1A-7: Not focused

Isaac just needed to calm down. He needed something to keep his mind off things. Right now he could really go for some… no. He promised himself and Lucas he wouldn't resort to such things anymore. But what else could he do? Standing outside on the curb, having not moved much further from his door, he finally knew what to do. He hopped on the bus again and played some random edgy songs as he waited to reach his destination

Eventually, he jumped off the bus and walked into his second favorite place in town. The ice cream parlor. He sat down in a seat and waited. Eventually, a waitress came.

"You here by yourself?"

"Yep, as always."

"I already know exactly what you want, I'll be right back!"

While Issac waited, he swore he could see Lucas in the corner of his eye, sitting in a booth nearby. But every time he turned his head he saw nothing. And the customers we're starting to question his sanity, so he stopped.

"Ight, here ya go!"

She handed him a bowl full of vanilla ice cream, laced with sprinkles, topped with whipped cream and a single cherry. This wasn't the first time he had come there, this was his usual place to calm down. There was something so tranquil about scooping the dessert and dropping it in your mouth. But all good things come to an end, and so did his ice cream.

"Thanks, I'll see you again."

"Be safe!"

'Be safe'... was he? He was once again questioning himself as he stood outside the door of the parlor. But this time he couldn't stop to think about it. He got back on the bus and headed back home.

When he arrived he let himself collapse on the bed. This letter from the school, everything going wrong, he really was a mess. He needed to get his act together before it was too late. Yet even through the stress, he thought of how he would be Lucas's smiling face in his sleep again, and that was enough to make him smile again.
