Origin story part 2- She is hiding in the shadow

Like always I was walking with my friends around the monastery. Although it is a forbidden ground, the sisters allowed them to enter since it was an ancient grave that nobody had visited for centuries.

I zigzagged through the tombs to find something peculiar. My friends were following behind me while asking questions. Especially, Joe was chatting nonstop. Even Sera who always smiled, looked very annoyed because his words were obstructing my talk.

" Just shut up for a moment. I can't focus on my road much less your blabbering. Please shut your mouth."

Sera warned him with a stern look on her face. She was annoyed by this bastard a few hours ago.

" But, I was going to the main part."

Joe tried to retort to her. He was getting to the most important part of his history allegedly. However, that enraged Sera who was trying to learn something from me. She was an extremely clever and curious girl.

Um*

An eerie suddenly enveloped their body even though they were under the sunlight. Cold air permeated through the air as their hairs stood up from unknown dread. We stood there while checking around them with vigilance since there could be undead around. The monastery was holy ground, but the dead could be anywhere. Therefore we were afraid of facing them because only holy power could exterminate them.

I guided their way out to the exit, but somehow they were circling. Our footsteps never left the track as they were fresh.

Visha's face turned gloomy due to the sunset. The night was approaching and we had no way to go. Something was barring them to leave this ground under the light of the divine which was impossible for the undead.

" We have to leave quickly. I can't guarantee we won't die here."

I frowned, looking at the blazing sun that was telling us to go home. However, I knew something was hiding here, waiting for us to give up and surrender ourselves.

" Sera, Joe try to go there. If something is blocking our way, it will leave the unnecessary people."

I analyzed the situation with a cool head. It was the only chance that I got.

Sera and Joe looked at us with hesitation, but I gestured for them to move since we didn't have much time before the night. If the night comes here, it will be the end of us. The night was the nest of damned and darkened.

" We will bring abbess here. Wait for us."

Sera said, dragging Joe to the way where we came from. I could see their fading silhouettes as they ran. My nerves were heightened to the extreme, sweat dripped from my forehead.

Visha sighed and sat on the ground with a grimace. His eyes were out of focus and he was trembling from the unknown. The looming shadow was approaching us silently as the night curtain draws near. The chill and frost hugged us while the tombs leaned over to our bodies.

" I was stupid. If I didn't ask you to go play with us here, you wouldn't be here. I am sorry, Cross."

Visha muttered while trembling from the cold. I silently took off my outer coat and put it on him.

Crash*

We heard something in the dark. Crunches of wood were getting near us as our nerves were warning us. This was something that living being should never see or touch. A shadow that was supposed to be sealed away forever in this graveyard, but somehow it was awake and it was heading towards us with deliberate sounds. It was playing with us to satisfy its hungry heart.

Visha and I watched the darkness that was near us. I could tell something was watching us there. A pair of red eyes were focused on us with mockery in it. We couldn't see the figure or body of these eyes, but I knew this thing wasn't simple.

I took a deep breath to calm down my thumping heart.

" Listen to me. You probably can see that it is after us, but it is afraid of the light. I have this match here. No matter what happens, don't lose our light. Otherwise, it will kill us."

I said with anxiety in my voice. I could see Visha was nodding with a serious look. We were ready to face whatever it was.
