Prodigy

Wen Ming, personal secretary to San Renji from the San Groups, strutted into the room wishing to buy the game. This left all of the other representatives stunned and not sure of what to do.

The Qi's representative quickly composed himself. "Mr. Wen," he said with a smile, "we weren't expecting you."

"Yes, it came as a surprise, but this was an order from San Renji himself. He told me of this game and instructed me to come and buy it." He grabbed himself a seat, sneakily taking a peek at Yan Shu as he did so. 'So that's Renji's daughter,' he thought.

"Thanks for joining us, Mr. Wen," said Yan Shu.

"You're welcome. I must say, you really know how to drive a hard bargain," he said, looking through one of the papers that she had passed around.

"Thanks, I learned it from my parents."

"Is that so? I heard that you were an orphan."

"Yes, but when they were still alive, they taught me a lot about how to run a business."

Mr. Wen nodded at that. "Now, to the reason why I'm here. I'd like to buy your game and, since none of the others are willing to make an offer, then I believe we can already seal the deal."

"Mr. Wen," the Qi's representative tried to intervene, "don't you think they are asking for too much?"

"Not at all. To me, and also to Mr. Renji, this game shows a lot of potential. I can do nothing if there are people who lack the foresight to notice it," Mr. Wen spoke, his voice dripping with the same condescension that the Qi's representative had directed at Yan Shu. 

And why would Mr. Wen behave any differently? These people dared to look down on his boss' daughter. Especially this man from the Qi Groups. His company couldn't even compare to the San Groups.

"If that's all, I believe we can already start working on the contract, Ms. Lu."

"Certainly, Mr. Wen."

The Chen's representative cleared his throat. "Perhaps we've been too hasty in our assumptions. We'd be all too happy to offer Ms. Lu a better deal."

"Yes," agreed the Gu's representative. "And by the way, Mr. Wen. I don't remember seeing your name on the invitation list."

"Is that so? Well, there must've been some sort of mix-up. Regardless, I'm already here, so let's get negotiations underway." He chuckled and looked at Yan Shu. "So, Ms. Lu, what choice will you make?"

Yan Shu showed no signs of emotion. "The answer seems quite simple. Whoever offers the best price, wins."

Wen Ming smiled at her response. "So basically an auction?"

"Yes, like so. 'One must take advantage of every opportunity,' as San Renji himself would say."

Wen Ming's smile broadened to a grin. That's how his boss' daughter should act.

After long discussions, Yan Shu finally decided to sign a contract with the Chen Groups.

"Thanks to all for attending our presentation," Yan Shu spoke with a smile. If it was genuine or not, only she knew. "Unfortunately, we had to choose a single company to sign a contract with, but we hope we're able to further interact in the future."

The people were surprised about how quickly she changed, from the ruthless negotiator a while back, to a seemingly gentle young woman. There was even more than met the eye with that one. She certainly was a prodigy.
