Chapter 62 Holy Envoys

A few days passed since the funeral of Rammes who sacrificed himself for the greater good. The day of the envoys' arrival came in as Aston and others nervously waited for one of the most influential people on the planet.

Their arrival prompted a new historical event for the city as well as a new page for the city people.

" They should be here soon."

Selena said lightly, standing before the great desert with a calm face. The loose sleeve of her blouse was being blown gently by the wind as well as other inquisitors who were missing either an arm or two arms even so they proudly stood there.

Zzz*

The loud sound of the engine roared as the dot appeared on the horizon of the sky. The people gulped nervously under the engine sound because this was an artifact ship that was crafted by the God of the forge.

It was one of the three great ships that were used as the warships of the sky. They were much more powerful than technological city ships and they had weapons that could wipe out the entire city.

" They are even more terrifying than our griffin knights."

Daemon frowned lightly, mumbling under his breath to show his shock. However, this almost made Mikael to drag him back since it was an obvious thing.

Although their storm knights were powerful forces, even they couldn't match the holy kingdom's force. Fortunately, they didn't wage war against other nations or continents thanks to their teaching.

The roar of the engine came closer as the huge shadow was cast down to the city. A giant behemoth made of metal landed near the city as the people came down from the deck.

Two groups of people were leading the entire ship's personnel. One was led by a man with glasses that had a golden rims while the other one was led by an elderly man with a large beard.

Two squads of elite paladins protected them from the side while a whole group of clerics and priests followed them from behind.

" May the sun shine upon you."

The man with glasses gently spoke to Selena as he showed a warm face. Selena saluted to him when she saw his greeting, knowing he was showing her respect despite being a higher authority.

The paladins behind him also hit their chests with their arms to show their respect to inquisitors.

" May the truth dawn upon you."

The elderly man spoke calmly, deeply looking at Regina and Aston who were standing next to Selena. He slightly scanned them as he stroked his beard.

" Cardinal Horus, it is my honor to see your face."

Selena bowed her head before the elder, knowing he was a strict man with strict rules. He was infamous for creating multiple laws for the entire kingdom, so people were afraid of seeing him, and that included inquisitors because seeing him meant it was either they were guilty or at the funeral.

" You look haggard, Selena. Fix your attire."

He reprimanded her despite knowing the occasion. Perhaps this was what he was saying to cheer up, but others would surely misinterpret his words.

" My apologies, cardinal."

Selena didn't dare to face his face. The inquisitors were practically dominated by the order of the truth, so he was her mentor and higher-up. Saying something was equivalent to a warning to her.

" You must be Aston. I used to play chess with lord Sullivan. He was a gentle person who loved seeing his people happy, but his light had gone out soon like other good people."

The archbishop seemed to dissolve tension as he faced Aston who was bowing his head to them. Aston raised his head when the archbishop spoke to him.

" Indeed, my father used to talk about lord Theseus. He said you were one of the most intelligent people in the kingdom despite being a priest. He also mentioned you were the person who recommended this place to him when he received his land."

Aston recalled his father who was both intelligent and strong during his rule, unlike his children. He was talented enough to catch several church popes' attention during his youth. Unfortunately, he lost his life to disease in the end. Moreover, his children almost ruined his reputation ironically.
