, do you think he is trying to act pitiful. I don't think Dr. Abha is even putting some pressure but he is screaming so loud. Is our son very weak?"

"Maybe dear" was Mr. Lu's reply.

Little did they know that Abha was putting the pressure where he could feel the pain more.

"Don't ack weak. You are feeling pain means the cells aren't dead and your legs can be recovered soon." Abha replied in a distant voice.

"Is that so...you could have told me before. Men don't feel pain and I am even a man who has to achieve great things...I would have tried hard to tolerate the pain and not scream." Kai tried to keep up his dignity. The people present were trying hard to control their laughter.

<<As others said Kai was a gentleman. His temper had worsened after his accident as the prestigious person had to lie in bed and wheelchair. He couldn't move without others' help. Even the doctors gave on him so he was frustrated. But he was a good person and a responsible son. He was still single as he was always busy with his official work. In his young days, he was also in love with a few girls. It was said that after his last break-up he busied himself without proper rest. Maybe he was heart-broken.>>

"Let's continue this routine for a few days. the pain may increase but if you have a problem tell me. Your dignity and pride can't be eaten. First, be fine and earn those later." With those words, Abha left the training room.

She was tired after the session so without food she rested the whole day. Resting, treatment, consolation for the patient along with good food and a place to sleep was given to her. Abha hadn't received any text from Jay either she send. In such a way four days passed.

Kai was fine as he had some progress in his leg but Abha knew it wasn't satisfying progress. On the fifth day, she canceled the therapy session and told him to rest.

She had informed Kai's parents that she would take leave for the weekends. Abha very much wanted to return back to her apartment but waited patiently.
