Chapter 48 Frozen path

Crack, step*

The sound of cracking echoed through the narrow alley as the group of warriors was walking inside the frozen valley. The frigid air of the north embraced their bodies, tickling their breath with its droplet.

" I swear, I don't like North. It is too cold here."

Erkos warmed his hands, blowing with warm air that he had created from mana. The flame was able to ease up his chilled body, but it was a far cry from being able to warm him up. Moreover, the molten snow was creating hard ice cover around his clothes and weapon, creating more difficulty for him.

" Just warm up by walking, we can't afford to waste our mana in the first place."

Kaesthia replied while chewing jerky in her mouth since the north has no fruits and even if they were fruits, it is pretty hard to find one much less eat them. The northern fruits have rare properties that are used to heighten one's mana sensory which meant it was sought after by countless people who desire to break through their levels.

" Tell me, Turkan. Is your shaman different from the druids or priests? I heard they are really powerful humans or beings that could morph and use curses on people."

Erkos asked, trying to warm up his body while distracting his attention to other things. He was slowly getting used to this damned weather, but there were a few frostbites on his body which caused slight discomfort and pinching pain. Besides he was interested in learning about other races and countries.

" Let's see. They are similar to Eastern spirit users, but our power is more raw and destructive. Therefore, shamans prohibit themselves from using that energy in their youth, otherwise, they would turn into beasts and be killed by us. Ah for your information, they have a technique similar to a priest's blessing and healing. Other than that I don't know much since they live in seclusion."

Turkan smiled, explaining about their customs with delight because he believed Erkos saw them as normal beings, not some mindless bunch.

Other barbarians also raced to explain their homes and families. They were proud of their tribe and they were proud of their family.

" Interesting, I have never met your shaman before, so I don't know about their power. I only heard myths and legends about them after all. I heard they disappeared after the death of the great wolf."

Rapthecora chipped in the talk, showing her curiosity about the shamans of the northern tribes. Their powers were so great that even ice witch was annoyed to meet them that.

" Well, it happened a long time ago. The shamans fell into madness after the absence of the great wolf because of great Ursa and the great ice bird. Their powers were too powerful to calm down as they collided with each other in the disappearance of the wolf's power."

Turkan said, halting his movements after looking ahead. Kaesthia and Erkos gasped at the sudden revelation of the unknown. The vast land was covered in full white, shining under the sun with beautiful scenery that captured their heart instantly.

The North was a harsh, cruel, and cold place, but one thing was true. It was beautiful, too beautiful that even elves felt the unique beauty of this land was similar to their great forests that filled life and spirits.

" How beautiful! I never imagined North would be this beautiful."

Kaesthia spoke, touching the snow with her hand to feel its texture of it. It felt cold yet fluffy like human's cotton candy. She immediately fell in love with this place.

" You only saw the place where humans lived. The north is much bigger and more beautiful than you think."

Rapthecora smiled proudly, dancing around the snow with happiness on her face. The chilly feeling of her home, sealed away her worries as she found her purpose and returned to her home with it.

" Great gods of the north must see us and blessed our way. As she said, the north is beautiful when it is untouched by humans. The humans would destroy everything they touch, so I hate them."

Turkan whispered, laying on the ground in bliss. His clansmen followed his step as they all lay down to rest before they battle once again.
