Chapter 23 The Fifth Tournament of Blood

The day had finally arrived for the first expanded tournament of blood. With an arena the same size but stands multiple sizes larger than before.

So with over 900 contestants of old and new kobolds and male or female the tournament would be filled with blood.

Before this tournament the lv2 kobolds came to an agreement to not engage in battle for leadership anymore and all lv2 kobolds would earn elder status. Also with elder status came a better burial in a special graveyard separate from others. This graveyard would hold only the strongest fighters of this tribe in it for all time.

As Jack waited for the time to arrive for the start of the tournament his friends arrived one by one. Having already invited them before they arrived outside the divine realm and were guided inside by Jack.

With them taking in the view of their friend's realm they realized how different their realms were. Form Xiao's ocean/island style to Ryan's dense forest to Jack's plains and river.

As the time arrived the current leader of the kobolds that is in the process of becoming an elder started to give a speech and announced the start of the tournament.

The preliminaries would consist of battles to decide the top 256 like the first tournament this was decided through battles. The new adults struggled to fight against the lv1 kobolds left over from the monthly trial.

With all the new kobolds forced to compete they didn't last long against the hundreds of old adults. All the new kobolds were killed without surprise as lv0 kobolds couldn't match against the lv1 kobolds without tricks and it was day time.

With the preliminaries planned to take several days for all the battles. Battles would also take place during the night. This was the only chance for lv0 kobolds to win. Since the trial the old kobolds have become very arrogant and such over the course of the preliminaries many lv1 kobolds were killed in their folly.

The few new kobolds who succeeded immediately withdrew from the tournament since they had now chance of winning. Not wanting to die they withdrew hoping the next tournament would be their chance to win.

Preliminaries ended with all contestants being lv1 as more than 256 lv1 kobolds participated. Even the few new kobolds that leveled up didn't continue to participate.

The trio of friends watched as each battle progressed sometimes watching with excitement, surprise, worry, pity, shock, or indifference. As the preliminaries ended the trio weren't excited since the battles became repetitive so they ended up talking and discussing things.

At least the night battle had surprises and better fights to entertain the three divine beings.

With the main tournament starting and the large amount of blood in the arena like the first time. Since the first time the blood never reached such an amount again due to not raining. Though the sheer amount of kobolds caused the blood to rise it should have the same effect.

As the trio's excitement once again rose as they began watching better fights since even among lv1 kobolds these were the best. With each round now being each day they planned to have each round in different settings. The odd rounds will be at night time while even rounds will be at day time.

With the first round being at night every kobold was wary and bloodthirsty. The new blood pool didn't help their craze either.

As the first round progressed the following rounds only became crazier. Ending the night with a few surprises and a great many fights. A few lv1 kobolds could level up but Jack asked them personally if they would like to level since it would mean leaving the tournament.

A few accepted but most didn't since they wanted a chance at evolving. Though no one of the current generation witnessed it they still heard stories.

With the blood pool barely decreasing the second round began under the harsh sun. As many fell only filling the pool many also rose to the next round.

The two friends watched each fight and Jack's actions trying to learn something and honestly fulfilling their curiosity. With the current battles the two friends hopes only increased for the later battles. Truly glorious battles would be held and they waited in anticipation.

As the battles progressed throughout the day as the many elders watched and cheered for their favorites. Some ended up sad and some ended up happy. Many elders watched with regret as they wished they could participate in such a great competition.

The second round finished without surprise. Again many of the lv1 kobolds had a chance to evolve though few did. The ones who agreed last round regretted it and they passed on their feelings to this group further decreasing the amount.

The second night battle and third round started as the trio began to place bets of different things.

Who would win leadership, who would evolve, how many would evolve, and if their would be any surrenders. They debated on their reasons and settled for different bets. They decided that winning each would reward the other with different things.

The first bet would reward plain materials from your realm now or in the future.

The second bet would reward magic items or cards. As this bet would be harder to guess.

The third bet would reward magic items or cards as well since they each picked similar numbers and had to be spot on.

The fourth bet would be materials as would be a yes or no bet. Both Ryan and Jack said no while Xiao said yes. Also they confirmed with each other that surrendering didn't mean leveling up.

As they watched the battles of the third round ended they all were in a state of shock that seemed to have persisted for quite a bit of time. Jack recovered the fastest before his friends but still could come to realization about what just happened.
